I found Presidential Properties after seeing their posts on Craigslist, and out of all the agencies I contacted, they were the most professional throughout the entire process. Kristie emailed me back promptly with a questionnaire to see what I was looking for and what she could offer me. She set me up to look at apartments with Angela, who was very pleasant and honest about the places we were seeing. In less than an hour, I had found an apartment that fit my budget, and it was recently renovated and professionally managed. I signed the lease two days later. I still browse the Craigslists posts and feel like I landed an incredible apartment for the price, so these people did me a great service. Some may not be willing to pay a finder's fee, but Presidential Properties has access to places you'd never find otherwise, they're extremely professional, and the process is as quick and stress-free as you could ever imagine. I would definitely work with them again if I wanted a Beacon Hill apartment, and I've recommended them to friends who are in the market for places. read more

I must have worked with 10 brokers in the Boston area when moving from the West Coast, and Presidential was one of my favorites. -The staff is very responsive. I'd email Kristie to schedule a viewing, and she would confirm the appointment a few hours later. When my first choice apartment fell through at the last moment, Keith was able to accommodate me on a 15 minute notice. -Their apartments are all in good to great shape, and there are multiple choices. On our last showing, we saw 7 apartments. I was really excited about 1, was considering the other 2, and the remaining apartments I could have lived in if there was no better choice. All apartments were within my price range and fit my specifications. -The website is great: the listings are up-to-date, with great photos. -Most of the apartments are exclusives, which means you wouldn't find them through other brokers who merely comb through MLS listings. This also means you don't get screwed by seeing and liking an apartment that has already been rented (which did happen to me with another broker). -Finally, everyone we met and worked with at Presidential was very professional and knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. We ended up renting with another broker because the timing worked out better, but I highly recommend anyone looking for an apartment in Beacon Hill to talk to Presidential first! read more

