On 9/17/2015, I sent my mother's cat to be preserved, wishing that she would have changed her mind about the process before her cat died. The cat was supposed to be done within 4-6 months. My mom kept asking me to call about her cat at the beginning of March, 2016 because she had not gotten her cat back. I finally called Jim at the end of March 2016. My mom finally received the shipment on 4/11/16 and when she opened the box, she realized that the cat was not hers and she called me, crying and obviously very upset. I emailed Jim at preserved pets and sent pictures of the cat she received, along with pictures of her cat when she was alive. Jim called and at first he said he must not have ever received her cat, which really had my mom upset. Less than a day later, Jim found my mom's cat and sent a picture of it to make sure it was hers, which it was. We shipped the wrong cat back and got her a week later. My mom was okay with it, but I thought she looked terrible. Hopefully I can attach a photo so others can see what she looked like. Anyway, I bought an expensive wood base acrylic display case to put her in to keep her clean. Within one month, I noticed moths inside the case. I bought some moth balls, put them in the case and it helped for a little while. It has been about a year and a half now, and I was cleaning out the case and there were more moths in the cat and they had eaten away most of the fur on the back and the rest of the fur was falling off. I know that this is not the fault of Jim at preserved pets, but this is a warning that if you spend $800.00 plus dollars to preserve a pet, expecting it to last, you'll be disappointed. There is a disclaimer about bugs that you must sign when you get your pet done, but I assumed that if you kept the pet clean and properly stored, that bugs would not be an issue. We lost our beautiful girl suddenly 6 months ago. Our pet sitter lost her, and after 3 days of searching we found Maisy dead. Hit by a car. It is devastating enough to lose a pet like that, but so suddenly and violently. It ripped our hearts out. She had a beautiful soul that we would never get back. As I did research online and learned that I could keep her with us physically, it was just too good to be true. I had no idea that this was something people did. Sure I knew about traditional taxidermy, but I was unaware of Jim's process at Preserved Pets. I was instantly comforted when I realized that it was an option for us. From start to finish, Jim was nothing short of professional and courteous. He treated me with the kind of respect and patience that one would encounter when planning a wake or a funeral. The anxiety we felt at the thought of packing up that sweet girl and sending her so far away was eased by Jim's calm and reassuring nature. I felt that he would respect Maisy too, and so we sent her to him. Maisy came back home 3 days ago, and she is beautiful and peaceful looking. We're so glad that we chose the path that we did. Being able to have her with us was so important, and we take comfort in her everlasting sleep pose. Jim's wonderful service came into my life at a time of great loss. The heartbreaking experience of I watching my puppy suffer and knowing that he would no longer be by my side was traumatizing. So I decided to search for an alternative way to transition into a life with out him, and Preserved Pets was the perfect solution for me. Jim walked me through the entire process on the phone. Completely taking time to answer all my questions and listen to my story. I decided to take the 6 hour drive to his studio and was glad I did. When I met Jim and his lovely family I knew I was in the right place. The studio was full of life and love, with paintings made by his adorable kids on the walls. The intake process was seamless. My wife lost her cat of 22 years last year and she was heartbroken. The loss of Oreo was like losing her best friend. I discovered Preserved Pets. After a brief discussion with Jim I mailed him our cat's tail (the only part of Oreo she wanted to keep). He is a very relaxed guy and I felt like Oreo was in good hands. A few short months later he informed me that the tail was ready and shipped it back to me. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Fair price, great work, true to his word. Word of advice: For anyone who is used to overly formal processes and stuffy people, please don't let Jim's super laid back Cali demeanor worry you! My 13 year-old dog "Buddy" passed away suddenly on April 2, 2018. I knew this sad day would come and I had prepared to send him to Preserved Pets. I made the phone call and delivered the dog same day. I just picked him up yesterday. It only took 4 months and 11 days for my Buddy to come home with us again! Buddy is a large dog, weighed about 116 pounds, and now his weight is much less that I can hold him up without difficulty. I am very happy with the result. first of all I would like to say ,my first impression of jim was vary good vary ( pro) ,he explaned everything ,as to what to expect after pebbles would be sent back to me. he said that all anamals will finish the same there could be diferances the way pebbles befor the proceger and after the proceger it is good that there is people like jim that does this proceger for people lik me ,a vary hartful thanks to you jim from my wife and me ,she came back just in time for christmass,again thank you jim,god bless you read more

Jim is a true artisan in the field of taxidermy, and the technique of freeze drying a friend you can't say goodbye to just yet, at a very reasonable price also.
