But in speaking to other parents of kids my daughter's age, they were/are having similar issues with staff and management that we had before we left. I would recommend against transferring into Artisan at least after toddler stages. We immediately looked to Artisan for a preschool program because we had toured there when she was an infant and loved the presentation from that time. My daughter began her experience with daycare at a small in-home facility in Burlington and did very well there, but eventually grew out of that format and needed more structure with children her age. We didn't look anywhere else, and were excited to move her into a preschool classroom shortly after turning three last year (May 2018). Over the summer, we were presented with mixed reports of behavior issues (completely uncharacteristic of what we had seen to that point) and other reports of her doing well. We were not sure what the problem would be other than maybe a transitional issue. After a teacher change in the fall, we discussed the plan created with the previous teachers over the summer at the outset with the new staff. We began to notice however that they didn't seem to be following it. We again kept getting mixed reports from different teachers as to her progress. To be honest, her teachers' quality seemed to go down with the new staff. Also new was Director Julie, who eventually presented us with an ultimatum in November 2018 that we enroll her in public funded special needs evaluations or be removed from Artisan because they had no answers. This pressure was confusing and didn't sit well with us and we found their expertise to be lacking, so we didn't trust their insistence on there being a special need issue. I come from a family full of educators at all levels and their inability to creatively find and enact a plan didn't seem right with anyone. We pulled her from Artisan before Christmas 2018 and found a spot for her at Primrose in Burlington for even more money that Artisan was charging, but the cost difference was well worth it. Any behavioral issues were quickly dealt with and now, at 4.5 years old in a pre-k program she is excelling in all areas and working on first grade material. We're given glowing praise from her new teacher frequently. We purposely waited to see how she fared at her new school before posting any reviews, but her success only further shows me Artisan staff did not have the training or creative capacity to solve what amounted to be a simple problem. My wife and I experienced a lot of stress over her inconsistent care and Julie's ultimatum. Now we sleep very well knowing our daughter is in good hands at Primrose.

The infant class teacher tried to explain to me that he hadn't been crying too long and she was getting ready to feed him. Since I was already there I wanted to feed him myself. I took the bottle from her but noticed the breast milk bottle was scorching hot. This really upset me. They should know how to heat up a breast milk bottle, they run a daycare after all. This should be a daycare 101. So, the very same night we sent them an email to cancel our contract with them and we didn't go back. The facility is pretty new so it looks clean. However, the infant class teacher actually cleaned the floor with a baby bib when I was there. Really? Really?!

Warning Sign to Parents - Don't ignore when your child cry when leaving home or at drop-off for…read morechildcare during your absence: We started using KinderCare Learning Center; 225 Washington St in Woburn, MA about 15 years ago. We had a great experience with this center and have been happy to pay the high cost for childcare since we trusted that our children were safe, well taken care of and were happy at the center. This provided a hug relief to my husband and I since we both work full-time and rely solely on the Center for our childcare needs. We relied on this place for so long including during snowstorms. Our recent experience with 225 Washington Street KinderCare Learning Center in 2023 has been a complete nightmare. Our 3.9 years-old daughter who is very pleasant and happy suddenly started crying when leaving home and at drop-off because she didn't want to go there. Then she got bit by another child underneath her eye on 28-Jun-2023 (pictures). When I inquired on 29-Jun-2023, the Center Director said she didn't know what happened to my child and there was no incident report! When I took my child to her class and asked the teachers what happened, they didn't know neither. However, my daughter said very clearly that she was bit and gave name of the child who bit her while pointing at the child. My daughter kept repeating the child's name and said she bit me, that was not nice. The teachers who were presence at the drop-off time understood clearly what my child was saying, without any confusion. Those teachers said they would address the issue with the other parents. I thanked them and kindly asked them to keep their eyes out to assure my child was not subjected to such injury again. When I went back to the office on my way out, I told the Center Director that we figured out what happened, another kid bit my child. I asked the Director to address the issue so that the teachers are aware about such incidents when they occur. The Center Director threw her hands up in the air "I can't guarantee it won't happen again!" I was completely stunned and furious. I asked if that implied my child would keep being subjected to physical injury under their care, which is a complete negligence. I asked for investigation into why a child was bit/injured and no one knew about it nor it was documented. The director told me that she would address the issue. At the pickup time that day, the director said she addressed the issue and incident report was available. When I saw the incident report, they documented that my child was scratched slightly on the face. This was a complete fabrication of what happened and was extremely and I was not sure why there was a cover-up to what happened? I asked the Center Director that what was going on is unacceptable and I needed an answer. The center director and assistant director completely went out of control to why I was demanding an answer. I let the 2 know who are new that my children have been going to this Center for about 15 years. I added that my daughter would not be going back there effective immediately. I told them that my expectation is that if a child in their care is hurt, the adults would be aware of what happened and have documented incident report. I took my daughter to the doctor, she evaluated and put on antibiotics since human bit that penetrated skin can result into bacterial infection from the other's bodily fluid/saliva. We followed with an email to the organization and the Center Director that our daughter would not be going back to their Center effective immediately. We requested that they terminate all communication and auto-pay. We have not got any communication from the center director to this date. She ignored our request to cease correspondences and have been sending communications as if nothing happened. Our daughter has not gone back to the center since the incident, and we were not charged for the care a week after the incident. However, this week, the director of KinderCare Learning Center at 225 Washington decided to resume withdrawing money from our account/ charging us for the Childcare even though my daughter has not been there since this incident and will not be going there again. Other issues with KinderCare at 225 Washington St, Woburn, MA in 2023 include: Closure of the Child Care classes at moment notice - while being charged the regular Childcare fees and being told to look for alternative childcare for days that classrooms are closed. This practice continued until parents complained, then the center Director started halting charges for days that classes were closed. So, parents, please, be vigilant to any behavioral changes that you noticed from your child. Please, do not ignore if you notice changes in your child behavior when you leave them in someone else care.

