A wax is $34 which I do feel is steep, but these ladies know what they are doing! I saw Olivia today and my brows look amazing. I had a noon appointment that I scheduled online. I got there 8 minutes early and was told that my nail tech was finishing up with someone else. I was greeted by the front desk girl with a warm welcome, a hot neck bag, and a La croix lemoncello sparking water. I was able to pick out my gel nail color from the large selection. I waited 10 minutes past my appointment time before my nail tech arrived at my station to greet me. Let me talk about how this was my first appointment here. I had scheduled my appointment online for a gel mani with add on 1 gel nail art and booked with gel removal. Upon booking online, I was called on the phone by the staff and asked that I have my gel removed before coming to my appointment even thought I had "booked" a gel removal. They said they could not remove gel from other places and that it was their policy - probably the weirdest policy I have ever heard of from a salon claiming they are a "nail" salon. Especially since it was just gel I had on and not something crazy like acrylics which I understand not everyone will remove. They lost a star for this. When going to get my nails done and paying for the service I don't want to have to remove my own gel polish- that's why I pay someone else to do it lol. So I would love if they could update this policy. My nail tech Amy was very nice. But she was a little rough with the cuticle removal. End product was very clean and she did a great job on the gel application. read more

For a beauty novice who is easily intimidated by anything self-care, beauty or aesthetic- Dollface is/was such a great foray into the world of professional brow shaping/tinting and grooming. I am pretty blessed with decent, natural brows. I had gotten pretty sufficient with my at-home brow maintenance routine. I decided to treat myself and get my brows shaped and tinted for the first time a few months ago. My first experience at the shop was amazing! The staff is so friendly and so stylish. Even though I felt a bit like a fish out of water, Jess took so much time talking me through my current habits as well as the outcome I wanted. The service as great, the La Croix was crisp, and the playlist was *chef's kiss*. I was given detailed aftercare instructions and techniques to recreate my results at home. When the skin around my brows started to get bumpy and irritated, I thought nothing of it. A rash then bloomed around my face and brows in the following days before turning into a full scale allergic reaction. Now, I'm sure most people are asking themselves "umm 5 stars for a skin reaction?" Jess and the amazing staff worked closely with me to identify what might have caused my skin to react so crazily. I later came back to the shop for patch testing of product and wax. We later realized that I have an allergy to the wax. Jess is so accommodating and is always sure to patch test ANY new product she puts on my skin as well as tailor her service to my allergy (i.e., we tweeze NOT wax). For this reason (and so many more), if I could give more stars, I absolutely would. Even with the literally bumpy start, I will not trust my brows with any other business. Now every month I get to walk out of the shop feeling so beautiful and truly taken care. While I'm still a novice, I at least look the part of an expert. I can't even start to explain how wonderful Dollface is! First of all, it is a small business and owned by women! YAY, get it, girls! My daughter who lives in Louisville had her brows done here, I couldn't stop complimenting her on how gorgeous they were so she suggested that I should do it too. Mind you, I was a brow wax virgin but thought "Why not?" Since my daughter had her brows done with Jess, I made my appointment with her. I came in a couple of minutes early, so I was seated at one of the stations with a deliciously warm neck wrap. Considering the temps were very cold that day it was like heaven to feel that warm neck hug. Plus, I was offered water or fizzy water as well. Jess was so incredibly sweet and walked me through everything, what she was going to do and why. Since I knew her work already I trusted her 100%. She tinted, waxed, plucked, and VOILA! She miraculously took my Bert Muppet straight brows and made them beautiful and arched. So much so, that it opened my eyes up, giving them a polished and elegant look. I can actually get away with not wearing makeup if I don't really want to! Afterward, she showed me how to pencil them in, how to apply brow gel and highlight them. I visited doll face on a very busy Saturday with my daughter. It was extremely busy, but still a clean and adorable environment. I appreciate the professionalism of the staff, and the overall quality of their service in the shop was top-tier. Considering my gel manicure only last me, barely a week, and I am not hard on my hands, I was incredibly disappointed with the quality of the actual nail work, and I believe it is significantly overpriced there. Maybe I was paying for the overall service and ambience, which to be honest I have no problem investing in a great experience. My nail tech, She was a great conversationalist and very sweet, as was the nail tech for my daughter. For a shop that does not offer pedicures, I left wondering if I am paying to make up for the fact that the service is not offered. This may seem like a mixed review, but overall, I did enjoy the experience and if a person does not mind the fact that even a gel manicure may not last beyond a week or week and a half. Had a manicure and brow tweeze 6 days ago. It was just a nice treat. I needed a good manicure to clean up my cuticles and shape my nails. I love color on my nails but I typically polish them myself and they last for 24 to 48 hours before they start chipping. Melissa did my classic manicure and said they should last at least 4 days, but I was skeptical. 6 days later they still look great and I have been very active in those 6 days. She was so sweet and welcoming and gave me a great manicure in addition to the lasting color. The shoppe is in the heart of Nulu with street parking. It is cute clean and a friendly staff. The brow tweeze was new to me and very informative. She walked me through every step of trimming, tweezing, shaping and the art of adding color to fill in the brow.. again it was a great experience but a bit pricey. read more

