This was my first time coming here & the nail tech did a good job. I came back the next day because I lost a stone one my nail & I wanted to get it replaced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I made it to the salon at 6:30pm but they were closed, the hours on the door says they're open until 7pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't understand why they're closed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been here a couple times for my pedicures since I get my finger nails done at a personal nail tech, and this is the only place I will go to in the area, I always feel comfortable and the prices are great compared to some other places.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I spent $52 not including my $20 tip I left whereas my pedicure at First Lady I paid about 70 something dollars because they charge pedicures and nail polish separately and also add on a fee for paying with credit or debit so after my tip it was about $90 (price does not conflict with my tipping amount it's all about service to me). DO NOT COME HERE. Omg this place has got to violate a plethora of health department regulations. My friend and I came to get a fresh gel pedicure and saw several things that scared us and really made us think we would end up with fungus. For starters, everyone here has either an attitude or a very difficult language barrier. Both make communicating difficult, especially because I had to request and debate my way into getting fresh pumice stones for our pedicures. The pumice stones that are in the caddy's are extremely dingy and worn out. In addition to the used stones, none of the pedicure bowls have a barrier or liner. That means intense decontamination/ high level disinfection should be performed prior to or after every client. That practice should also follow all metal tools that touch the nail or skin areas. Unfortunately, I didn't see that process. The bowls seem to be cleaned after usage and filled once an appointment comes. The metal tools that were used are kept in a pencil box looking thing that is covered in what looks like acrylic dust. I also had to request a nail tech to change her gloves after acting as a cashier between the pedicure service. She said "not yet, I'm not done." Loss for words. In addition to the barrier issue in the bowl, THERE WAS A DOG in the back room of the nail salon. The dog got loose and they put it in an unoccupied pedicure bowl. Photos and videos of this are attached to the review. Overall it was awkward and a poor experience. We only stayed because we were desperate and already here. It seems hard to find a good pedicure these days I tried Pretty Nails today in the Churchill Downs Kroger strip mall. They were clean and responsive. They did a good job and made sure my toes were cured before I put on my shoes. I paid extra for parrifin wax, which I reminded the woman about. Instead of a hot wax treatment (as I expected), she used a parrifin lotion that was not worth the extra $10. My fault for assuming all parrifin is hot. read more

Do not go here! This place is half a mile from my house. I had been there for the first time a long while back. I was getting gel taken off and regular nail polish put on. They clearly treated my like they did not want to help me since I wasn't getting a full set or spending a bunch of money. And they did a sloppy job which I had to fix when I got home. They are also way over priced at that. The up-sell the lady was pushing for was ridiculous. I had to tell her multiple times what I wanted. So this evening I wanted to go in again for sheer convenience sake and get gel removed again since I had been picking at it. When the super pretentious owner asked what I was getting done, she smugly looked away from me and said in a tone that sounded a lot like "who wants to take this cheap customer?" THEN two girls started arguing saying "No" repeatedly. To which I spoke up and said "Is there a problem?! Because I can go somewhere else. I already cross the bridge to get my nails done and you guys were rude to me last time too." I was only there for convenience. The girl tried to apologize and say we were just trying to figure out whose turn it was. Girl please! (eye roll) and then she proceeded to tell me how gel will make my nails strong. I'm thinking, are you serious?? NO woman! get it through your thick skull. I would not put anymore money into this place than necessary. Then she started giving me a manicure. Which I DID NOT ask for! But I let her do it and then said, you know what, I don't want nail polish. My total was $22. I said, and what is that for? She told me the cost of each thing and I told her, You realize that I did not ask for a manicure right? Then she says, but I trimmed lots of your cuticles. WOMAN are you for real right now?!?! I have went here for over 10 years . I've recently just restarted going back because my prom nails,graduation nails, and birthday nails were an absolute wreck. I got gel nail polish applied and was cut 3 times . I haven't been there for 3 weeks so my fingers would have tome to heal. My mother and I specifically told them that I have been getting cut very deep and would like someone who would be gentle or at least not cut me so bad. He immediately started to hit my skin with the dremel. When applying the nails he applied so much glue that my skin and fake nail are stuck together(I rubbed nail polish remover to take a little bit of the glue off and bleed so I'm not touching my nails till my fingers are healed ONCE AGAIN!) while shaping my uneven nails he sanded on my finger for a good minute and after I told him 3 times he was doing so he says "oh no I'm so sorry you have baby skin" ALSO TOU KNOW ITS 5 dollars to shape a nail!?!? I have been to numerous salons and haven't had the experience that I get with Pretty Nails at 2nd st location. I always get a prompt greeting asking how they can help me. I've been coming here for 2-yrs now and I'm very pleased. I would recommend this salon to anyone I know or meet. I was asked what I wanted to have done. Once we talked and she suggested something and explained it to me I've have been so pleased. I just love them to death. Over time we both have gotten to know each other better and I feel just like family. I won't go anywhere else. What's important is I learned that you can make appointments so you don't have to wait. You can walk in or make an appointment, personally I make an appointment to fit my schedule. It's so much better. They are very clean, have new pedicure chairs that give an awesome massage, new wall paint and coverings, paintings, new types of polishes even a childs pedicure chair that's pink with butterfly wings on it. I've never had such horrible service in my entire life before. The women barely greeted me and was rude when I asked the about the difference between gel and overlay. While making small talk with the technician he proceeds to say he HATES doing nails and wants to stop immediately. After spending 30 minutes wearing down my natural nails, he applied acrylics and cut my nails with CRAFT SCISSORS. They looked like the kind you get at Walmart. And instead of cutting the whole way, he'd cut part of the nail and rip the rest off. He applies acrylics and start to shape them. I explained I wanted a soft square shape and he proceeds to ignore me. When I tell him I want a soft square shape again, he joked around saying that he'd dealt with customers "like me" before. After doing three nails, he gets up and LEAVES saying "I can't do your nails with the way you are." Another technician takes off my nails while barely saying a word to me and I leave. Horrible service. I asked the woman doing my pedi 4x to please put my sandals on before she polished she said okay and totally disregarded what i said. She continued to painting my toes without using the toesl seperater which then caused the polish to get messed up and all over my individual toes. My nails look good, super sharp to the touch though. I always get stiletto shaped at my regular salon but I had to relocate for school so I went here, never had them this crazily pointed and sharp. Not really complaining but I could totally take some ones eye out. And the guy that did mine also did my moms, while he was doing a gel polish for her more customers walked in and he proceeded to yell at them to "pick a polish and sit down" even though there was 4 of them and only 2 places to sit because his daughter was laying on the big couch they have. I have been going to this place since I was in college (2005) and it is so sad to see it go down like it has. I went there today and decided to try dip and it was absolutely horrible. She did not even shape my nails at all. I've had some not so good experiences with them in my past, but I have never said anything until today! I was ashamed to even walk out with my hands looking like that. They were a lumpy mess. When I asked her to shape them a bit because if I'm paying $45 I want them to look decent enough to wear she became aggravated. She knows exactly what I like done with my manicures and pedicures and acrylic nails without me having to tell her repeatedly.