I worked with PP when I was looking for an apartment for the fall. Although I ended up finding a place on my own, this was my first experience with a broker and it was very pleasant. Patricia Donovan was prompt and accommodating with her reply to my inquiry about their listings. She worked around my complicated schedule to get me in when I could make it to see the listings. Having never worked with a broker, I expected someone who would be pushy and brash, and I was very pleased to find that not to be the case in this instance. Patricia was very friendly and informative, and I definitely left my showing ready to work with her again. The apartments she showed me were lovely, and she obviously takes professionalism and tenant care very seriously. They had listings up in January for September Beacon Hill apartments--you can't get that anywhere else! They worked with my schedule to get me in to see a property I was very interested in by coming in earlier than they were open for business and were upfront about everything in the process. Unlike the vast majority of agencies only interested in their bottom line with ill prepared agents who know very little of the industry, customer service, or follow through, the staff at Presidential Properties are completely professional, responsive, and efficient. We committed on the first property we saw with them and signed the lease the following day after the credit and background check. The process was easy because they actually listen to what you're after, don't waste your time on places that aren't a match, and are just a real breath of fresh air to work with. This review is for Presidential Properties the real estate company NOT The management company. I think a couple of reviews have mixed up the two on this page. I worked with Kevin as our real estate broker. As a whole I wasn't ecstatic about paying a broker fee but that is the price of living in downtown Boston and getting a good apartment. Kevin as a broker was really great. He got a feel for what we were looking for immediately. He made himself available at off hours and showed us apartments multiple times to accommodate my roommates and my differing schedules. He is very straight forward and honest. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell us or tell us to lower our expectations to make a quick commission. After finding us a great place, Kevin even offered to go back and measure the rooms with all of us to make sure our furniture fit. It was awesome that he offered his time even after the deal was closed. During the closing process we worked with Kristie Aussubel. She is very professional and on top of her game. She answered all our questions immediately and negotiated on our behalf. I think the reason why she stands out is because her communication was clear and concise. It really was no work on our behalf. I found Presidential Properties as I clicked through various listings on Zillow. Once I made it to their main webpage I was impressed with the site layout and how easy it was to view apartments that were available. I requested assistance from one of their agents once I decided that Beacon Hill was the best option for my apartment search. Kristie was extremely helpful in setting up a first round of showings and replied to my emails promptly - within hours - which seemed almost luxurious when comared to the numerous other agencies I reached out to for apartments. I had contacted 12 other agencies in the Boston area prior to finding Presidential and none of them had found me a single apartment - Presidential had many for me to see almost immediately. She set us up with a great agent, Ashley, who was very friendly and really understood what my boyfriend and I were looking for in an apartment. Despite not finding a good spot on the first round of viewings, Kristie and her team contacted us immediately to set up a second round of apartments to view with a wide variety available that matched our exapanded requirements and budget. On the second round, we found a perfect place (we saw 10 apartments during round 2) and once we signed the applications, the process was flawless. We received great directions on how to proceed once we were approved and received leasing materials within 3 days of viewing the apartment. I was very pleased that Kristie replied to questions about the lease almost instantaneously and was very helpful as we arranged a time to bring her the signed paperwork. I would strongly recommend Presidential Properties for anyone looking to rent in Beacon Hill - the apartments available are in a wide price range and are all in a terrific neighborhood close to all kinds of shops, grocery stores and public transportation. Presidential Properties is a hidden gem and I'd say anyone should give them a try if looking to rent in this area. The service is efficient, professional and the process is seamless and hassle-free. This was probably one of the worst apartment hunting experiences of my life. Throughout the process, it was very clear that the firm did not care about the wellbeing of their customers, but was instead simply trying to finagle any money they could out of their bait. When I mentioned my dissatisfaction and disappointment with the firms practices, I was chastised for "tarnishing and slandering the company" when all I had done was directly express my dissatisfaction. PLEASE do not be as stupid as me and be FOOLED by some of the reviews on here. It is CLEAR that the firm asks customers to post reviews after renting apartments and CHERRY PICKS the reviews that they like while directly contacting yelp to delete any below a 3. (Scroll below to where the owner pretty much admits this.) AWFUL experience. P.S. I was told that if I did post any reviews that they would deny ever working with me and would say that they checked their record book and could not find me. I just want to say that this is FALSE. My roommates and I had a wonderful experience working with Kevin and Kristie at Presidential Properties. One roommate reached out to them after seeing an apartment on Zillow. Kristie's emails were always prompt and friendly. When our rental application was accepted, she sent us an email immediately, even though it was almost midnight on Saturday (they knew how nervous we were!). We loved visiting apartments with Kevin. He was knowledgeable and professional, plus just a nice guy. He dealt with our millions of questions in person, by email, and by text with huge patience. We had been quite nervous about affording an apt in Beacon Hill, especially with the broker fee, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Presidential Properties myself, or to recommend them to a friend. I've used Presidential twice, and had two very different experience. I'm going to split the difference between a 5-star unit and a serious 1-star unit. Last year, we ended up in a "too good to be true" cheap Gora Banerjee apartment in Beacon Hill. Small and dated, who cares? But we soon learned that EVERYTHING was in need of repair to the point of being a serious safety hazard. The heat was a space heater installed into the wall (just "on/off" with a straight resistance heating coil), and there were days when the temperature couldn't get above the 50s inside. The wiring was terrifying-- we couldn't use a hair dryer or even a George Foreman grill or it'd trip a circuit. Once, flipping it back led to the circuit sparking and falling out of the wall into my hand. And the fuse box was in the bedroom-- where the only fire escape were two windows with bars and locks on them. I was pretty sure we were going to die in that place. We moved in to find that when the upstairs neighbors showered, we got an unbelievable "leak" like a faucet running through the ceiling into our apartment. Gora tried to say this was from water splashing over the side because the guy upstairs was very tall. Oh, if you could see the water pouring from the ceiling! Needless to say, black mold, damp air, and weird smells were a constant struggle in the unit. He never ended up fixing one of the giant holes he left in the ceiling from a DIY "repair." There were gross, broken construction materials behind the unit, in our hallway and surrounding the water heater (old paint cans, moldy pieces of carpet, broken glass windows, rusted pieces of metal), adding to my fear of dying in a fire and not being able to get out of the only exit. The icing on the cake was the chipping paint everywhere, which we later learned we had been lied to about containing lead. We ended up terminating the lease early. Save yourself that headache and just don't rent a Banerjee property in the first place. But two years ago.... Presidential put us into the most AMAZING place in Beacon Hill. They went through the trouble of calling us the minute the unit landed on their desk. The space was excellent, and the landlord was easy. One time something broke, we called him, and it was fixed the next day like it was no big deal. It was such a lovely place. I'll disclose that the terrible Gora place and the excellent Myrtle St place were different price points. But there is no excuse for anyone, at ANY price point, to live in a dangerous place like we were in. They wouldn't give us the landlord's name before we signed the lease. We should have known that was a sure sign of trouble. Always Google your landlord! read more

