A medical emergency is defined as "A medical emergency is a health condition or situation that needs immediate medical attention." Immediate is defined as "occurring, acting, or accomplished without loss or interval of time." My wife's visit to the emergency room makes no sense to me. Her primary care physician's nurse told her to make an appointment with a doctor (with first available appointment in 4 days), or go to the ER. We chose the ER, but, not before sending me to the gym to exercise, so that she could fix her hair. I understand the ER has more equipment than doctor's office, and even urgent care. It seemed wrong to go to the ER when it was not an emergency. St. Jude ER was vastly different from the ER in Canada that we just visited, where it was a real emergency. We showed up at 5PM and registered. The triage nurse saw us almost immediately. We saw the doctor within an hour. The doctor followed up on the care that my wife received in Canada and ordered a CT scan and some bloodwork. Everyone that we interacted with was nice and professional. They all knew what their job was. I'll take this over universal healthcare in Canada any day where it took 6 hours just to be triaged! Even though we spent four hours at the ER, the time went by quickly because the the process here at St. Jude is just so much better. It was a good experience. I don't want or need to experience them any more. Hopefully, I will never come back. read more

St. Jude Fullerton's ER demonstrated a serious breakdown in basic patient care. After misdiagnosing the same symptoms on 7/31 as a "pulled muscle," we returned on 8/10 with lung fluid confirmed by urgent care. The patient then endured seven hours of untreated chest pain because the ER doctor refused to act without radiology, which took ten hours to respond. Pain relief and antibiotics were only given after multiple complaints, and the doctor admitted he was "finally making a decision without radiologist confirmation." The pneumonia diagnosis confirmed after discharge. This level of delay, misjudgment, and lack of urgency is unacceptable for any emergency department. It's too bad I can't give a negative review. In addition, try speaking with Patient Care Relations only to be directed right away to voicemail with a message that call will be returned IN two days, not within two days. read more

It is sad and appalling that a hospital does nothing to help a person suffering from alcoholism where hes at the hospital 2 times a week because of his addiction and because of his addiction is homeless. They cut him lose with 25 pages of information. It's a joke ...so is the Placentia Linda hospital. The social workers think their job is to pass out paperwork and and send them on their way with nothing but a bunch of papers. Then feel they have done something to help humanity. I would never go to St. Judes for anything even if I was bleeding to death. I would drive to Newport and go to Hoag. UCI is even better at helping people like my son. The system is broken and how these people can call themselves care givers is a lie, there is no care given here. They ask for donations.... for what so they can line their pockets. They take care of children but what about people suffering from addiction who have children they are not able to take care or provide for. They need to set up a center in contact with rehab centers or detox centers, not just hand a bunch of papers out. Some of these unfortunate individuals dont have phones or family or their families dont have the resources to help their loved one. The taxes we pay in Orange County or in this detroiating state where is that money going? To build a train to Bakersfield. What a disgrace. No compassion here and the name "Saint Jude" is a farce nothing saintly goes on here for people in need of help with addictions to alcohol or drugs when they enter in through these doors of hypocracy. read more

Outpatient services are fine. DO NOT come to the ER. I was the first one here in the AM , you will wait HOURS. Plan for 10 plus hours out of your day. Ended up leaving after 8 hrs. This is literally the worst ED ive ever been to lol. Never again. read more

Delivered twice at St. Jude Providence. The pros: Most of the nurses are wonderful which is great because you will see them the most when your L&D and recovering process. The worst: sometimes the OB on call. Dr. Gray was the OB on call as I was close to delivery. He broke my water without my consent. He said he was doing a cervical check and I saw him grab a white stick but didn't think anything of it. During the check, I felt a gush of water come out, and he just left without saying anything. I looked at the nurse present, and asked "did he just break my water"? and she said yes, and that she didn't know he was going to do that. Beware of going to this hospital given that this doctor is comfortable without getting a patient's informed consent. read more

Christina Martinez did not want to let me go into the room while my wife was getting a ultra sound even though I checked in. My wife was scared and was begging her to let me be by her side. Horrible service I can see why this place has horrible reviews. My wife was having complications with her pregnancy. No human touch be careful with this place. read more

