Rolled into the La Mesita Park not knowing where the pickleball courts were and ended up at Jr Seau Sports Complex up the hill. Went back to the park proper, made a left towards YMCA and recognized the blue, green painted courts below eye level parallel to the freeway. Almost went to Big Rock in Santee this morning which has eight dedicated pickleball courts but more players. La Mesita on the other hand, has the same number of pickleball courts, four of which are newly resurfaced. They have a smaller crowd which means shorter wait times, some good shade, but adds four miles to my drive - a small price to pay to feed my quasi-addiction. It only took 2.5 hours to meet my minimum daily game quota of four challenging matches and I didn't encounter any aggro ball smashers. This is the ninth East County pickleball venue I have played at and can easily become one of my favorites. read more

Came to La Mesita to play some pickleball during the holidays! The courts were semi full, with two courts in the back free. The people were very friendly and we had a lot of fun games. The parking was a bit of a struggle with the YMCA still in session. Other than parking, it is a great place to stop by and play a few games while enjoying the scenery!! read more

This is more like 4.5 stars rounded up. Most every Thursday I play pickleball here with some buddies. They have 8 courts to play for free, which is more than most everywhere else in the city. Unfortunately, the byproduct of this is that the lines to play get really long. It's not uncommon to wait 30 minutes to play a game. Then if you lose you're back to waiting again. So it can be hard to get into a flow for playing. As for the park itself, the place is popping. There send seems to be a barbecue or birthday party every time I visit. Ample parking since it's right beside a YMCA. And easily accessible as well. A couple of tennis courts, play structure, skate park, and big field round out the other amenities. Plus a better than expected restroom and water fountain to boot. read more

This is a great park. Lots of open space, nice green grass. A walking path that goes all the way around. Playground for kids. Good amount of parking. Room for get togethers and playing sports. Right next to the YMCA tennis and pickle ball courts. I bring my dogs here for walks or just to sit. Not overly busy. read more

Park has a beautiful green field. Haven't tried their skate park but others have told me it's great. Playground is fine. The tallest slide sends the little kids flying and could be dangerous if someone's not there to catch them. It can also get very hot. There's a good amount of shade and a quaint walking path. Bathrooms don't have doors, it's dark, and it's hit or miss on cleanliness. read more

This was my first time coming to this park. I actually got lost, because the park is not visible from the street, so when you turn on Dallas Street, the park will be on your left side. I was actually surprise how nice this park was and had a huge playground for your kiddos! It was also very clean and lots of parking spaces! They also had a few bbq grills!! read more

It's OK, there are other parks with more to offer on the playground. My toddler liked the slide and swing, which is why I give it 4 stars.

This park has really come up. It has well kept lush grass fields, rental-able party spaces, Pickleball and tennis courts, a skatepark, and more. There are lots of sidewalks and paths to walk, ride, or skate around, however I usually just take advantage of the great Pickleball courts. The Pickleball courts are a great time for a few reason: 1. They are free 2. The condition of the courts are good, and there have been rumors or adding a few more courts 3. The community is great. The are a few groups of regulars who are very welcoming, and there are people of all levels looking for friendly competition read more

I like this park for many reasons Lots of parking. Private parking lot and street parking It's a walking park, meaning lots of sidewalks and paths and stairs. Stairs are key when trying to get in shape Clean Skateboard park within the park Play area for kids Lots a grass to run. When you have children you need space to run and throw balls and frisbees Great area for a picnic Tennis courts. They seem to be full most the time but nonetheless, tennis courts. This is a great park and has a lot to offer the local community. The green belt is very well maintained. The grass is a luscious green and cropped to a perfect height for a variety of activities. There's a couple of children playground equipment station sitting on sand. There are plenty of shaded benches covered by mature trees and a couple of small covered pavilions for larger parties with charcoal BBQ stands nearby. Adjacent to the park and near the Y, are some well maintained tennis courts. There is a sidewalk that meanders around the park which is perfect of walking, running, children who are learning to ride, and dog walking. Doggie poop bags are available. There's a good size parking lot available and parking along the street is available. Great park. read more

Great park for a party. The gazebo is reasonably priced at $85 and that includes an inflatable permit. The park and bathrooms are cleaned daily and always look nice. No one is living in the bushes like some other parks in the neighborhood so thats a double plus ++ read more

The womens bathroom is extremely run down. One door is missing the other doors hinges look like they were kicked in so does not close and lock. The bathroom is dirty and gross. Place is a bit run down but still a great place. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained. There's tennis courts and a skate park too.

A good park to spend some time at, a place for kids to ride bikes, tennis court, skatepark. The reason I give it three starts is due to the kids playground being super basic and not little kid friendly. We mainly come here for the skate park, but it would be really nice if they redid the playground or at the least added a baby swing. read more

We've had at least a couple of our kids' birthday parties here over the years. It is a great place for a party with plenty of tables and grills and a big open expanse for the kids to get out there and throw a ball around or hit some badminton. No mess in your house--all the cake crumbs land on the ground and sticky fingerprints get washed away in the next rain! read more

Great place to bring your dogs or your kids, lots to do. It's right next to the YMCA so they are always having events for the little ones. People are always having party's here on the weekends. They have a nice playground and a path to walk around the big field of green grass with your pets. I recommend this park if you're in the area. read more

Decent park, but (from what the people in our party said) the bathrooms were disgusting and some teenagers ended up using the entire big grassy area for some frisbee game. The kids in our party could get anywhere near them. :( read more

Really like this park. Nice and spacious, shaded areas to escape from the brutal afternoon sun, decent sized playground and a great skate park behind the tennis courts. The only thing that is not so nice are the bathrooms. Otherwise, great place to bring the kids and let them ride around on their bike, scooter, skateboards, etc. read more

I really like this park. The park sits between a Middle School and the 125 freeway. But the freeway is out of sight and sound, thanks to landscaping and fences. Tennis courts and a skate park are popular, while the large, grassy field is home to many youth soccer practices. There is ample shade and parking. read more

My family has been coming here for years for birthday parties and for our annual Fourth of July picnic. The park is always clean and well-maintained. I like that there is a huge grassy area good for family football games or baseball, as well as a playground for little ones. This is a wonderful park for teaching kids to ride bikes, too. There is a large paved flat area near the playground as well as a smooth cement pathway all the way around the perimeter of the park, and all of this is easily visible from almost any part of the park. This makes it easy for me to sit down in one spot and keep an eye on my two kiddos--one usually sticks to the playground and the other rides around the park on his bike. Be sure to bring some antibacterial gel though because there is no soap offered in the restrooms. read more

This is a nice park full of space. There is plenty of grass to run around in with your children to play games such as soccer or football. The play structure area is great for the kids. There is also a tennis court as well as an area Rollerskate. I think this is a great park and definitely a choice for anyone who wants to get away for a little bit of time with their children. It is generally clean. I do think that the tables should be placed in a more constructive location. Other than that I think this is a great park. read more

This is a well maintained park in La Mesa. The playground equipment is in pretty good shape and the softball field is nice with a concession stand. The park is on the small side which is why I only gave it three stars and there is no shade provided except for the trees, but otherwise it's a nice place to take your kids. read more
