There are very much needed, but there's certain things I cannot find like baby flavor which I don't use or eat very often but guess what? I never find it. I never know where to look lots of selections. Sometimes you're out of stock of certain items but guess what that's life you learn to deal with it But sometimes I think things are a bit overpriced and sometimes you don't know where the hell to look for it so I'm giving you a good review but guess what there's still things that need to be improved. The prices have gone up so bad here it's ridiculous it worth the drive to leave Marlborough to go to Hudson and buy at BJ's whole food because I went this week to get creamer at Price chopper it use to be $6.00 for the large bottle of creamer and now it's $10.00 I refuse to shop at this place and I hope they shut down ! People should not be supporting these places that are over charging us. I moved away from Massachusetts years ago and it was nice to be reminded of the attentive, competent, and efficient service that makes you feel like a valued local. Little things like acknowledging you, explaining options, checking on your preferred thinness, and careful stacking so you can pull your cheese and meats apart go a long way. I guess throwing off the store inventory and making a few extra dollars in profit is more important than allowing a customer to eat the food they paid for. The cashier who rung me up didn't give me all my bags, so when I went back to get the missing items I had already paid for- I was denied by a braindead lemming by the name of Gloria. Not only did she refuse to give me what I already paid for, but she then turned her back on me and walked away while I was speaking to her. Good work gaining an extra few bucks for the store at the cost of me not being able to eat. And by the way, most of your yogurt expired several months ago. read more

Here's the thing... maybe sometimes I fancy myself a cut above Building 19 or the Job Lot or Walmart... maybe I need to be in just the right mood to hit those places (or just tight enough in the wallet)... and I had to get myself in that mood to try grocery shopping at the Price Chopper. COME ON... the Price Chopper... the name reeks of low price low quality products in over lit isles... This place is nothing like what I thought. They are clean and organized and well laid out. They have a fantastic selection of organic and self-branded products for very reasonable prices. They have a discount card that not only helps you save more in the store but actually gives you money off on gas at a nearby station (seriously, I got $0.20/gal off 20 gallons). And... AND... ANNNNNNNNND... they are open 24 hours! Genius. 4 Solid Stars. read more

Twice this week I had to throw out meat purchased at Pricechopper. Stir-fry steak was full of fat and chewy like shoe leather. Disgusting taste also. Went into today for a few items, also got cold medicine. came to check out it asked for an id (have to be over 18) im close to 40 (37) i told the guy at self check out i did not have an id on me, he said no problem he would get an over ride, a very rude manager walked by, doesnt even acknowledge me, says i cant do over ride and keeps on walking by. ive never seen someone so rude in my life, let alone as a customer service manager. glasses, black hair, worked at 2pm on thursday. i will never return to this location. on a better note, called and spoke to a gentlemen (maybe named jesse?) was very nice over the phone. went to wal mart it was cheaper and when they over rode the id part. pc is a joke read more

Constantly finding food that is several weeks out of date and this isn't and over statement this happens all the time! Hummus thats 3 weeks past date and not just one package but several. bread that has mold on it, warm milk in the coolers ect... this place is a flaming pile of dog shit ! I can't count how many times I've been double charged for items or gotten home and realized that something is rotten or smells sour. With so few grocery store options on east route 20 in Marlborough, Price Chopper is the natural go to. They fare better in terms of variety than Target which is the only other option nearby. Their produce is pretty good, the bakery is great, and you can find some nice deals at the deli counter. I've never purchased seafood here and probably wouldn't based on my experiences with the meat department. I bought a meatloaf on one occasion and it wasn't edible. Not sure what exactly the problem was, but it tasted off even though I bought it the day I cooked it. It was like eating funky tasting sawdust. My husband bought steaks there and they were awful. Tasted like organ meat more than steak. The store is fairly clean and nothing fancy. Pretty typical in terms of health and beauty items. They even have a small but passable natural food section. The checkers are very friendly. No complaints at all there. However, the customer service counter is anything but friendly. My debit card was declined and I left the house without my cell phone. I had no other way to pay except that debit card. I knew something was wrong because my balance wasn't the issue. I felt bad having to ask to use their phone, but I was in a tough spot. I was told that it would be "inconvenient" for me to do so. I was stunned. The poor checker couldn't ring anybody else up and my groceries would just have to sit there not refrigerated while I drove to the bank or home. Finally, another customer service rep gave in and let me use the phone. Turns out my debit card was on the list of cards compromised in the Target hack and the bank had cancelled the card and sent a new one that I had yet to receive. However, they were able to authorize my purchase after speaking with me. Problem solved in less than 2 minutes of possibly being an inconvenience. I'm sure they get plenty of declined cards and hear all kinds of excuses, but this was not one of those instances. It really annoyed me. I'd rather drive out of my way than shop there now. read more