No. I'm not new to this. But what the hell. Waited 6 weeks to get this appointment. Be very very very very sure you understand what you're booking. I can't describe the crap day I had and hoping to get treated great at a nice boutique salon and met with all kinds of we don't do that. And horrible loud Christmas music. They don't take off old nails, I didn't know that. I literally called 3 times before my appointment to confirm the time and date because I had it in my calendar wrong and got a text with a whole other time then I had written down. Not once did I get told or reminded of their ridonkulous approach to nails. I wanted to try the Apres system for nails that my sister suggested from another salon in Miami. I looked online at the Apres site and found Dollface as the only place in Louisville providing their product. I was excited to try them Out. My excitement was dashed when I was told we dont remove old gel/ dip nails. I asked well what am I supposed to do and they literally shrugged at me. What the actual f!!??? So naturally I was pissed. Again bad day and hoping to be pampered with a really expensive nail service to be shrugged at. I asked what the f@&$ am I supposed to do then? I can't get my nails done here then? (To the tattoed face lady's credit she stayed calm explaining that they don't have the tools or ability to take off anything but Apres.) Lady asked me to not cuss at her and then I asked the same question and told them that this is ridiculous and I am leaving. They were more than happy to hand me my coat as I left in a flurry of "If I stay I will be more mad!" So I walked into the rain not having put my coat on before leaving mad enough that it didn't matter I was now wet and that I paid for parking at a meter for 1.5 hrs to leave less than 10 Mins later. I will never be back. I don't care if they do an amazing wax job according to other reviews. Thats not what I came there for. I don't wax me. It's painful to me and I always get burned, literally. They are a bad example to the Apres nail system and should just stick to waxing. read more

I have been looking for a place to get my eyelashes tinted and lifted for quite some time. This is the first place I've found in SW Kentucky that was confident in the process and could really explain exactly what was happening and how it all worked. The before & after pictures on their Instagram page looked legit- varying degrees of lift/tint- they didn't all look identical. They answered all of my questions and really made me feel comfortable about the whole thing. I scheduled an appointment online which really was the easiest process. I wish I could schedule all of my appointments like this. When I showed up there really wasn't much of a wait. I was seated almost immediately and offered a cool drink and a warm neck wrap. It was a little weird to have to sit with my eyes closed for so long. It's kind of like going to the dentist and having to keep your mouth open. She gave me a heavenly little arm massage while we waited for my lashes to set. It was wonderful. It has actually been 5 weeks since my appointment, and my lashes, while slowly growing out, still look great. I'm still getting compliments. I was told that they should last about 8 weeks, and I think we're right on track. The service was most excellent. Each and every one of the ladies here are absolutely fabulous. Dollface is an adorable nail and waxing salon tucked on Shelby Street in NuLu. I was drawn in immediately by all the Dolly Parton decor, but I got great service there as well. I can only speak to their nail services, but I got a fantastic manicure and will go back when I want to treat myself to some fancy nail art. They have a monthly manicure menu with cute nail art options that changes every month, which makes picking a color and design easy. It's a little more expensive than your typical nail salon but the quality and service is great and it's not surprising that it's a little pricier because of the area it's in. My brows were in dire need of maintenance, so I decided to give Dollface a try after reading their great reviews and passing their adorbs studio in NuLu. I easily booked an appointment using their website. Big points for allowing booking online -- a definite perk. And then at the time of my appointment, I found the studio to be inviting, bright and clean. I opted for just a brow wax. And while my appointment only took maybe 15 minutes, I felt like I got a well-rounded experience and the full attention of the stylist. The stylist waxed and shaped by brows, talked to me about brow maintenance and shaped and filled them in with brow powder and highlighter. Plus she gave me some wipes to reduce redness after I leave. I don't get my brows done as much as I should -- perhaps Dollface will be the motivation I need. I'd also like to try out their other services, including tinting, lashes and even mani and pedis. read more

Growing up a bushy-browed girl in India has given me a lifetime experience of having my eyebrows painfully threaded, tweezed, waxed off, and generally mistreated and misshaped. As a result of which, I have been extremely wary of trying anyone or anything new- I had pretty much convinced myself that unkempt brows were my style statement, when I came across this little gem on Yelp. I reached out to Jess through here, just to discuss my apprehensions. She went out of her way to reassure me, and convinced me to try waxing. And that my friends, was the beginning of a beautiful brow-story. Over the past few months, she helped me regrow brow-hairs that I had lost hope of ever seeing again. Her tips on the upkeep have been invaluable. The first few times, she also gave me hydrocortisone cream just in case I had a reaction, but honestly, I never needed to use it. I made an appointment Michaela for an eyebrow wax/tint and a lash lift/tint for my super blonde lashes and brows. I am so glad that I stumbled across this place on Yelp. This is the cutest salon ever! It is styled very retro and I couldn't get over it. The color scheme to the appliances to the pictures in the wall are very retro and classy. The ladies there were super nice and were sure to greet everyone as they came in. Jessica and Amy were very attentive to the appointment times and making sure you didn't have a wait. My favorite thing was that I was able to schedule online and I didn't have to call. I was able to schedule the day of. They text me and asked me to come a little later if I could, but if not they would still see me at that time. I really appreciated that. Amy did a wonderful job at caring for my toenails and fingernails. She recommended care and she filled me in on her nail art as well. I really liked that she used a metal bowl for the pedicure with an attachment for your feet to rest on. She explained that it's much cleaner than the jets. I feel like a have a home spot to get my nails done now. I usually just hop shops to whichever is convenient that day. There is waxing available also.
