Such a fun winery with delicious wines and seasoned sommeliers! Came here during a wine tasting event and my friend and I had the most fun at Pendroncelli. Love, love, looove the casual vibes here! We hung out on their back patio and mingled with several other patrons. Their back patio is pretty spacious and low key. Nothing too fancy but the communal style setup made for a super fun social affair. Gina hosted our group and she was absolutely fabulous! She was like a book of knowledge and described every single wine that we tasted down to a tee. Her wine pairing suggestions were spot on too. I wasn't expecting the wines to be this good. Truth be told; I loved everything that I tasted and even walked out with a few bottles. The price points are ridiculously low for the kind of quality that you'll receive with these wines. And for this reason, I had to jump on it and purchase a few bottles while I had the opportunity to do so. Pedroncelli produces a diverse catalog of wines, but their reds are where they truly shine. The Sonoma Classico red blend stole me heart. It was my favorite out of all of the wines that we tasted that day. I also really enjoyed their Zinfandel and their yummy Port. Their wines are soft and easy drinking. Parable with just about any kind of food and drinkable during all seasons. I love this quality in wines, and Pedroncelli definitely has it. When in Geyserville, a stop at Pedroncelli should be high on your list to visit. read more

First time at Pedroncelli Winery. It was during Christmas Week. They were kind enough to accommodate our family party of 6. Cardale was our server. Was very knowledgeable about all the wines and its regions. First, we were able to pick up a couple of snacks from the winery. Chocolate, cheese, crackers, etc. Cardale placed us a very large room. It was warm, and had huge windows that gave us a view of their beautiful vineyards. The wine was delicious. The whites, crispy, and well balanced. The reds, Home Ranch Vineyard Sangiovese, East Side Vineyard Cabernet Franc, were bold, earthy and deliciousness, The Block 10, flavor, and aroma was delicious, but not forgetting the Merlot, with it's heartiness, flavor that needed a new home! Thanks to "Emily" for a wonderful tasting experience. Their wines are reasonably priced - actually could be considered "cheap" for our valley. Their tasting is only $5 and waived with any wine purchase - incredibly generous again for our valley. They just celebrated 90 years in business and they are a large producer of about 50-60K cases a year. We tried their 2016 Signature Chardonnay - we liked it alot - somewhat oaky but crisp. Also their 2016 Johnson Chardonnay - slightly more Oak. Their 2014 Mother Clone Zin didn't excite me. But we loved their 2012 Vintage Port - had to take some home! This is definately worth a strop when you are in the area! read more

This is a must-visit for me every time I'm in wine country. The price points are truly incredible and I really love the wines. Also big fan of being one of the few choose-your-own tastings I've found in the area; it really allows you to try a wide variety of wines on multiple visits. We joined the wine club this trip and are really excited to try the wines we brought back. Love their rose (I'm not a huge fan generally but theirs is great) but their zinfandels are where they really shine. Honestly everything is great, tasting room staff is consistently friendly and super knowledgeable. Probably my favorite winery in Sonoma. read more

Mad house- passport weekend. I really recommend that if you enjoy laid back tastings and talking to the staff, don't go on a passport weekend Having said that I was drawn here by hearsay that they had a port. I went in among the large crowd and stepped up to the counter. The gentleman said here's what we are pouring today....... I said I'm not really interested in any of those, I was told you make a nice port. He was a little flustered but did walk out into the store floor, retrieved a bottle of port and pour me a taste. Mmmm that brandy instilled warm caramel taste. That's all I needed. Walked over to the shelf and picked up three bottles. The gentleman came over to the register and I thanked him immensely for his trouble knowing how busy he was with the crowd. I would gladly return and try a few more of their wines and learn about the property, but it will have to be on a quiet day minus a few hundred other people. read more

