This was by far my most favorite winery out of the 3 wineries we visited on the wine trolley. They have a beautiful lawn area with benches and picnic tables where you can have actual picnics With your wine. Tons of space for lots of people. The wine was great, the pricing was great. I wasn't able to walk the full grounds nor go inside so I can really speak on that. But if you are looking for a beautiful area to sit with your friends or family and enjoy some wine with a view of the vineyards. This place is it.

The descriptions I read about Preston Farm only scratch the surface, you have to experience this place. I felt like I walked onto the perfect movie set, exploring this truly unique environment. The owner removed large sections of grapevines and replaced them with an organic farm, best of both. Perfect setting for a picnic afterward. Super bonus: no reservation required to visit.

We were looking for a winery to visit to break up a trip from the Anderson Vally back to San Jose. A lot of the ones we had previously visited were closed on the Monday and Preston Farm and Winery came up in a search. Previous reviews mentioned the cats and I'm a sucker for winery cats and dogs. The woman running the tasting room was awesome and gave us such a great experience. We saw one of the cats (Ike) and I was pretty happy with that. But then the lovely grey tabby (Tuna) came for a visit and ended up cuddling between my wife and me on the loveseat for an hour. Wine tasting is always better with a cat. The wines were all so good and the tasting room manager gave us several additional pours of wines not on the menu. The pacing was perfect, leisurely and not rushed. It was a lot of fun, as we could compare the same wine from different years and some wine from uncommon grapes. We also got to try their olive oil, which was very nice. We ended up buying a case and a half, it was all so good. The day after the tasting I was reading an SF Chronicle article on the 25 top wineries in the Bay Area and Preston Family was on the list and rightly so. One of the best tasting experiences I've ever had.

This is a bonafide working farm and to me, it really just screams "Sonoma!" Our local friends wanted to stop by here to fill up their jug with the special house wine (apparently every Sunday) and to get some fresh bread. The wine is whatever the house has in their big vats and it costs around $35 to load up a big old jug of it. I see why it's such a hit! You follow a shaded dirt road for a few minutes down to a cute little farmhouse. Picture charming wicker furniture in various states of decay on the front porch and old screen doors to keep the flies out. Even an overall-clad old timer was sitting at what appeared to be the kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee. It was like stepping into a real life movie scene of farmland Americana. There's a very tiny little market with fresh fruit, vegetables and eggs direct from the farm. On the day of my visit, a small basket of strawberries cost $4.00, kale and chard was $3.00 per pound, and carrots were $2.00 a bunch. You pick out your goodies, weigh and pay, all on the honor system (bring cash). There's a small market with fresh baked bread and olive oil made on the premises (minus a star for the exorbitant prices -- $40 for a small bottle of olive oil? What's in the bottle, gold?). A wine bar with all organic wines offers a down home tasting experience. There are several picnic tables and a few farm cats who seemed to enjoy mingling with the picnic crowds. While not particularly scenic, it's a good place to check out if you want to get a true farm experience. The area reminded me of my grandma's backyard -- very homey and comfortable. Note that they have a sign that explicitly states that groups of 8 or more are not welcome, so leave your friends at home (or either split up and enter in separate groups).

Wine is okay, but a few items knock it back up the ranks: -Bread, EVOO & olives -Friendly knowledgeable staff -Cute cats -Casual & cozy atmosphere -Large clean bathroom facilities -FREE filtered water -Mini farmer's market on the porch -Pretty good jug table wine for $32, refillable $10 tasting fee, waived with purchase. My favorite was the Barbera.

This was a surprise for my girlfriend. We went out to this place and I've known about it because it's an organic farm and then create the most beautiful produce and wines out there. So it was a combination of two things. Actually 3 Walking the property tasting the wines and picking up fresh produce grown right on the property. The ground some sounds are very pretty in walnut trees nice little sales room for a day produce looks like part of an old farmhouse. The Tasting Room was much larger and the ones were delicious. I recommend going back into the barrel room and getting one of their big gallon jugs of wine. It's absolutely delicious and it was such a surprise to find one still sold by those old fashioned gallon jugs that had such an incredible flavor to them. Aside from the grounds being totally delicious with big bursting sunflowers and Fields of kale and fruit and olive trees abounding Persimmons trees loaded heavy and it's animal friendly. Walking around with a truly wonderful experience so we got an opportunity to explore. Check out the little nooks and crannies there are definitely things hidden in sweet little areas of gardens that you didn't expect to find. A wonderful little Hideaway out in the country. It would make for a good drive bring the picnic they have tables there. Have their wine out on the table with your picnic bring family. It's small and unpretentious. I recommend it to everyone.

Disclaimer: I am not a sommelier by any stretch of the word. I'd describe my palette as appreciative of fine wine but not above the occasional Bota box or bottle of two buck chuck. This place is a lovely little oasis in the midst of wine country. We picked up some cheese and Sourdough bread and enjoyed a picnic-style tasting on the grounds, with an extra-friendly (not annoyingly so) farm cat who we called Scout. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and friendly, and did not seem to judge the fact that neither my partner nor I were wearing boat shoes or dressed in wine-tasting attire. Side note: this is a thing. Google it. Anyway - we loved the chill vibe and the wine was delicious. Highly recommend bringing some cash for the farm store. Overall, five stars from us!

I don't normally drink wine but came for the olive oil and the experience and it did not disappoint! I also eventually changed my mind that red wine can be good:) We were seated indoors and Edd gave us the rundown of what we'd be tasting for the afternoon complete with stories and lots of fun facts. (I now look at any bottles that say "cold pressed" with some light skepticism since it's clearly only written there for marketing purposes!) We ordered a selection of the panini sandwiches, the burrata and butternut squash salad, and the charcuterie board. The fire cheese was delicious and the spread was perfect. Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))

Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Tilley, a rescued Aussie Cattle Dog. I LOVE that they list her as one of the team members on their website. There is a large tasting room, and an outdoor covered patio on a terrace overlooking the vineyard with amazing views. Once we chose where we wanted to sit, our host, Christy, gave us a complementary taste of rose'. The tasting fee is $20 per person, waived with a two-bottle purchase. The tasting menu is mostly reds, but started with a Viognier. We were then offered the chance to try any white that they had open. Such a relaxing and, really, a perfect wine tasting experience. Christy is friendly and knowledgeable. And then Jim Rickards (owner) came over and talked to us for a while. He is very personable, and had some wonderful stories.