I've had such a wonderful experience at St Jude the several times I've had to come. Delivered my first at another hospital and my second at St Jude - what a world of difference from the care I've received from staff at St Jude! Everyone was absolutely amazing and I wish I had remembered all their names. We felt extremely well taken care of the entirety of the time from being triaged to discharged. There is a concierge service offered (at least for the maternity wing) where you can place a shopping (target, cvs, etc.) or food order and the concierge on call will go pick up the item for you - FREE with no additional charges other than you paying for those items yourself. There is a ~5 mile radius but such a nice to have if you need your support person around and to avoid the additional parking fee (see below). Two cons: 1) Paid parking for patients and visitors (no in/out privileges so you'll have to pay every time you leave and come back) 2) the food was absolutely terrible, ha. Good selection of items off the menu for patients but everything was bland. We were offered a "celebratory meal" which we ordered the steak.. oh my it was so tough and flavorless. A nice gesture but not good. read more

Severely understaffed Emergency Room, I had a nurse tell me that my mom just came in "on a bad day". She dislocated her arm and had her wait for over 2 hours in a hallway with an obviously painful injury to see a Dr or a nurse. Had to beg staff for any sort of relief for her just to hear NO over and over. Said they paged Dr but Dr never came so they had to page a completely different Dr hoping he'd show up. 4 hours later they said okay now we have a room so we can put her arm back in. If Jaqueline comes to help ask for another care provider or nurse, chances are she hates her job and will give you attitude. read more

First time coming here because I have different health insurance than my husband. We came to the ER for his persistent stomach issues and I assume this place is in network with his insurance. Check-in was quick and that happened around 12:45am. Nurse helping out for basic questions and blood pressure, prior to doctor's diagnosis, was fine. It's past 2am and we are still waiting for our turn. This is shocking to me because when I went to the ER at Kaiser, since I'm a member there, I was seen fairly quickly for my care. I don't know if it's short staffing here but this is horrible, especially if you are really ill or injured. Someone who's been waiting longer than us just left, without seeing the doctor because she had a young daughter and it was just so late. I don't think I even need to review about the doctor because this waiting process is a mess. We had to ask exactly where we were in line and they don't even know. The check-in staff has already left. I don't know how much longer we can wait since we both have to go to work in the morning. --Edit: we ended up leaving around 2:30am, without being seen, returned the wristband. People were tired and falling asleep waiting or leaving the ER without seeing the doctor like us. Also they charge parking here. It's ridiculous. read more

Brought my daughter here to get checked out. Figured it is the flu or something. She was complaining of nausea, extreme sore throat, running a fever. Seven hours later the only thing they have done is a chest x-ray, given her Tylenol and a nose swab. No nurses with an update, no doctor with any kind if results. The only interaction was the billing guy wanting to verify the address. This is on the level of County General. I'll never come here again. And as in previous reviews, the staff at the desk seem completely disinterested in trying to help. read more

New to St Jude and so far I'm not impressed especially with Radiology. I've called almost 10 times to make an appointment since July 10th and every time I call I get a different reason why I can't make an appointment. After 9 calls asking, I finally got the authorization correct only to be told they have to review my previous images and then decide if they will make an appointment! Why would another radiologist refer me ionly for you have to decide if they are intelligent enough to read the results and request further. Make it make sense read more

Took my daughter to the ER via ambulance due to her fainting and vomiting. They triaged us fairly quick, but then we waited for over 2 hours and still weren't seen. We asked the nurse there when we would be seen and she told us "we were next, the PA is just wrapping up a procedure". We then waited an additional 45 minutes and saw the PA treat 3 other patients ahead of us. Decided to leave because there was really no point waiting any longer given it was past midnight and my daughter was fast asleep. Very frustrating that the nurse gave us inaccurate information, and probably knowingly lied to us. read more