I read about this vineyard in the New York Times article about Geyserville. Staying in Healdsburg I decided to check it out especially since I read about the Zinfandels they have. It turned out to be one of the most wonderful wine tasting experiences I have ever had. Cardale was in charge of the tasting that day and made sure that I tried, the Zinfandel's that I wanted to plus a couple of his other recommendations ending with the port. We had a wonderful visit as well, and I even got tips for traveling further down the coast with my dog. I loved walking around the vineyards and looking at the old growth vines. Great tasting and learning experience! Our guide, Lizzy, offered us their luscious zins and two surprises. Surprise #1 was their petite sirah. This is a grape that lots of winemakers blend in to their other reds, but winemaker Montsee Reese makes a 100% petite sirah. Wow! Dark purple in color, sure to tint your teeth, complex sweet dark cherry nose and long subtle cherry flavors. In my opinion, Reese belongs in the elite club of great women winemakers, along with Phyllis Zouzounis, Carol Shelton, Zelma Long, and others. Sorry, I'll stop ranting and mention surprise #2. Their vintage port is from Portuguese grapes which Raymond Burr planted in his famous Raymond Burr Vineyard. Sadly, we heard those grapes were all ripped out of that vineyard by new owners. The good news is: cuttings from those vines were saved and planted at Pedroncelli. Yes, they make delicious port. Reese knocks it out again! We were also a little surprised to see Jim Pedroncelli stop by for lunch and share a few thoughts. I'm a bit cheap, but I joined their wine club. This is the only wine club I've ever joined. They have some outdoor seating here so you can bring your own food and have a picnic and play some bocce while you're at it. Going indoors, the tasting room is big and spacious. They have a lot of different wines on the menu and you can customize your own tasting menu here, up to 5 wines. My favorites here were the sauvignon blanc and their port. I typically don't drink a port but the one here was rich and sweet and I can see it going very well with a chocolate torte. The prices for their wines here are very reasonable and lower than what I saw other wineries charging so if you're cash conscious, this is probably a good winery for you. read more

They say it is the terroir that defines the flavor. If this is true stay clear of this whole region, unless you love a musty dirt flavor. I understand that wine has tannins and can be dry. I like these types of wines. But even a wine high in tannins should have fruit in the first couple years. Once the tannins drop out of this wine it will be left with nothing else. The Zinfandel was neither peppery nor jammy. They are supposed to be in prime Zinfandel territory (Dry Creek) Skip this place. read more

The Pedroncelli tasting room seems to be filled with history. The same family is still running it and everyone has a role in the business. The wines are great. They make a lovely Rose, some well balanced cabs and a port that is delicious; just to name a few. Not sure how they do it, but the prices are extremely affordable. I didn't visit the winery although it is now one of my bookmarked places for our next visit to the area. My experience was at a local hotel where a rep from Pedroncelli, Elisabeth, hosted a complimentary tasting in the hotel lobby. My husband and I often go wine tasting when possible, and we both really enjoyed the wines Elisabeth had for our tasting, specifically the Zinfandel ("mother clone"). Also appreciated learning about the history of this family-owned winery. Elisabeth was very personable and genuine and appreciated chatting with her as well. We decided to visit the winery again the next morning because we enjoyed our tasting experience so much but unfortunately ran out of time. Definitely hope to make another visit to Geyserville again in the near future! read more

We stopped at Pedroncelli during a day of wine tasting, and it stood out for two reasons. 1) The tasting room host, a girl who looked about 20, was extremely accommodating to my plethora of questions. She was able to explain the difference between each of their wines and brands in great detail. 2) The wines are a steal. Priced from $8 to $25ish on the day we were there, we were ecstatic. I'm not enough of a guru to really tell the difference between a $30 and a $20, so really I end up just buying things I enjoy. Getting something I enjoy for $12 is a double win with sugar on top. They also had a wine for sale down to $8, that was great - a library Zin. I don't recall why it was on sale, but definitely ask if they have any sales going when you visit. This is a great stop for younger people, or people who have to stick to a tighter budget. read more

I'm completely flabbergasted by not only the bad reviews, but the LACK of reviews of this place. First of all, the "staff" -- most of which are actually the Pedroncelli family, ALL 3 generations of it -- are absolutely awesome. The second time we were there, they actually recognized us and knew us by name, even though we hadn't been there in 6 months! They are all involved in the whole winemaking process so they're extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We always spend the longest time there -- during the FREE wine tasting, where we can pretty much taste any of their wines for exactly $0 -- talking about the tiniest details and just enjoying it immensely. Great, great people, and if you've ever had a bad experience with them, you simply came in while they were busy with somebody else; you're not the Center of the Universe, come in outside peak times or wait your turn! As to the wines: wines are a very, very personal thing. I'm a HUGE fan of Dry Creek wines, and Pedroncelli, in my *personal* opinion, has one of the best, if not THE consistently best wine selection in the whole region. All of their wines are either good or great, and the prices are absolutely unbelievable for what you get. For me, the true "piece de resistance" is their Port; their 2004 still needs some bottle-aging, but the 2003 is right now one of the best vintage Ports (they were aged 3 years in cask, have been bottled for 3 years now) I've ever had in my entire life, and I've been a Port fan for decades... Another wine worth mentioning (for a different reason) is the friends.red. It's a blend, and a very inexpensive one, but has the particular distinction of being the only wine I've ever served people that ALWAYS gets a compliment. Everybody loves it, from the most avid wine lover to the person who really never had decent wine before. Very nice! read more