I really only write a review when I really love my experience. Presidential properties is no exception. I used Dan and found him very helpful. I am from out of town and I wasn't really sure who to ask or where to look. I came across one of their ads on Craigslist. It seems to me like they are the best on beacon hill, and rightfully so. The staff was really friendly when they greeted me as I walked in. Kristie, their broker, made the experience enjoyable. She moved quickly to get me approved and to get me the answer. The office was really busy and Dan did say that there were more people interested in the space that I was looking at. Beacon Hill fills up quickly, but I came ready with a check just incase, and luckily, it all worked in my favor. I will for sure be using them again when Im ready to relocate. Dan and Kristie also mentioned that they don't do just rentals but Sales as well. I will be in the market to purchase a new place soon. I was looking to rent an apartment in Boston and contacted Presidential Properties because of their attractive web page and positive online reviews. Presidential kept a very organized, up to date web page with high quality images and great details about features and amenities. The associates were local and very responsive by email. My impression during our communications was that the broker emphasized the information that could be plugged into their search database. She ignored extraneous questions and qualitative descriptions of what I was looking for. The meeting with Presidential was rushed. We saw 6 apartments in the vicinity, and the time was limited because someone else was scheduled for showing one hour after us. The broker was a bit hurried and struggled to find the right key at each apartment entrance. After we were done, we were told that "That is all that is available" without a satisfactory answer of the frequency with which new units became available on the market. The actual units corresponded to what was on the website; however, they were (unsurprisingly) all in worse maintenance condition than the online photos. I was also suspicious that they had so many positive online reviews at a single web site that were stylistically similar, so I wanted to provide some counter-commentary here. Overall, they did an adequate job but certainly nothing that exceeded expectations for a paid brokerage firm. I was coming from out of town where the housing market was much less complicated, and I had some time to look for rentals around Beacon Hill a couple of months in advance. For someone in a similar situation - who has a little bit of time and highly values his/her living space, I would recommend going to several firms to get a more representative view of the Boston real estate market. I have used Presidential Properties for my last two apartments and they could not have been better! Worked with agent Kevin McGowan both times and he was fantastic. Not only did he know the city like the back of his hand (which was helpful since I recently moved to Boston), but he was EXTREMELY flexible scheduling wise for apartment showings. Also, there was one instance where I needed to send in my rental agreement by a certain time and could not get out of work......so Kevin came to my office in Boston and picked it up from me! Amazing. Kristie Aussubel was also great and made the process very straightforward and easy once I had found my apartments. She took care of everything from smoke detector certification to acquiring all the necessary condo docs and communicated with the overseas buyer @ all hours of the day/night. I used Presidential Properties to find my Beacon Hill apt with Patricia who was super friendly and truly knew the area. I've found that most of the rental listings in Beacon Hill are exclusive so if you want to live in Beacon Hill and aren't seeing a whole lot on Craigslist or other listings- come talk with Presidential Properties. I stayed two 12 month lease cycles in a Gora Banerjee building. These are early 1900's brownstone buildings. It's not a high end luxury renovated unit, but it proves to be amazing value as these are the most affordable units in Beacon Hill from what I've seen. Gora just put in a brand new boiler in 2015 so despite some cold Boston winters and an older building the unit has been warm. After some tough experiences with landlords elsewhere in Boston, I've found Gora to be someone who cares about his tenants (examples: Gora cleaned out and offered me an indoor ground level storage location for my bicycle free of charge, and Gora will occasionally proactively call his tenants when he will be out of town to simply check in and see if there's anything he can adjust or repair). read more

My partner and I just rented a property over in Charlestown that we found through Presidential. We worked with an agent named Norell and he was fantastic! The short version is: Norell went above and beyond to help us secure this property, a great place for 2 on a tight budget in a beautiful location. The Long Version: We were very interested in seeing the place--extremely affordable price, great location in Charlestown, perfect size for us plus possibly a dog, very exciting--but we were told that we had just missed it, someone else had applied. We asked them to keep us in mind if that application fell through for any reason. A couple days later, they let us know that it was available again. He said he would love to meet up with us and get all the paperwork together so that we could apply before someone else did. The problem was: we were both out of town, on opposite sides of the country. Not only did Norell work with us via every digital media known to man--from fax machines to picture scans and texting, emails; EVEN allowing a friend of ours to meet him in person and Facetime with us so we could do a tour of the property!!!--but he followed through with details that we missed and things that needed to be done when we were physically back in town. When we finally met him in person, he gave us warm hugs and thanked us for the experience. And we're grateful too! read more

