It is very convenient that they are able to perform all of these procedures at one location instead of having to go to different facilities. Their calendars are extremely full, so you have to book in advanced or you'll be seen months out. The staff are friendly and helpful with scheduling and the in-take process. I haven't ever waited a crazy amount of time to see a doctor which has been good for my schedule. One star off because I personally don't understand why we have to pay for parking while seeking medical attention. In order to avoid the fee, I park outside the gated area and walk into the building. There is plenty of free street parking, but it is a walk which may be more difficult for patients who are older or in pain.

The nurses were amazing! Unfortunately, my second visit was for my teenage daughter, who broke her ankle playing volleyball. This time, I made sure to ask for the names of the provider and nurse because they absolutely deserve to be acknowledged. Frank and Carol, thank you for doing your jobs with both passion and compassion. You made a stressful situation a little easier for us, and that truly matters. While being admitted I could not eat & had been waiting for a specific doctor to come in & speak to me regarding the issues. Every time I would call a nurse with the call button , no one would pick up & not one nurse would come to the room to help me use the restroom. I kept asking my nurses when I would be discharged or what was going on with me & every time I would ask a nurse what was wrong with me, I would get a different story or receive the answer, "uhmmmmmm, let me check & get back to you" but did they ever get back to me about my results about ANY tests?!?! NO. Also while being admitted they changed my diet & they ended up giving me something I could not eat, NO ONE asked me about my allergies about food or what I did or do not eat. I could not receive a new or different plate, so I did not eat. Next time I will count my blessings about being healthy before I ever step foot in this place again. Plus, PIH while being admitted there they give you a box to keep yourself clean containing, bath clothes, toothpastes, toothbrush, shampoo & conditioner. Not one time did this place ask if I wanted to get clean. Ew

There is a wait depending on the amount of people and their medical issues. Some staff is very stern And into getting the info on diagnosis others are more understanding and communicative and Fill in the blanks If your a re occurring patient as we have been they know the routing blood pressure how intense the pain, Or other info that will make helping get you seen by a doctor or practitioner. The ER nurse staff are on the Ball some aren't social butterfly's more like worker bees. Get the info draw the blood yet still make you Comfortable. Some nurses will socialize get the info and listen to your chatter. Sometimes when we are coming in for sickness or injury we are not understanding that the nursing staff is the Core of getting you better and well again. Some doctors are the same way when it comes to communication. Sometimes doctors are to the point and compassion is not there they are doing their job to help you. And their are doctors that give you the right of way to give all the info then they do their job check the heart lungs And other things, My wife and I agree that the ER staff here at Presbyterian Whittier deserve a little recognition for there ongoing Caring and work ethics in all types of issues. The nurses helped me care for my baby while I was healing, they would even come to the room when I called just to help me pick him up to cuddle. (I was very sore) The delivery room was clean and comfortable and so was the postpartum room. I'm beyond grateful to have had such a comfortable experience.

Immediate is defined as "occurring, acting, or accomplished without loss or interval of time." My wife's visit to the emergency room makes no sense to me. Her primary care physician's nurse told her to make an appointment with a doctor (with first available appointment in 4 days), or go to the ER. We chose the ER, but, not before sending me to the gym to exercise, so that she could fix her hair. I understand the ER has more equipment than doctor's office, and even urgent care. It seemed wrong to go to the ER when it was not an emergency. St. Jude ER was vastly different from the ER in Canada that we just visited, where it was a real emergency. We showed up at 5PM and registered. The triage nurse saw us almost immediately. We saw the doctor within an hour. The doctor followed up on the care that my wife received in Canada and ordered a CT scan and some bloodwork. Everyone that we interacted with was nice and professional. They all knew what their job was. I'll take this over universal healthcare in Canada any day where it took 6 hours just to be triaged! Even though we spent four hours at the ER, the time went by quickly because the the process here at St. Jude is just so much better. It was a good experience. I don't want or need to experience them any more. Hopefully, I will never come back.

St. Jude Fullerton's ER demonstrated a serious breakdown in basic patient care. After misdiagnosing…read morethe same symptoms on 7/31 as a "pulled muscle," we returned on 8/10 with lung fluid confirmed by urgent care. The patient then endured seven hours of untreated chest pain because the ER doctor refused to act without radiology, which took ten hours to respond. Pain relief and antibiotics were only given after multiple complaints, and the doctor admitted he was "finally making a decision without radiologist confirmation." The pneumonia diagnosis confirmed after discharge. This level of delay, misjudgment, and lack of urgency is unacceptable for any emergency department. It's too bad I can't give a negative review. In addition, try speaking with Patient Care Relations only to be directed right away to voicemail with a message that call will be returned IN two days, not within two days.