Opened and established in 1927, this winery has grown over the years. Located in the dry Creek valley, just outside of geyersville, this winery produces award winning wines year after year. The really neat thing about this winery and it's award winning wines, they are very affordable. You are not paying for a big name, or beautiful label. What you get is wine crafted the same way for years, from new vines to very old vines. The wine making is handed down to each new generation coming in, and the current wine maker is a Woman, and like I said before, this winery is seventy percent owned by women. This was our third stop today during the barrel weekend event. The folks here are very friendly, the wines are great too! My three favs at this place (today), are: -2010 future cab; tasted this out of the barrel. I also paired it with the soft chedder cheese and walnut baguette they were serving. mm mmm mmmm -Dessert port (4 grape blend). This was paired with chocolate. Come for the port and, most importantly, for the view; leave the wines untasted. These are the most beautiful grounds we found in the area - the vineyard curves around a hill, and in November the entire hillside is set ablaze by the reds and yellows of the turning vines. We did the tasting, which was uninspiring, minus a pretty good port. On ths plus side, they gave each of us a glass of the port to wander the grounds with. We spent an hour walking around the vineyards, and it was without a doubt the prettiest part of our whole trip. read more

I was driving through on Hwy 128, turned off a road, and found myself at J. Pedroncelli Vineyards on a whim. I am fairly new to the whole wine tasting thing, and seeing that it was only 10:30 am (opening time) was a little apprehensive to go in. But I was on vacation in wine country, so I said what the heck! I stopped in and the host, Jon was just wonderful. I had a great time doing side by side tastings, which was really fun to try the same type of wine, and get two totally different tastes. I learned a lot from Jon, and he really made the experience a good one for me, and now I feel a little more confident moving onto the next place! I felt their wines were very reasonably priced, and this was confirmed as I toured a few more in the area. I ended up buying three bottles for nearly the same price as one at another vineyard. We chose to go here because of all the good reviews and promise of reasonably priced wine which after a few of the places we visited this day my budget was in dire need of. I really liked their whites, I bought a bottle of the sauv blanc and I opened it the other night and was wishing I had bought more, I remember also really liking their chard and wishing I would have bought that as well, may have to do some online ordering. The port was awesome but as for their reds I just wasn't feeling them. They weren't horrible or poorly made, just something in the flavor profile wasn't my style, which after tasting at a couple more wineries in the Dry Creek area the next day I'm finding this may just not be my area for reds. Classic winery and vineyards with some of the friendliest and happiest tasting room guest host's! Driving on Canyon Rd from Alexander Valley to Dry Creek Valley sits Pedroncelli. The tasting room is surrounded by hills of vineyards. There is a really cool bocce ball court and trellis covered patio area out back of the tasting room. All good but the vino is why you should go! Several mid to upper 90point rated wines and incredible price points for purchase! I love their award winning Ports! Spectacular! A really nice surprise and again the price point is the rose'! Look for Juliette and Shirley as they will keep smilin and fill you with wine knowledge! This is one of the original wine families who still own and operate their vineyards and winery! Fantastic! This family owned winery was the first one on our trip. There is never a tasting fee and they suggest you taste 4 or 5 wines. The young lady who was behind the counter was extremely friendly. We went in the back and took pixs of all the barrels of wine. The outside was nice and had a picnic area. We tasted the Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay, the Dry Rose Zinfandel. They had lots of red wines but I don't really care for red and did not try them. The bottles we tasted sold for 10-14 dollars. We liked all the wines but bought the Sauvignon Blanc. We drank it that night with our dinner. We would have bought more but we were leaving for home and our state will not let you ship wines. The law has changed but apparently we were told the distributor has to pay a fee and I am not sure how many small CA wineries will bother about paying it. We enjoy our visit there and would go back again. read more
