The process, seeing her select one from like 20 options, and once she did, they have a nice saying where you bless it before they open it. When they opened the first oyster it had TWO light pink pearls in it! Wow so of course we needed to buy settings for it to be twinsies! She picked a necklace pendant and a chain, great! So Lydia, our sales lady says " I'll give you another oyster to open up for free". Of course we jumped at the offer and once again she picked another oyster thru her process of elimination! The 2nd oyster opened up and had one larger pink pearl so we had 3 pink pearls. We ended up getting a pretty plumeria pendant too! Overall, we had a fun time and left with souvenirs so when we get back home and wear them, we will think of our Kaua'i trip!

The lady who works there (I'm sure the owner) says "you lost 2 necklaces here 2 months ago? Hold on a second...." PULLS OUT 2 BOXES. In my head I'm like "no, no, this is not real, you're mistaken, this is someone else's box." But NO! IT WAS OUR 2 NECKLACES! Someone from downstairs found them & brought them back up to the store. They kept them for 2 months! Even though he paid cash. Most people would have taken the $100 & resold them. Free money. But this owner did not. We've passed by this shop over a few dozen times over the years & decided to give it a go. The items are handmade from the Koa tree that is found in Hawaii. There are pens, jewelry, bags/purses, wallets, key chains, cutlery, ornaments, vases, kitchen items & other curious artwork displayed for sale. Candace was manning the shop & she was so friendly & welcoming. She even suggested a lady who might be able to create what we're looking for. This lady works from home & has a website (Tropical Isle Music). I love to support local businesses & Candace was so charming, I bought a couple of Aloha Hula girl ornaments & a pineapple (see photo) ornament. There's a few spaces for parking that it shares with Mankoa & a granola shack. It was lovely speaking with Candace, who I learned is actually half Filipino & half Japanese, born & raised in Kaua'i. Her grandfather was one of the first Filipinos who arrived from the Philippines to work in the plantations in Hawaii. It's always interesting to learn about people & their heritage. I'm very pleased with the experience & my purchases at this shop
