The mission of this coffee shop, rocks. The chai coffee was to die for, really unique and that's what I like about it. Especially with the cinnamon on top. My daughter got the Blondie, also very good. We absolutely loved the local products sold there. They have a personal connection with each one of their artists who sells items in their shop that was really cool. Christina was extremely friendly and welcoming.it's in an awesome location just outside of a very historic space. It's across the street from the building where the civil war started. I love that its become a driver and anchor for local and visitor foot traffic on Dexter Ave. It's a perfect place for locals to meet out-of-towners staying in hotels downtown, either socially (they serve alcohol) or for work purposes. Many, if not most, major historic attractions are a safe and insta-worthy walk away. Within a one mile radius you'll find the Equal Justice Initiative memorial and museum; the Rosa Parks memorial and bus station; Dexter Ave. Baptist Church where Martin Luther King, Jr. preached; the Hank Williams museum; the Montgomery riverfront, riverboat, and amphitheater; Alabama State Capitol, Statehouse, Archives and other state agency headquarters; the first White House of the Confederacy; the Montgomery Performing Arts Center; Old Alabama Town; the Alabama Judicial Building (with the Supreme and appellate courts); the US Courthouse; Davis Theatre; Troy University; and many restaurants, hotels and bars. We only moved here three months ago but one of the first things we noticed was that Montgomery desperately needed downtown spots and that there was a big lack of coffee other than Starbucks. This solves both problems. They have a heart for revitalizing downtown, they make a darn good pour over, and they are currently housed within the neatest southern maker showcase. My latte was delicious, but it took a while to get (10+ minutes) and the staff wasn't particularly friendly. My friend's HVR latte was very sweet and tasted mostly like raspberry, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. We would have liked our pastries heated, but that wasn't offered. This review is a bit late, but I made my first trip to Montgomery a few weeks ago to visit my husband and stumbled upon this spot in the downtown area. Wanted to try a locally made pastry but the pickings were slim with only brownies left as it was their delivery day, so the barista added on an extra brownie. I was in Montgomery this past weekend and the most disappointing part was that I didn't discover this charming place until Sunday! Happened in while on a walk and am so happy I did. The sweet person behind the counter recommended the HVR Latte which was homemade honey, vanilla and raspberry syrup. Let me tell you - it was amazing!! I was so bummed to think that I would never be back to get another and then remembered that we drive through Montgomery to get to Destin and I would happily make a detour to visit again because it was THAT good. By far the best coffee in Alabama. Fast service. Great atmosphere & very clean. All the baristas are so sweet and helpful. One of the greatest perks is the location. The outside seating is my favorite because you can sit on their porch swing and enjoy a nice latte and conversation with friends or catch up on some work too. I cannot recommend this place enough. If it weren't for Prevail, I would've never known that macadamia milk existed. I usually go for oat milk but one day the barista suggested I try macadamia milk and oh my goodness I am grateful that I did because I never knew that there was a nut milk that could be so creamy and delicious. Usually nut milks, especially almond, are so watery but that is definitely not the case with macadamia! Definitely comparable to oat milk. Very helpful and happy to have tasty non dairy milk options when you're lactose intolerant. So thank you Prevail Union! read more