I can't believe I've lived here as long as I have and haven't reviewed this store. I do most of my shopping at Chopper. I agree that the clientele might leave something to be desired, but I usually go on week day mornings so it's just me and a bunch of sweet old people. I like this store for the fantastic and cheap produce, the great meat department and the large assortment of natural products and foods. NOT senior friendly. Self check out is very difficult to use, especially for fruit. Also, it's easy to leave things behind as you finish bagging and paying. Store is laid out in a way that is difficult for handicapped folks to get a "few things". dairy and bread are at the FAR corner of the store. Got home and my receipt did not reflect the sale prices and I used my Price Chopper card. Shaws in Hudson much easier to shop. read more

Update: promoting to 4 stars, from 3. For no reason in particular, just because it is a clean store that delivers well on what it offers - reasonably priced groceries. My only gripe is the "natural foods" selection used to be it's own section (like Stop 'n Shop's is laid out) but now it's placed in with the regular products. And I don't know if it's just seems that way because of the set up but seems like there is less of it offered now. This is my default, I just want to get the shopping done, grocery store. For higher-end items I go down to Sudbury Farms or Whole Foods. Product selection is good, but often times not the healthiest. They have a pretty good "natual foods" section. If you sign up for their shoppers club, AdvantEdge (get it?), you can save money on gas at the local Sunoco. It adds up if you shop there often - last time I fueled up I saved 80 cents per gallon. read more

I was at store hours ago and went to pay...the cashier had a helper to pack the goods. In the information on his clothes he said as customer service but he has nothing, there is nothing like customer service. He complained all the time !!! He packaged cleaning product along with milk and dairy products. The yogurts I bought were all almost damaged. I'm wondering how a store can hire an employee with this profile to work as a customer service . I do not recommend Marlborough Price shopper!!! read more

Expect to save LOTS of money with equal quality products found in higher end grocery stores. Appearance from outside is a little dirty, but the inside is bright and clean. Produce is fantastic too...especially for the price. A lot of variety in all products (grocery, bakery, deli, et al). As far as the staff: The produce staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. Bakery staff are hit or miss. The only real staff complaint I might have is the cashiers are not very fast nor very friendly (save one or two), but I don't think cashiers in many places are very friendly! Overall, any issues with the staff are worth saving the money! read more

