I came here on a Saturday evening with my family so the kids can play on the playground and…read morealthough we had a great time, this wasn't the place for us. The park is small but has what is needed. There are BBQ areas and picnic tables as well as some grass and a small playground. There is also some parking available in a lot but you can also park on the street. The playground is fenced in which I really liked but it also has to be fenced in because this park is right on the street, and it's a busy one with a lot of speeders. I was very aware of the closure to the playground ensuring everyone who came and went closed it behind them and if not going to it immediately to make sure it got closed. The playground equipment is small but had some slides the kids liked and a few swings. There are also 2 stationary play cars my boys loved so much. Although the boys had fun here we won't come back because of how close this is to the road. If we aren't in the playground area and we wanted to have a picnic it would be a constant worry and I wouldn't be able to let me kids get more than an arms reach away from me. There are better parks to go to.

We generally find the park to be a wonderful amenity, and we deeply appreciate its natural beauty. However, during our visit yesterday, we encountered several situations that significantly detracted from our experience and raised concerns regarding safety and park regulations. While walking along one of the trails, particularly towards the end, we observed a large group of individuals from foreign country spreading throughout the area. Concurrently, we noticed a distinct and pervasive odor of cannabis. Further along the path, my family and I also observed three men gathered near a rock formation up the hill. As we were returning from our walk, we witnessed an individual openly smoking a cigarette. We understand that smoking is generally prohibited in public park areas, especially given the presence of families and children. Additionally, as my children were enjoying their scooters near the path, a vehicle approached at what appeared to be excessive speed, estimated around 30 mph, without slowing down. This incident was particularly alarming as it created an immediate safety concern for my children and other park users. Collectively, these incidents led us to feel a degree of discomfort and concern for our family's safety, prompting us to conclude our visit earlier than planned. I wanted to bring these matters to your attention in the hope that appropriate measures can be considered to ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. Went back to the park proper, made a left towards YMCA and recognized the blue, green painted courts below eye level parallel to the freeway. Almost went to Big Rock in Santee this morning which has eight dedicated pickleball courts but more players. La Mesita on the other hand, has the same number of pickleball courts, four of which are newly resurfaced. They have a smaller crowd which means shorter wait times, some good shade, but adds four miles to my drive - a small price to pay to feed my quasi-addiction. It only took 2.5 hours to meet my minimum daily game quota of four challenging matches and I didn't encounter any aggro ball smashers. This is the ninth East County pickleball venue I have played at and can easily become one of my favorites.

I have discovered this sweet little park to pass time until I need to be there. It's green and lush and shady. There are people walking, sitting at tables and pushing their kids around in Strollers. It's a nice place to stop and just relax, take a few minutes out of your day and find some calm. Definitely a neighborhood gem and a nice place for all the medical staff nearby to take a break

There is a larger exercise area with equipment as well and a place to ride bikes, scooters or play catch. There is a parking lot of you can park along the street. Pavilion areas are available for birthday parties and seem to be a first come first serve. I remember a parent saying her dad went out there at 6am to just sit and make sure they had it reserved for their 10am party. You can bbq and bring other foods. I think there is space for a small bounce house. Lately, it's gotten popular and the park etiquette is lower. People leave trash when there are bins available, play loud and inappropriate music (lots of cursing, vulgar language during our last visit), smoking weed (last visit). It was very crowded and more adults or teens than young children around. Overall, still like this park option due to proximity to home, bathrooms available, water fountain available, ice cream truck visits routinely and depending on the day/time it's not too many people. The kids always play nice and my daughter makes new friends each visit.

The park consists of two acres and offers all new playground equipment and exercise stations. The park has E.V. charging stations, restrooms with drinking fountains, and well shaded picnic tables with trashed cans and recycling containers as well. It has a small lawn area and small outside theater for presentation and such. According to the county's website, the park is open from 9:30 am to 7 pm. There's a small parking lot available and street parking as well.

There are several picnic tables, including one large one next to the restrooms, large enough to accommodate a classroom. I noticed drinking fountains and benches around. The baseball fields are sized based on their league, but the grass does need some TLC given the many uneven areas. I learned you can rent parts of the park for large parties and celebrations.

With regarding baseball it's the best field setup for little league. There wasn't a parking lot but there is plenty of street parking and I had no problem finding a spot to park right across from the playground. The street it is on was pretty slow so we had no issues or worries about crossing the street but we also could have parked on the other side if we did. The park is pretty sizable. There is a great amount of grass you can picnic on, hang out at, play, whatever you decide. There is also basketball courts to ply on and they aren't right on top of other areas so you really can play and not have any worries. There is also a playground that has both a toddler area and a big kid area. There are also some picnic tables built in near the playground area. While we ran around the grass and basketball area a bit, the main reason for our visit was for the playground. I loved how big the toddler play structure was. It gave a lot of space for my kids to run around and not be on top of other kids. There were also some really great slide options on this structure. We also played on the big kid structure which was a great combo of climbing and normal structures. My toddler stayed on the half that he could easily handle and skipped the climbing. The slides on this structure were awesome and really fast. There were no problems with him playing with the big kids either. There are also a few random playground pieces like the swings, some game areas, and monkey bars. The playground bottom is wood chips which is incredibly common but not my favorite for playgrounds. It is hard to clean up, it often pokes and hurts us at some point as well, and not that great when you fall on it. There are no bathrooms here which is okay for us now but I will have to remember for once we start potty training. The last negative to me is the lack of extra shade on the playground equipment. There are some great trees that offer shade and the playground structures have tops on a couple of the areas but those tops are more decorative than function and it is currently hot and sunny out! I wished my kids had been in more shade and it made the slides really hot. Overall, we had a lot of fun here and we know we will be back but the lack of shade is big for us and our fair skinned kids so we will wait for fall/winter to come back when we do t need the shade as much.
