She said it was because of the length of my hair. My mothers hair is down her back and started falling out after 3 days of having her hair done. She stated this was because of her texture. Both my mom and I have been getting our hair braided for years with no issues, so this is kind of hard to believe. There was no offer to re-do the strands that had fallen out of my mothers hair or to fix my hair. I am very very disappointed and will not be back. I would rather wait a bit at my previous salon and know my style will last versus sitting with someone who will rush and takes no pride in their work. Also, during my mom's appointment she took a call from someone trying to get their son's hair done. She told the woman she was booked on every day that the woman asked for and stated when she got off of the phone that no one is going to tell her when they get their hair done. I want to share my experience with Loc N Luv Salon because this situation could have been avoided…read morewith clear communication before accepting my deposit. I contacted the salon and scheduled an appointment for 11:30 AM. I was told that a $25 deposit through Cash App was required to secure the appointment. I sent the $25, and the stylist confirmed that she received it. It was not until around 9 PM the night before my appointment, after my deposit had already been accepted, that I was asked whether I could bring cash for the remaining balance. I explained that I could not and that I needed to pay by card. I was then told, "I don't take cards sorry." At no point before I sent my deposit was I told that the remaining balance had to be paid in cash. When I originally asked about the salon's services, the payment information communicated to me was that the deposit was paid through Cash App. Because I could not meet a cash only requirement that I did not know existed when I booked, I asked for my $25 deposit to be returned. The stylist refused and stated that deposits are only refundable if SHE cancels. To be clear, I was not simply cancelling because I changed my mind. I was prepared to attend my appointment and pay for my service. The issue arose because, after accepting my deposit, the salon disclosed a payment restriction that prevented me from completing the transaction. The salon has now posted publicly that its "regular clients know" its payment process but that "new people don't know it." That statement actually highlights my concern. I WAS a new client. If new clients do not know the policy, then it needs to be clearly disclosed to new clients BEFORE collecting a supposedly nonrefundable deposit, not afterward. It has now been more than 24 hours, and my $25 deposit has not been returned. I have filed a consumer complaint regarding the transaction and have preserved the Cash App receipt, our complete text conversation, and the salon's public post. This review is not about criticizing a business for preferring cash. Businesses are free to establish their own payment procedures. My concern is about transparency: tell a new customer the complete payment requirements before taking their money. Unfortunately, based on how this was handled, I cannot recommend this salon to new clients. I was thankfully referred to Dreadz N Headz by a nearby beauty supply & they accepted multiple payments types, were professional, & had good service.

Stacie did a GREAT job on my blonde highlights. I am very picky about my blonde hair as I've had stylists in the past ruin the color (too blonde, making me platinum, too orange, you name it). It was exactly what I was looking for on the first try without really even explaining that much to her. The salon is super cute and clean. Love the look of it as well. Stacie was very nice and also efficient; she was about an hour quicker than what I'm used to for getting a full head of highlights with toner and cut. This will be my new go-to.

I have tried most brands at Ulta and when I discovered DevaCurl, I knew I was starting to see the light! A quick look on the DevaCurl website and I discovered they had specialist dedicated ONLY to curly girls. I was beyond excited! Fast forward a couple of days and a flurry of texts to my friends, I came across Diane for Curls in Columbia, MD and with two referrals from my friend's cousins, I made an appointment. While she has a great schedule, she is uber popular and typically books in 2 hour increments for the first appointment - we scheduled about 2 months in advance. Diane was completely thorough and super responsive via email. She was incredibly detailed as I gave her my daughters hair type, pics of her hair, what we hope to achieve, and her current list of products. Diane recommended reading the Curly Handbook (A MUST!) as well as some do's and don't's to prepare for the upcoming appointment. I walked in the salon with my daughter thinking I had a decent knowledge of what I was doing to her hair and I was shocked to find out while I was starting to grasp what my daughter's hair needed, my daughter's hair needed so much more. The first thing Diane did when we sat down is she spoke to my 9 year old about what SHE wanted. And I greatly appreciated that, after all it is her hair and not mine. We spent about 1.5 hours talking curly hair, products, washing procedures etc. My daughter left with vibrant bouncy well moisturized curls and a confidence boost. I left my head full of knowledge and another appointment in June to see her again. This is the start of something special - curly girls rock!!!
