I was at NYP for visiting hours and I was looking for someplace to grab a quick lunch. I found Prestige Deli on Yelp and it was a great find. They have a very extensive menu. My favorite was their salad (spinach or lettuce) with 5 toppings. They have a wide variety of toppings and dressings. They also make fresh juice to order. My juice of choice is the Complete Day (beets, kale, apples and carrots). The service is fast, the prices are reasonable, and the food is good. If you work or live nearby you owe it to yourself to check it out. read more

100% recommend! I've been spending a lot of time at the hospital with a sick family member and couldn't bear to eat another meal at the hospital cafeteria. After the meal I just had from Prestige, I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from eating there at all. I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese and curly fries.... it was all phenomenal. The people were extremely friendly, kind, and efficient; the place was very clean; and they had the best snacks! I barely finished checking out all of the snacks before my burger was already done. If you are fortunate to work, live or have an appointment at or near Columbia Presbyterian, I have grest news, check out the Prestige Cafe and Deli. It is located on Fort Washington Avenue and 169th Street and you'll never have to worry about where you can get an exceptional meal! I've become a very loyal and satisfied customer because Prestige, which is open 24 hours a day, makes phenomenal breakfasts, delicious lunches and treats all of their customers as if we are their special guests!! This is pretty extraordinary , given that there is often a line of hungry folks waiting impatiently for their take out meals. The owner, BJ, is often either cooking or welcoming customers into his establishment and he's a real mench. Earlier this week, while on line to pay for my delicious panini, he refused to let one of the customers pay for his lunch. I watched this interaction with astonishment. Apparently, another customer had inadvertently taken this guy's sandwich and he had to wait a few extra minutes while the staff prepared his lunch order( again). The gentleman wanted to pay, pointing out that it wasn't the fault of the establishment but BJ felt that his customers deserved better service and insisted on giving him a free lunch! iHere's the deal, if you want a delicious meal and you don't have time to spend in a fancy restaurant, check out their amazing menu. If you go to their website, you can order on line and get your order delivered. While everything from their French Toast, burgers and paninis are delicious, I can't recall being so impressed with the owner of a 24 hour deli, who treats his customers like they are his guests! They also have tables so you can sit down and relax. As someone who often doesn't have time to walk up to Broadway or have a relaxing breakfast or lunch, it's great to know that I can grab a delicious and healthy meal and be back at work within 15 minutes! I really love this deli. My saving grace on school or work days! Open 24/7, with tons of options that even includes cheesecake. Reasonable NY prices, and the owner is really nice. CUMC students get 10% off, but you have to remind them/ask for it! Get to know the workers, and they will go the extra mile for you. :) I never go by the menu, but they can pretty much make whatever you want as long as they have the ingredients. The only thing I'd advise against is the coffee. Just cross the street because the cafe inside Hammer Building brews Stumptown! I always pass by this cafe on my way to work but have never gone inside to order anything. Today made a stop into the cafe and I feel like I've been missing out! Prestige has so many options--healthy, vegetarian, and vegan ones! I was surprised by the variety of food in the cafe. I ordered a bacon and egg on a bagel and loved it! The prices here are great, especially for students. The bagel place two blocks from Prestige charged me a lot more for a bacon-egg so I'd recommend coming here for not only for (quickly made) delicious food but also the friendly staff. Prestige Cafe is uptown from my school and from my apartment, but I have a classmate who lives near here and we stopped in during an afternoon of studying to bring back to heat up for lunch.  They offer your average cafe deli fair and several selections of prepared foods and pre-made sandwiches.  Many salads selection as well.  We grabbed a couple of sandwiches and sides to take back to his apartment.  The service was friendly and the food was fresh. New and spotless with a ton of variety on the menu. Paninis, wraps and a broad selection of breads makes for tasty sandwiches and meals. The hot/cold tables are up and running with a wide variety of choices. Junk food selections are extensive. So if you looking for Doritos or Bombay curry kale chips, they got you covered. They have an ATM which seems to be finally online full time. The place seems to have settled in nicely into the hood. The place is still well maintained and clean. Still miss the old Shangrala that was here before. Hopefully it will grow to be as good. Next door is a Subway restaurant and it had no surprises. read more

