I'm honestly surprised this place has such good reviews. I will say the ambiance is nice, but the matcha was terrible. It was barely shaken and it was bitter compared to other matcha I've had. It's weird because I usually like when my matcha is bitter, but it just wasn't even mixed so I was sipping chunks of matcha through my straw. Next time I'll try the coffee and maybe I'll change my review, as it seems they are highly rated for coffee. read more

COFFEE. The barista named Marie Louise made me the BEST oat cap. Hannah was manager on duty and she was very kind. Great customer service. Perfect aesthetic, especially on a rainy day. And the pastries are delicious. I believe they are made local. You should definitely diss Starbucks and stop here on your way to your next destination. Such a cozy little coffee place! Not a lot of seating options but I'm guessing that's due to covid. I ordered an americano with a pump of hazelnut and splash of almond milk and let me tell you, this is the best Americano I've had in a while! I can't exactly tell you what makes their coffee so dang good but it just is! The richness, the flavor. Extra hot, perfect for the cold and rainy weather. Wish we weren't just passing through. Came in for a couple of coffees this morning. This is a cute little coffee shop just down the road from the Capitol Building, this place is hip, attractive, cozy, and comfortable. Offerings consist mostly of coffees and teas, but there are a couple of pastries available if that suits your fancy. Looks like they sell wine and beer here in the evening -- I'd guess live music happens from time to time, too! The interior is really beautifully decorated, with a very instagrammable wall to boot. I'm not really a coffee drinker, but my parents are, and they said their plain coffees were delicious. They had something they called a Chaider on special: masala chai with apple cider and cinnamon. I ordered that, and it was yummy. Just a touch to heavy on the cinnamon for me, but still really tasty and served at the perfect temperature. If you're in need of a coffee fix or a place to chill in downtown Montgomery, this seems like a great option. read more

This is located in a cute downtown area of Montgomery close to the Rosa Parks statue and a large fountain. You can taste ALL H, V, & R flavors equally along with the coffee! - Alabama Stinger ($4.50 for double): espresso sweetened with honey (... i think lol ask them for details!). All I can remember is that this HITS THE SPOT!! Strong coffee with a hint of sweetness (which can be adjusted). LOCATION/SPACE: - Hard to spot from afar since there is no big sign outside - In the dead center of downtown near the Court Square Fountain - Plenty of meter parking (although might be harder to find spots during peak times) - A rather long space with a lot of bar/table seats - A few tables & benches outside! - Bathroom is out the door TIPS: - Great place to get some work done & get them creative juices flowing! Tried: - Nitro Cold Brew - Cheese and Sausage Croissant - Plain Croissant In town for work and needed a really good coffee kick. Located a few blocks walk from the hotel and in a historic part of Montgomery. Prevail coffee is a refreshing space set in a modern decor. The nitro cold brew was smooth and refreshing. Probably one of the best cold brews I've tried. The acidic level is very low as well as the nitro adds a nice robust creaminess. My favorite was the sausage and cheese croissant. The croissant filled with a nice piece of slightly spicy sausage that was excellent. The cheddar cheese adds a nice texture and the croissant is topped with black pepper that gives it a really nice smoky flavor. I am going to be thinking about this pastry when I go back to LA. read more

I've been wanting to visit Prevail since they first opened, but I no longer live in the area and never made my way there. I visited for the first time today and was super impressed. Happy to finally have more solid coffee shops in the Montgomery area. I tried the spinach ricotta pastry and the chocolate croissant, and both were really yummy! I wish that there were better indoor seating options indoors with bigger tables. Also, it seems like masks aren't required. I've discovered that Montgomery is still pretty lax on masking policies, but it was still kinda strange. The outdoor seating was wonderful. Super spacious, nestled between what look like apartment units? Didn't even realize there were apartments here. Anyways, I enjoyed my visit and plan on returning. read more

I've been to Prevail a few times in the last couple months. It's the only coffee shop that seemed worth my time as a study spot. Their coffee is very good, fresh, with house made syrups. My favorite drink so far has been the Alabama stinger with macadamia nut milk. Super rich honey flavor, but only comes iced. My only downsides to the location is that it's definitely a meeting space for a lot of people and can get pretty loud. Can't complain much because I'm glad others don't have to study for hours on end, but something to keep in mind if you're used to a quiet space for studying. read more

This is what a coffee shop should feel like. A place you can feel comfortable hanging out with cool couches and tables and chairs to hang out and do some work or to write the next great novel. And yes the coffee is quality from step one. I had a pour over and it was just perfect. Smooth yet a full body.....this is what coffee is suppose to taste like. They also serve beer for your afternoon after a hard day at work hang out. I only wish they would come on over to Bham so I can frequent there all the time. At least I know now when I need to take that trip over to Montgomery there is place I can hang out for a little and have a great cup of Joe where I want to spend some time. Well done! read more

Nice place! Friendly lady helped us out. Went for coffee off the Yelp reviews. Three of us got an Americano, drip black and a latte. All very sweet with no sweetener. Was weird, and didn't go back the next day. Had a few sandwiches and a muffin. All ok. Tasted like they do everywhere around there. I guess they come from the same supplier. In the end very average compared to the reviews. Likely go back for coffee should I be in the vicinity. read more

For a place that tries to exude precision and clearly has attention and resources put into it, basic execution should follow. For an iced latte, you should be pouring an espresso shot for it, not stored coffee in a press behind the counter. Google it. Ask 10/10 people. Its how you are supposed to advertise it and do it. I came in on a Tuesday morning, barely missing the mid morning rush, the service I got was outstanding, I was greeted by friendly staff and quickly placed my order for an HVR Latte. Simply put, this might've been the smoothest, most well crafted coffee I've ever enjoyed. I sat for a bit in a window seat looking out onto Dexter Ave. The decorum is exactly my style, an almost unlikely combination of rustic and industrial, with some modern twists. Truly phenomenal experience, I've been living in Montgomery for about 3 months now, on an almost full time basis and was inquiring with some of my colleagues from work on where I could have a truly phenomenal coffee in an amazing location.