Okay, so after reading the reviews of this place from others I tripled checked to see if we really were talking about the same Price Chopper, turns out we are, so that leaves me thinking, what the hell are these people on shopping here. Okay lets start with the good, and why it's 2 not 1 star. The power of the pirimter. The meat & fish dept are GREAT, exelant cuts, good quality, actually serve you. Plus you can get your lunch their and the way the store is set up these are the first 3 places you hit, plus the cheese counter, yum. Thus ends the good, ready for the bad. Now I know you can't pick your clientell, but every single customer acts like they're on supermarket sweep and that they only have 4 min's to pick up $8,000 worth of grocries. Weaving swearving, swearing, making wal-mart customers look like the natick collection, say it with me people "holeless t-shirts" But you can control the dirty grimey, filth that just covers the asiles. I know what it is, it's from the storage in the back, things get dusty out there but your stock boys should be cleaning up the products before bringing them out on the floor overnight, at least that what i did when I worked as one. What's the point of a self checkout if I still have to pay the cashier? And of the 8 that they have, I have never seen more than 5 working at 1 time.. Plus I go to the supermarket for grocries, discounts on gas are cute and all, but it's not a selling point, and if I loose my 'price chopper' card and you can't give me anotehr one, what really is the point of ever having one in the 1st place. As for the selection, like I said, those 3 highlighted areas are great, go through the asile and find 1 brand of rice vinigar, 1 brand of pasta 1 brand of oj, well not really but 1 brand of oj $1.30 cheeper than any other brand. I am begging this franchise to come a little bit closer to me! This is the closest one and it takes about an hour. Wegmans and Price Chopper are my absolute favorite grocery stores. This location was clean, large, and had a wonderful selection. I love finding neat items like duck bacon. And their bagel selection - well, om nom nom is all I can say to that! I first formed an under rated perception of the shop because of the name. However when I shopped for some grocery; I couldn;t believe the extensive collection of fruits & vegetables they had at rock bottom prices. They also have a fresh deli. You get lost to find any item; just ask for help. One of the most customer friendly staff. The freezer section carries almost everything from cheese to yogurt to milk to maybe 'name-it'. I will totally recommend Price Chopper if you want to save a few bucks without compromising on quality. read more

I started shopping here after moving to the area from outside the region and working very long hours. Most of the time they were the only store open when I needed to shop. We've found the produce, meat, and groceries to be comparable with other brand name stores, and usually always cheaper. (Some of the items may be cheaper still at a Wal-Mart or BJ's, and the selection of specialty, deli, and bakery items my be greater at a Whole Foods.) The staff, from stockers, to checkers, to managers and front of store personnel, is the most pleasant and helpful we've found at any of the local super markets, and that includes the more expensive stores in wealthier communities. A few other notes: - Crowded--Only around major holidays and sometimes before major sporting events. - Shopping at night--Since the store is open 24 hours, they do re-stock at night, which means that yes, there are boxes and carts in the aisles. We've found that the fellows doing the stocking have been very helpful. One night when I couldn't find the salad dressing I wanted, one of the stockers went into the back, and when he returned he said that a new shipment hadn't come in. About 15 minutes later he did find a case and tracked me down in the store to give me a bottle. - 24 hours, but not quite 365 days a year--One Thanksgiving day we rushed to the store and were surprised to find that they were closed. It's a law in Massachusetts that supermarkets have to close on Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Any other holidays?) A word of warning to those new to the state. read more

Not a fan. I went in to purchase a few items that were on sale and a few items I needed. Every single item rang up the WRONG price on the self-scanner. I had 5 different items (a total of 9 - yes, I went in for the Ben and Jerry's $1.88 a pint deal). This is the second time I've had this experience. While it is always corrected, I feel like the "chop" the prices on the ad but then it's up to the shopper to make sure the items not on sale ring correctly. I've had this happen before at other stores but not at the level of this store. I'll only go back for specific sale items. It's not worth the hassle - no matter how nice the people are: and it's more than deceptive. read more

I've had a few run ins with products going bad in a matter of days and other products already being bad right after purchasing from Price Chopper, but I'm not sure if they're to blame or not. Either way I enjoy this store for the fairly cheap priced items, and convenience. The staff seems to keep to themselves and isn't really friendly, the only greeting I get is when I'm done purchasing my items and I'm walking out the door. They usually have what I need and I also enjoy that they're 24 hours, but the few minor setbacks don't make this store that ideal of a shopping experience. read more

I have a lot of love for Pricechopper for a number of reasons. Being open 24/7, having good deals most weeks, competitive prices overall, decent selection, excellent location. Most of the time they don't keep you waiting long (compared to Walmart) and they even have a few very cute cashiers. I have friends that have moved away and one of the main things they miss is this place. It's easily the best grocery store in Marlborough. However, the one negative I'd like to point out is the fact that for many years you've gotten about a 50-50 shot of having a managers special ring up correctly at the register. Ok, nobody's perfect. I get it. What once was an occasional case of attempted robbery has lately become an epidemic of highway larceny though. Every single time in the last 3 trips some deal they had hasn't rung up correctly. And it's not just managers specials anymore. I literally have a roll of small bills in my pocket from different refunds that's starting to make me seem like a drug dealer or pimp. And I'm only 31, not old enough to be the stodgy geezer holding up everyone behind me arguing over one coupon or another. But that's the position I seem to be finding myself in on a regular basis now. So please Pricechopper, stop making me feel like my grandmother and I'll bump you right back to 5 stars where you belong. And everyone else, make sure to check your receipt closely before you leave. read more