Without knowing the area that well and my boyfriend being from outside the city, we weren't really sure what area we were interested in. When we came to our appointment we had tons of apartments to see in different areas which was helpful to see them all. We worked with Julie and she was very patient with working with us and showing us around the city. She was knowledgable about the different areas and was able to answer questions we had. I wanted a place in the Back Bay or Beacon Hill at a reasonable price, and they took my budget and neighborhood preferences into account and found me the perfect place. After doing the craigslist runaround a million times, it was so nice to have a real person should me around actual apartments. Within a day Felix had responded to my inquiry, and within a week I had found an awesome apartment in the best possible location in Back Bay. I had really high hopes for Presidential Properties, given their high rating and abundance of positive reviews on Yelp. However, my experience was quite subpar. I initially made contact through inquiring about a unit for rent on Zillow. Kristie (the owner, I believe) promptly sent me a questionnaire where I could fill out my preferences for an apartment (questions on rent, # of bedrooms, # of bathrooms, pets. etc.), and when I sent this back she also promptly set me up to meet with a broker at Presidential the next day. At this appointment. We saw a couple of units which were out of my price range, but the broker let me know that they could be negotiated down. She was honest, warm, and friendly throughout the showings, and even though the units were a reach for my budget, I was comfortable with her and felt confident that we could find an apartment that suited my needs-- it is a slow season in Boston right now and I appreciated getting a feel for what is available at different price points in Beacon Hill. She assured me that my rent budget was doable in Beacon Hill, but that there just wasn't a lot on the market at the moment. After I saw the two units, we agreed that she would email me the details on both, along with some details on additional properties in a different neighborhood that we could look at if I wanted. I let her know that I was considering one of the units that we saw, and that I would be in touch about it once I'd thought about it. I left with the expectation that I'd receive an email from her sometime that day, as she mentioned that I was her only appointment that day. I never heard from her. Later that day, I emailed her with a question on the lease terms of one unit, which I never received a response on. I texted her the next day, since I was scheduled to see more apartments with a different agency and wanted to know if she had received my email or an answer from the landlord. She said that she hadn't but that she would hear back that day and let me know. That was the last I heard from her-- no emails with details on the units we saw, no email with information on additional units (both of which we clearly discussed), and never a response on my question. I ended up signing a lease with a different broker entirely, but the whole experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth-- it was highly disappointing to just be flat-out ignored. I don't think I would recommend working with Presidential Properties to a friend, nor would I be interested in working with them myself ever again. read more

My husband and I have worked with Jennifer twice over the past 2 years and she is nothing but exceptional! 2 years ago she worked with us in buying our first condo. We weren't sure what area of the city we wanted to settle down in and she was entirely honest about the various neighborhoods, market growth in each of these areas, and what she believed to be good market value for the various condos we looked it. We finally decided to keep our search to Charlestown and she was such a wealth of knowledge having practiced real estate for over 20 years. When our bid lost on the first place we put in an offer, she was very compassionate and kept us motivated to keep looking. This enthusiasm and hard work got our offer accepted on first home in Charlestown. A couple months ago we decided that we wanted a bit more space and parking. There was no doubt we were going to call Jennifer. She was very accommodating to our schedules as my husband and I are basically on opposite shifts. When we did find our dream home she was very honest about the comparisons in the area and what she believed would be a good offer. It was accepted! Now we needed to sell our Condo by the time we closed on the new property. Selling near the holidays is difficult but Jennifer put in 150% effort to make everything just right. Sure enough after the first weekend of open houses we had offers on the table. Even after we closed she went the extra mile to make sure everything was just right for us. We were preparing to move in together and had not looked at apartments in Beacon Hill (or anywhere) before. My experience with Presidential Properties was a mix of good and bad. I have worked with my fair share of brokers and saw a plethora of apartments in Boston. Presidential responded to my inquiry from Craigslist within minutes and fit me into their schedule the next day. The apartment was fantastic for the price and neighborhood, and it immediately became my top choice. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between the staff, I lost out on the apartment. After the initial contact, they were also difficult to reach. Given the countless real estate companies available in Boston, I chose not to work with them any further. read more