I suffered separation anxiety when I returned to work. Francine really made me feel comfortable and at ease. Although I worked 7 minutes away- I did a few drive thru so I can ease my nerves. Ms. Lani has always made me feel comfortable. I have had the pleasure of dealing with some of the most caring individuals. I have no regrets or complaints as a parent. I am very pleased and grateful that my son is in good hands. Verbal and written communication is good for me because I want to know what my child worked on or what is missing. Francine really helped me through the transitional period of returning to work. More importantly, Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are provide as part of tuition. Less headache in the morning. Overall, the staff have exceeded my expectations professionally and academically. I am extremely picky about my children's surrounding and provider. From the first day, Ms. Lani took my son while doing the tour and changed his diaper without asking. From that time they won my heart. My son really loves them especially Ms. Lani. As a parent, knowing your children are safe and in good hands is what matters most. I am please to say we made a good choice.

I also have to say the center director, Ashley, is outstanding! I truly can not say enough good things about her. She is always very informative, communicates information about the center often and quick to respond whenever my husband or I have any questions or concerns. She makes herself available to parents at any time. Ashley interacts with the kids and they love her! She is also very organized and when she says she will follow up she does and never forgets. The building is definitely on the older side but the care my daughter receives surpasses everything. Finally, I love that I get daily pictures of my daughter and updates about her daily routine through their Kindercare App.

The staff is talented and committed. There is a parent participation component, as with all cooperative programs. This is something that drew me to the program. I was amazed my first year how varied people's situations are - one or both parents working outside the home part or full time, nanny's, grandparents and family friends helping out at pick-up and drop-off, as well as moms and dads working as stay-at-home parents. I didn't carpool, but some families arranged carpools. I often swapped child-care of my youngest daughter (when my oldest was in school) on parent-help days and then would watch another family's younger child when it was their turn. I've benefited from the sense of community at the school, and the chance to have a few hours every month or so to be with my child at school. The best part though is the positive experience my children have had at the school, developing social skills and learning through play.

It is a cooperative program, so you have to be open to that aspect. I personally loved helping in the classroom and getting to observe my child interacting with his friends. There are some volunteer components -- one work day a year to help maintain the school and grounds and service on one committee -- but they certainly aren't onerous. It's not for everyone, but so far I've found it very manageable as a working parent. The other parents are very supportive and open to switching schedules. I'm new to town, so I've found it a valuable way to meet other people and find a sense of community. The curriculum is play-based, so the focus is more on developing imagination, healthy social interaction, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how the curriculum develops as my son progresses.