This group misplaced a decimal point when telling my wife how much a procedure would cost so it ended up costing 10x what they said it would. They don't seem to ever make a mistake in our favor, do they? And then their billing department was so inept, that they actually thought that we had an insurance plan that had a $7,200 deductible (my wife has an excellent health insurance plan through the state). Anyone in the medical field should immediately know that this is wrong (I confirmed with the insurance to figure out how this place's billing department could be so wrong), but instead of trying to figure it out, they doubled down on it and gave us attitude to go with it. They ended up billing my wife double for the initial ultrasound and the follow-up. I'm still in the middle of figuring out how to proceed clearing their mistake, but it's proving to be a complete waste of time which is 100% due to their incompetence. Avoid this place like the plague.

And reason for low stars is that we were told by the rehabilitation center where my father in law was getting dialysis that he possibly had a stroke. Upon review of my father in law, one side of his face appeared to have Bells Palsy. When the nurse was asked if he had a stroke, she replied with oh no, who told you that. We tested him and h didn't have one. He literally just got there and in that hour they did NOT draw blood. How did they determine that he did not have a stroke without reviewing his troponin levels? Smh. I know an EKG isn't going to show them anything but current rhythms that may be cardiac related at the moment. Two days later after being asked again they wanted to order an MRI stat but he is claustrophobic and they didn't have an open MRI machine so he couldn't have one. This is upsetting that this place can operate and still operates with all of the incorrect methods they use to treat patients. Parking is crazy for the ER area. It's not really noted where to go. It's pretty dingy inside. I'm not sure how JACHO has allowed this place to remain operating. Gardena Memorial and their big partners need to really clean up. This is embarrassing. On July 28, 2026, I brought my 84-year-old mother to the emergency room because she was extremely…read morefatigued, vomiting, chills, unable to walk, and had a sodium level of 125. Despite her age, symptoms, and abnormal lab results, the ER Doctor John Lin insisted on discharging her. When I requested that she be transferred to Kaiser Downey for further evaluation, I first spoke with the charge nurse. Shortly afterward, the doctor John Lin came in and again stated that my mother would be discharged. Rather than showing concern for her condition, he questioned whether she had received a COVID vaccine and appeared to attribute her symptoms to that instead of recognizing how ill she was. Throughout the encounter, the physician came across as rude, impatient, dismissive, and lacking compassion. My mother was clearly weak, could not walk on her own, and was in no condition to be sent home. I was shocked by the lack of empathy and concern for an elderly patient. We took my mother to Kaiser Downey Hospital, where the difference in care was immediate. The medical team promptly evaluated her, recognized the seriousness of her condition, and admitted her to the hospital for treatment based on her symptoms and low sodium level. No family should have to fight for appropriate medical care for a vulnerable loved one. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this emergency department specifically Dr John Lin. I sincerely hope the hospital addresses the quality of care and patient-centered communication provided in the emergency room so that other patients and families do not experience the horrific experience what we did.

Most hospitals aren't perfect but this comes very close. I have been in and out of PIH for six…read moreyears now because of my elderly parents, and they have been to every floor/department. Overall I have loved the care and service they have been giving my mom and gave to my dad, as well as to me as a caregiver. Every once in a while you'll get someone that isn't as experienced or in a mood (maybe cause I'm in a mood LOL) but for the most part my parents have thrived because of the work of the PIH teams (ER, ICU, rehab, cardiologists, nephrologist, hospice, etc). Any big missteps were usually because of my choice in insurance, or lack of documenting and being on top of their own needs. I can't stress enough how important it is to keep a journal/record of your meds and procedures (I've been using the app CareZone). Also refer to history before appointments and advocate for them or yourself if you are a patient. If you don't understand the medical jargon, don't just say ok, ask them what it all means! Then look on Google for clarification if you need to. For those visiting patients, staff has been super accommodating, with rooms allowing you to sleep in (Bring ear plugs and eye masks!), a good inexpensive cafeteria and cafe, complimentary valet, lots of parking, volunteers with wheelchairs, and plenty of areas for families to congregate while waiting. I especially love the many volunteers that come in to give patients some moments of hope (music and dog therapy). And their PIH Hospice (dove house) was lovely and allowed me to be fully present with my dad for his last days. I can't say enough good things. Oh and last thought. I also learned from these many years from the nurses is that there is so much waste in the medical field because of the obvious: germs! So anything they leave in the room for you to use (toiletries, extra medical supplies, even unwrapped bandages and stethoscopes) usually gets trashed. They can't give it to the next patient, so take that stuff with you! Donate it to a homeless shelter or the med stuff to schools (for your littles ones or preschools, doctor dramatic play!)- assuming you aren't in for anything horribly contagious. If you don't know what just ask them what you can take. If you're a nurse is environmentally conscious she will give you a huge thank you