While I was in the rental process I didn't have a pleasant experience, rushed and they put a lot of pressure on you to sign even if the apartment isn't right for you. Now that I'm living in apartment that's a client of presidential properties it's only gotten worse. We decided not to resign our lease last month and since then our apartment has been shown over 100 times, which is upwards of three times per day. I asked one time not to have a showing on a certain day and they couldn't respect that, not really ok with how they do business. Don't even get me started on the management company-- our apartment ceiling was raining for three months this winter and rob did nothing about it. I'll never do business with them again. Edit: the apartment was actually shown 79 times in a two month period, I'm sorry to be misleading that is much more reasonable. And if it had been marketed at fair market value then I'm confused why the price had to be dropped in order for it to get rented. read more

I had been trying to find a place on Craigslist for over three months and was so tired of all the scams that I caved and looked for apartments with a broker fee. I found one I liked that was offered by Presidential Properties, emailed them, had an appointment to see the apartment the next day, and signed the lease the day after that. After what I had been through with looking on my own, it was worth the broker fee to finally have a place and be done with it. Looking for apartments is extremely stressful and I was still stressed with Presidential Properties because I wasn't the only one who wanted the unit they were showing me, but that's just how the real estate landscape is. Good apartments will always be in high demand. It was after I got my apartment that I really came to appreciate Presidential Properties. I received a welcome to the neighborhood letter, Kristie was able to get the keys early for me so that I could move in while my family was in town to help me move, and any time I emailed her, her response time was great...even days after having a newborn baby!!! When Patricia told me Kristie was having a baby my first thought was "great, I'll never hear from her again," but she was in constant contact with me and answered all of my questions within a few hours of my asking. I will most certainly be coming back to Presidential Properties the next time I need to move. They go above and beyond to be attentive and responsive. read more

When planning our move from NYC up to Boston, my girlfriend and I were frustrated with trying to find a place without being "on the ground." We spent a week or two working with another broker remotely and sifting through hundreds of listings ourselves. It was not a pleasant experience and ultimately it proved fruitless. One afternoon, when we had reached the end of our collective rope, we decided to hop a bus up to Boston to pound the pavement. Despite the short notice, Kevin, Kristie, and the team at Presidential Properties were incredibly responsive and showed us several great apartments in our desired neighborhood, in our price range, and also open to providing a home for our kitten. Kevin had a terrific attitude the entire time and was a wonderful resource. We also lived in an AWFUL GORA BANERJEE APARTMENT ON IRVING STREET. We used Presidential Properties. They gave us ZERO warning of just how much of a slumlord Gora Banerjee is. I still am in shock how awful of a human he is AND HOW ANY REAL ESTATE COMPANY COULD WORK WITH SUCH A SLUMLORD. I had to get a lawyer and break the lease after my *****CEILING COLLAPSED***** and he refused to pay to have the place cleaned, pay for a hotel for even a single night, replace my bed that was completely ruined, or my TV, and kept our last month rent (regardless of him being COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE). I put in several calls to Presidential Properties that went unanswered as we had nowhere to turn. I had emails to Gora Banerjee regarding the water damage throughout the whole building for 2 years. The City Inspectors came several times and said the whole ceiling needed to be replaced in the building and that there were major structural issues, not to mention the whole building was RIDDLED with mold. The heat NEVER worked. I have another friend living next door in a Gora aparment who is currently dealing with the same issues. Not to mention, we had mice in the apartment and he REFUSED to pay for an exterminator. STEER CLEAR OF GORA BANERJEE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE MONEY AND CONSTANTLY HAVE A HEADACHE AND NO HEAT. Also don't bother using Presidential Properties if you think they'll be a semblance of a help in an emergency situation because they certainly were not for us. read more

They are professional and most importantly follow through with everything. Just wanted to say how great Presidential Properties was to work with. We live in California and needed to rent an apartment for our daughter who attends college in Boston. Kristie and Matt were so great to work with, and made it possible for our daughter to rent a great apartment in Beacon Hill. I found Presidential properties as i was walking from seeing an apartment with another broker. They had great apartments on the window. My first showing was a little discouraging but once i asked to see the apartments in the window i was told that i deff. could. Then come to find out they were taken but angela showed us one that was similar.. and now its my apartment for next year. Angela is very nice and relatable.. She seems like a sweet person and Kristie is great. She answered any question we had (even if we asked it multiple times). If i need an apartment i will surely go back to them.
