If you enjoy a good quality hot dog, you'll find it super hard to not stop by this roadside food truck while in South Lake Tahoe. They serve up some gosh darn delicious quality hot dogs. They have a variety of dogs... all beef, Italian sausage, spicy hot link, elk, bison, boar, and beyond brat (vegan). Look for the food truck in the parking lot with a Shell gas station on Highway 50. The dogs are served up plain or you can get them specialized as in a Chicago dog, Sonoran dog, chili cheese, etc. The dogs range $7.50-$15. Plus they got fries$5-13. Those too are served plain or specialized. My faves are the chili fries, Chicago dog, and New York style dog. The chili is no beans and the fries are double fried giving them an extra crispy layer of crust. I do have to tell them light on the onions and mustard because they give you a full bang for your buck and load it up. But Hubs likes it that way. I like to wash it all down with their homemade lemonade. It's the real deal, made with lemons, sugar, and water. The $6 lemonade is served up in a whomping 32 ounce container. I tried this food truck while in town, it was a convenient place to get something vegan. They carry beyond sausage hot dogs. I can't remember the specific hotdog I got, but it had onions and peppers on top with mustard. It was pretty good. They're a bit pricey, but everything is pricy these days. There's no way I could pass up a place referencing roadside weiners. Being that it's parked next to a Shell, you can with one hundred percent certainty call this a "gas station glizzy". We have driven by this food truck for months, picking up and returning our grandkids to Placerville before ever stopping. Two weeks ago we finally stopped. The first thing that struck me was the price. Ouch! $43 for lunch: a chili cheese dog, a Chicago dog, 1 full-size order of french fries, and 2 lemonades. The full-size fries were way too much for the 2 of us. The lemonades are 32 oz and the sugar is added to the cup and shaken, not stirred. :) My lemonade was fine but my husband's was overly sweet with at least 1/4 of an inch of sugar at the bottom of the cup. The hot dogs/buns were of quality but unfortunately lukewarm at best. One thing I noticed after ordering, for $5-6 you can make your sandwich a meal deal. Will save you $5 or so on one order.