We came here in Nov 2025 for an emergency consult on a Sunday evening due to a golf course accident. Family member was beamed in the head by a golf ball on the greens. Not sure why the reviews for this facility is not higher to be honest. Much higher. As our experience was as positive as an ER medical emergency could have been. The staff in charge of intake and triage was the sweetest and caring nurse that one can be. Followed by the resident physician on duty, Dr Collin. Dr Collin was highly knowledgeable, professional, diligent, respectful, friendly, and all around a truly intelligent medical attending. He is clearly well trained and followed through the entire consult process with efficiency and effectiveness. Very very smooth. We considered ourselves lucky to have been treated by Dr Collin. The facility was also an amazing sight. Everything was modern, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. The ER was quiet and calm, unlike other hospitals. Parking was a bit tight, though. Admittedly, no one wants to go to the hospital. But we all will eventually need to for one reason or another. Accidents do happen. Illnesses do happen. St Jude Medical in Fullerton will always be our preferred first choice for an ER or other medical practitioner facility. read more

My mom was sent into St. Jude's ER by a Providence St Jude Heritage Urgent Care physician who became concerned by a symptom. She ended up being admitted to the neurology wing of the hospital. Dr. Martucci, the hospitalist physician, the ER physician, and all the nurses and staff were exceptional. The food was good, the room was spacious and modern, and crucially, the care was incredible. Everyone from the MRI transport staff to the Director of Neurology approached us with kindness, proactive support and thorough medical intervention. They were all patient, answered any questions, and very capable. We never had to advocate, we were never rushed or dismissed. Thankfully my mom was discharged and will fully recover but we were so blessed by the care, dedication and precision the team at Providence St Jude took. It was the best of Catholic healthcare. My mom was recently admitted and to say she received excellent care doesn't begin do it justice. Ever singer caregiver was very kind, gentle and caring. The treated my elderly mom who has Alzheimers with dignity. She was so happy her last day she didnt want to leave. She said she made friends with all the staff. The physicians at this Hospital literal saved my moms life 3 years ago and the caregivers are the reason she is still alive today. There is no place like St Jude read more

We brought our daughter in after a car accident. She was triaged at 12:43 AM. It is now 2:55 AM, and we are still waiting. All the other patients who were in the waiting room with us have already been seen, yet we're still outside waiting. I honestly don't understand how patients are being triaged here. The quality of care and service is extremely poor. I went to the front desk and asked three times, but the employees seemed uninterested and unhelpful. I will never bring my daughter here again. If I could give a zero-star rating, I absolutely would--without a second thought. read more

My wife delivered our baby girl here and it was a pleasant experience. The L&D nurses were all compassionate, kind, and there for our every need. The hospital food was decent and cafeteria also had good food for guests. Our ob-gyn was experienced and professional. No complaints from me as the entire medical staff was sure to explain the processes and procedures. read more

A Warning About St. Jude Medical Center I am writing this so others can know about my experience at St. Jude Medical Center and make informed decisions before bringing someone they love there. My fiancée, Deanna Martinez, was admitted to this hospital and later died there. During that time, I felt the hospital did not know how to properly handle her COVID-19 care. When I called for information, I was given very little or no explanation about her condition. Instead of honest communication, I felt like her situation was being kept from me. I am sharing this because families deserve truth, clarity, and compassion when a loved one is in the hospital. No one should be left confused, ignored, or shut out while someone they love is fighting for their life. Before choosing where to take someone you care about, ask hard questions about communication, transparency, and patient care. My experience with this hospital left me with deep pain, and so much hate for this hospital. read more

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst emergency hospital experiences I've had. The wait time was 3-4 hours, and when I asked staff for an estimate, no one seemed to know or communicate any updates. I've visited other hospitals, and this was by far the longest wait I've encountered. I would recommend to go to another emergency hospital. Once you get inside to your room and see the Doctors and nurses well that's a whole different story. The staff and the ER Doctors have great attitudes and are wonderful they are always checking up on you and very sweet. read more