I have been working as an intern in NYSPI near to this cafe and it has honestly been the most convenient place to get lunch. The walk from my hospital is just about a minute just to walk up a block and I try to make it before the big lunch rush because it can get pretty crowded! But that's how good fast paced and great this place really is. I absolutely love their MYO salad and especially paninis!! Let's be hoenst: I miss the old Shangri-La, with Susan working hard behind the counter, its odd run-down charm, and their Chicken Salad BLT specials. The fact that half of it is now a Subway makes me legit cringe. (A nice small business, decades old, taken over by Subway. Ugh.) However, Prestige Deli, while a change, ain't half bad. They have a very extensive breakfast, sandwich, and salad menu. Salads are made fresh to order, though...ehhh. I'd rather get my salad at Jou Jou or Strokos if I had to pick. The sandwiches, however, have been pretty good! I've become a fan of the California Wrap, which consists of grilled chicken, mozzarella, lettuce, avocado, and ranch dressing. Served grilled, it's a hearty little lunch for just $5.99! It beats Tasty Deli's prices by a long shot with a much more reasonable portion of food. In addition to menu items, they have coolers stocked full of cold drinks and snacks. A now-empty buffet table looks to be opening soon...we shall see! It's no Shangri-La by a long shot, but with sandwiches in in the $6 - $7 range that are good, Prestige is a nice option for those days when I can't stand the Milstein cafeteria or stand that walk to Broadway. Prestige deli is my favorite place for salads in the Columbia-NYP area. It's $6.50 for a salad with 5 toppings, which is much lower than Strokos or JouJou's. The salad bar is also open 24/7, which isn't true for any other nearby places. The staff are friendly and polite. The one caveat is that the selection isn't as good as JouJou's or Strokos. For protein, your options are usually chicken, eggs, and beans. The staff have always been pretty generous with their protein portions, though. I really hope this place sticks around! read more

They've recently added more side options to their menu like mozzarella sticks and french fries. I've been getting sick of the usual subway and chipotle I've been having for lunch, so I decided to try this deli and I'll definitely be coming back frequently! First of all, it is a lot cheaper than tasty deli across the street and tastes just as good! They have a huge menu of different wraps, paninis, and more. If you order a panini, it comes with a drink and bag of chips and is around $6.50! Also, you can't go wrong with any sandwich with their chicken cutlet! They also have a salad bar and buffet. The chef is super nice and we chatted a bit about the neighborhood, etc (since I told him I had just moved). I know that these guys just opened but they need to get their act together. I got the same omelette every time and the price was different each time. He charges me a dollar more than what I got charged last time and when I point that out, he points to the take out menu and says rudely, "you see this? It says prices may change at any time without notice." Well, you know what? Customers may change at any time and not go to your sorry establishment without notice. You're new to the block, act like it and treat customers with respect. The food: omelettes are OK, nothing great. Went there for lunch once and got a panini...and never again. It was supposed to have grilled chicken with grilled onions and peppers and all I got were tiny bits of onions and peppers were nonexistent. Those around CUMC know this is where Shangri-La was. Food is overall pretty good, but I just have a huge problem with the people running the place and I know many people have experienced this. First, the prices charged are never accurate compared to what it says on the board. Second, on the board, it says many of the sandwich items come with "Chips & Pickle." I have done this several times now and each time, it appears that they will not give you this unless you ask and tell them that's what it says. Even after reminding them, there have been multiple instances where they did not have chips/pickles that day OR told me they didn't but then somebody else got them right after me OR like today, told me that they didn't mean for that to be the deal and that they "are meaning to remove that from the board." I don't care how good the food is, they are misleading their customers, charging ambiguous prices, and not cooperating when called out for being cheap and ignoring their customers' complaints. read more
