Was looking for a taxidermist as time was of the essence coming home with a trophy buck on a Sat night. Early Sunday morning I started looking and calling local taxidermists. Simon was the FIRST to respond, prompt on returning my call. Within a few hours, I was at his property in Norco where he works from. My initial impression was great. Simons eagerness and professionalism was shown as he expressed his own passion for hunting. He is a small business owner which allows him to work around the clock. To be able to a prompt response on a Sunday morning is unheard of! Simon sent pictures of steps he's taken to prepare for the process and has included me in every step. Within 2 days, this buck has officially been scored by the Boone and Crocket Club. Simon also mailed us a copy for record. Update to my status. I submitted a Small Claims Case with the Corona Courthouse. Simon declined to show up to either of the two hearings, despite being served twice. Due in part, I received a judgement in my favor. In all, the judge found Simon Romero guilty - he took my money, took my birds and did not perform the service he guaranteed to me almost 5 years ago. If you are in the same situation and are considering submitted a Small Claims Case against Simon Romero, you can access the case files, they should be public records by now. ZERO STARS, COMPLETE FRAUD! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!! Took our money and our tortoise that we were devastated to lose to Simon in June of 2022. We were told by Simon that it would take approximately 9-11 months because the tanning process takes months and that payment is required in full at time the animal is dropped off . Fast forward to today, May 2025!!! I can not get in touch with Simon. He requires payment when you drop off the animal, but then he never does the job and will not respond to you.....you will literally never hear from this man ever again, complete thief!! This is criminal because he's doing it to multiple people. No tortoise shell for us to remember our beloved pet and that hurts worse than the $100's of dollars Simon has stolen from my son and I. Through online research between me and other victims, Simon and his wife have been traveling all over the place, Hawaiian vacations, Bahama cruises and I'm certain they are funding these trips with the stolen funds from his FAKE BUSINESS!!! I'm currently reaching out to The Better Business Bureau, Norco police department where Simon lives, other victims that have expressed the same experience here on Yelp and already filed police reports as well, also contacting an attorney to potentially take this business to court for a class action lawsuit. read more

well, 31 months after I paid in full for a *mounted* fox skull, Simon finally mailed an embarrassingly low effort/value piece after ignoring dozens of my calls for months. I sent one last angry text and he mailed the fox/glass less than 30 minutes later. Meaning this was either a slapdash, last minute throw together, or it had been sitting in his workshop not completed for months and he just never bothered to mail it until I got assertive. Please see the attached picture for the UNmounted, unconnected jaw/skull pieces, and a cheap glass display that he didn't even bother removing the sticker from. I'm blown away by the lack of craftmanship and effort in both pieces. I repeatedly reminded him that I wanted a MOUNTED skull. If I simply wanted a cleaned skull I could have just done that myself for free, as I have many times before. He lied about his ability to process the fox. So not only did I have to wait two years to finally get my original fox back in a format I did not pay for, but he also ruined a very sentimental specimen to me. So of course I complained, he gave a laundry list of emotional excuses, and we agreed he would send me a separate *mounted* fox in lieu of sending back my fox to get it rightfully repaired/assembled. Months go by, and the second picture is what he eventually sends... So, all in all, 2.5 years for him to ruin my original precious gray fox, waste my time and money, and not deliver on what I contracted him to make. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to look elsewhere for your taxidermy needs. This man is unethical and unskilled, and will take an unreasonably long time for lackluster results. read more

Gave him cash deposit because he said that that way he gets to work on them right away because he knows the client Also one time he told me he needed shotgun shells to go on a trip with an outdoor sporting company so I drove over there and brought him shells so he could go on his hunt. No thanks nothing also his daughter was getting married and they had no power to the tent so I went in there and installed all the power for him about $1500 worth of labor no thanks no money no credit yeah I guess I'm stupid and don't learn from my experience we're supposed to go on a deer hunt with him canceled also supposed to go on another deer hunt with him this year. My friend gave him $5000 deposit and he canceled the same week. We were supposed to leave for the trip at this point. My friend is over at his house trying to get the money back. Livid is an understatement. We dropped off our birds over a year and a half ago and have followed up multiple times regarding the birds we dropped off. We aren't sure if what Simon says is accurate, and we've stopped believing him because it sounds like the tale of the boy who cries wolf. He'll tell my husband one thing, I'll act as a customer and call back the same day and pretend to be a new customer, and he is ready to take on new customers. Simons a nice guy but his life is more important right now than to complete your projects. I don't blame him for that, but it's not cool to continue collecting money upfront and not intend to finish the work. We put trust in him by paying upfront like he asks but what company does that. It's usually a deposit system and pay the rest when the work is completed. That should've been a red flag from the start, then I started to read the 1 star reviews. Simon doesn't update you on the work and complains when other people bring it up. It's not professional if you can talk about your other clients like that. Taxidermist needs time but you need to keep us in the loop with evidence. He tells you he'll send photos of the progress but never does. He will reply to your messages in the first 6 months but won't respond the next half and we become complete strangers again. Service hasn't been completed as of today, words are just words. No actual proof. He may have been the best in the past with good intentions but he may be giving up on his projects and just collecting money I'm assuming. I'd like to start by saying Simon is a great guy and does awesome work. After my last hunt I wanted to get some taxidermy work done and reached out to Simon. He was out of town doing some work for Disneyland but told me I could drop my stuff by with his brother . After speaking with a couple taxidermist in a different part of the state Simons prices were fair and his timeline was actually a lot quicker . His is a dying art and there are not to many taxidermist available to do work so most will be out 1-2 years!!! Flash forward the timeline was not as fast as initially quoted however he did warn me that would probably happen and that he was busy and fitting me in. I went by today and saw Simons work when I picked up my piece . It is pretty amazing to see what he does - especially with the fish. But he shoulder mounts are pretty amazing as well. Well if I could give this company zero stars I would I dropped my deer off just over two years ago in November 13 of 2020, I have reached out to him several times in the beginning it was it's coming in two weeks then it was too hot it's coming next week to where now he won't respond, I am fortunate to have a good lawyer that has submitted a lawsuit against him as of today. I found Simon on Yelp and he answered his phone first call. I brought in an original skin mount from 1974 hooked off Catalina by my Grandfather, so the piece held some significance to me. Simon is a cool dude and had a good appreciation for the origin of the fish so I felt comfortable working with him immediately. I paid him in full when I dropped off the fish and had it back on my wall quicker than what he quoted me. He cured a bug infestation and did a full restoration.