DO NO GO TO THIS ER!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I was in the waiting room for 7 hours for severe stomach pain. Then once i was finally called everyone was so dismissive, cold and just had no compassion for the patients. Everyone seemed so jaded. They did an ultrasound and they said bothing is wrong with me and im not considered an emergency" and need to leave soon. Despite the fact i had waitied for 7 hours, They only gave me tylenol and pepcid ac and when I asked the PA ANDREW LUNA for a CT Scan to see what exactly is going on, he said NO. And to make an appt with my specialist. I was still in excruciating pain and he didnt care. I asked him if i can wait it out cuz i i scared to leave given the pain i was in and he said "no". I then begged the nurse to let me stay for an hour and to ask the dr for a cr scan and she gave me one more zofran and she said the dr denied me the ct scan again. I hated the way i was treated by him!! He then came back 45 min later while inwas still in excruciating pain either 0 answers and he tom me inneed to go now or hed call security. I was never once combative, argumentative , cruel, and mean. If this is how he treats his patients his in on the wrong profession and i would seriously consider removing this PA from your team. This ER can be packed at times but the staff here is amazing! Waiting 2-5 hours to be in and out of there isn't as bad as ppl claim it to be. I have family who have to go to the ER in LA....you're looking at over 7 hours easy! My last visit here I was treated by Nurse AJ who was absolutely amazing! And Dr. Rajal (I may have botched his name) but both really listened to my concerns. They really care about their patients. The Dr. sat w me to go over all my results before discharging me and I really appreciated that. I didn't feel rushed. I visited the emergency department to address an ongoing issue with my leg. Overall, my experience with most of the staff was positive. From intake to the ultrasound technician, everyone I interacted with was kind, attentive and professional. Unfortunately, my interaction with the physician assistant was notably different. During the assessment, she appeared dismissive of my pain and handled my injured leg in a manner that felt unnecessarily forceful. I am unsure if this is her standard approach with patients, but it was uncomfortable given the nature of my injury. When discussing my test results, the interaction felt rushed and impersonal. She appeared to be in a hurry, speaking while walking away, which gave the impression that my questions and concerns were not a priority. Pain management guidance was mentioned only briefly and as an afterthought as she was leaving the space. Throughout my visit, she repeatedly stated that the only assistance available was a doctor's note to excuse me from work. I want to clarify that I consistently communicated to every staff member that my purpose for visiting was to ensure the issue was not serious and to obtain documentation confirming my ability to work. I did not request pain medication or long term treatment and I found the implication that I was seeking more than this to be discouraging and demoralizing. Additionally, she commented on the fact that I do not currently have a primary care provider. This comment was unsolicited and did not take into account any circumstances that may have contributed to that situation. Seeking emergency medical care is already a stressful experience, and interactions that feel rushed, dismissive or judgmental can significantly impact a patient's sense of safety and trust. While I am grateful for the care provided by most of the staff, this particular interaction negatively affected my overall experience and is something I believe warrants attention. Overall, if you are assigned a PA named Stella in the basement ER, do yourself a favor and advocate for yourself to have another person work with you. You will not get the attention or support needed during your visit as her personal biases interfere with your medical help. read more