This is a review of the staff who once again did their best in a crunch. Just hung up with "Steve the meat manager" who spent 5 minutes looking for the right sized turkey for me after a change in headcount at our Thanksgiving dinner table. Friendly and helpful. I know dealing with the public is not easy but there's a core set of people there that always rise above. And I think the employees are a large part of the reason that the store is consistently busy. That core set give it a "local grocer" feel which is appreciated by folks like me that have shopped there since they opened. You get what you pay for! Pricechopper is GREAT for deals. They take double coupons and have a few great BOGO offers. I do notice that the produce goes bad quickly, especially avocados and grapes. We've also had to throw away great cuts of meat because they had gone bad in the store and we hadn't realized it. Great for discounts but check your meat twice. read more

I like this place, good selection and nice prices. The only thing I do not like about this place is the automated checkout loudly says your payment method, the guy ahead of me in line was payingh with an EBT card and the machine said please enter your "EBT" code...and everyone looked at him, I felt so bad for him! For my own protection I know never to use my debit card there as people will try to get my code because that machine will say please enter your "debit" card code. The people at Price Chopper need to fix the very public announcing machines. read more

There is a store within 3 blocks of my home in Marlborough but because of continuing rising prices there I prefer to shop elsewhere. The gas "advantage" is useless for a single person or family of 2 or 3 - you have to spend $100 to save 10 cents. Big deal. Price Chopper has become one of the more expensive stores in metro west. (Don't people comparison shop anymore?) I only shop there for sale items or if I need something late at night after other stores have closed. Several years ago I actually talked to a mgr. about the high prices, giving the example Brighams qt. of ice cream priced at $5.99. I said other stores were selling for $3.69, $3.99, & none higher than $4.29. Next day I checked & they had lowered price to $3.99. If I need to buy a lot of groceries, I go to the Hudson Walmart. read more

DO NOT buy produce from Price Chopper! I don't think they even get their products until they are already rotting! Once or twice might be a freak occurence, but just this week alone we have purchased a watermelon that was actually warm, mushy and fermenting in the middle and ears of corn that when shucked had LIVE worms/caterpillars crawling inside of them. And that is just this week! We try to pick up our produce at Sudbury Farms, Stop & Shop or Hannaford's - even the Super Target and Walmart have far better quality - but Price Chopper is by far the closest to us and sometimes for convenience sake we cave and buy fruits/vegetables there... and without fail we regret it! read more

Went through the self-checkout on 1/2/2017. Got into a too-long discussion with the overweight 17 year old running the monitoring stand. Seems that he not only felt it was his right to inspect and comment about my tofurkey & Just Mayo purchases but his duty to start a discussion about vegetarians and about how "meat is OK in moderation". First, he should not be commenting about what the customers are buying. Secondly, he should not be giving out dietary advice [due to age & obesity as mentioned above] to a woman twice his age. Thirdly, I do not go to the grocery store to get into an philosophical debate about the ethics of animal slaughter. My opinion on the matter is neither Price Chopper, nor the SJW cashier's business. Guess I'll be driving a little further to Stop & Shop in Hudson. You would think at the Self-Check out you'd have a moment's peace from rude employees, but no, not at Price Chopper. He even made a point in telling me that he went out of his way to have conversations with people using the self-check out because his mother raised him right and manners were important. Clearly he does not understand that the point of self-check outs is for the customers to not have to talk to the employees. Some serious social skills are lacking on this employee's behalf, as well as judgement on the management's behalf for putting this kid in a place where he could interact with customers. read more