Let's just say this hospital is very very good the staff especially ICU nurse are wonderful , my mom got a huge suite on the 4th tower the priest was the only person making me laugh off my tears . It's been a wild rollercoaster spending the holidays here hopefully mid January we can go home. My mom is finally out of ICU & in a beautiful new tower suite on the 4th floor. I took an uber to the ER because I felt super dizzy for the last couple of weeks nauseous, and my back hurts so bad, and really weak. I fell on Saturday in my kitchen sort of black out feeling but didn't fall all the way I caught myself. But didn't feel right the rest of the days. So ended up going to St. Jude er, it was so busy I had to be in a wheelchair cause standing up was not happening. They did an ekg of my heart my blood pressure was high and my heart rate was low. Told them I had a lumbar puncture done at Foothill regional and the blood patch done there at st. Jude. I felt sick worse since those procedures. They wanted to do a full MRI of my brain, neck and spine. I had to wait a while because of how busy it was I mean hours. Sitting in the wheelchair was so hard for me to do. But waited got the MRI and after hours of waiting for my results after the MRI was done. They took me to this room where they told me I have a hematoma in my brain, Dr. Deygil or PA he was so nice and helpful! He said I should get a ct scan right away, i said I can't sit on this chair anymore. They took me downstairs to the room i was in last week and did bloodwork and put the iv in me and told me I was going to be admitted into the hospital I was in shock. First time being hospitalized, the room was so nice and all the nurses were sooo friendly and helpful. I was scared because I didn't understand what was happening to me and why I had to be there. But I'm thankful I was. Also just being in hospitals reminds me of my Mom so I hated that I was in one lol. I didn't ask for help much even though I was in so much pain, I didn't want to admit it :( I know so bad of me. They settled me in, I got the gown on, they put iv and heart monitor on me. They had me rest did some test got me something to eat since I hadn't eaten yet. I couldn't sleep of course I was alone and didn't really know what to do with myself and sleeping was hard. But they came in and got me at 4 in the morning for the ct scan. Took me back and then I ate a delicious breakfast and then waited. The neurologist came in, I wish I remembered his name but he told me that the hematoma might go away or might not. I have to check it with my neurologist. I told them my neurologist never gets back to me and neither does my neurosurgeon. So I don't know what to do. They ended up keeping me again, the physical therapist came in did my nerve checks and strength and then had me walk around using a cane so I can balance myself and do a little movement. I stayed again all the nurses were so sweet. Made friends with them all lol! They took care of me, I rested a lot. They told me my hematoma in my brain is small but the doctors need to keep an eye on it in case it does grow. I also have a rare thing in my spine. On my Linear T1-hyperintense signal within the center of the spinal cord at the level of the T8 vertebral body concerning for a rare intramedullary spinal cord lipoma and a presumed associated syrinx within the spinal cord from the level of To to the level of T10. So they said they think that is what is causing my symptoms and legs to be weak and right sided weakness but still don't have my results on my lumbar puncture so they said to be released and follow up with my neurologist the drs there at the hospital were so much more caring than my neurologist and neurosurgeon I told them that too. I told him all i went through with everything with my traumas for 8 years and he felt so bad for me. Dr. Salman jafri thank you for being so caring and helping me so much! No resolution but I am thankful I went and they found that. They asked if I hit my head I said no so what I have an what I am going through is really rare and they haven't seen a case like me lol. I laugh cause laughing helps brighten the day and I am staying positive through all this. I know I will be ok and eventually get the right help I need. But I am thankful I went and found out so I know what is going on now. But still more of this journey to figure it all out! I wanted to thank the hospital staff and er friends I have made there and all the doctors for trying to help me as best as they could! I appreciate you. I still don't feel better my head is still dizzy and heavy and nauseous but it's ok! I am fighting this and will do everything in my power to get better! Thank you so much again for everything! The food was pretty good for hospital food, I would recommend this hospital. They were wonderful here. read more

From a homeless man that utilized the waiting room as his own private sleeping quarters and restroom to the conditions in the actual emergency room, UNACCEPTABLE. The attending doctors here if you happen to stay overnight upstairs, are garbage. The nurses, are top notch, you won't get better care from a group of nurses than you do here. They answer questions, they are attentive, they made better recommendations, and assessments, than the two doctors my Fiancé saw. Dr Piuskim and a Pulmonologist Dr Khabaz, both acted like they couldn't wait to get out of the room as soon as they came in. Didn't listen to anything. You know how you can tell when someone is not into the conversation and is not listening and wants to leave? That's them. The only reason my fiancée saw a Pulmonologist is because I suggested it. Priuskim was like uhh ok yeah we can do that. Still the Pulmonologist Dr Khabaz was uninterested in the test results he ordered and didn't listen to anything my fiancée said. I feel bad for non English speakers or people that come here and don't have an educated advocate i.e. a family member with them in their room to ask questions and make sure they do their job. Again, the nurses, all week were exceptional, I'd rather come here and just see nurses than these two drs that were more in a hurry to get out of the room and on to the next patient or lunch. Bottom line, if you want good care, the nurses are the best. If you want an attending physician that can provide a good diagnosis and test for solutions, this isn't the place. read more
