Giddy that they carry Llama delicatessen salads!!
    Brittany S.

I drive past this place a couple times a day since it's close to home and I have been closely watching and waiting. They are opening. It's so great to see the space coming to life again, and all of the other neighboring businesses that are popping up in the building. Dream Palace is a combination of coffee shop and bookstore, and it appears they will be having guest speakers and events on the horizon. I was able to visit during the second day and was impressed by how smoothly everything went for it being so early in their business. They're definitely going to see a lot of traffic from the neighboring high school. I was also excited to see that they carry llama delicatessen salads for an affordable seven dollars. Those salads are so good! It was also fun to see that they are offering love handle breakfast burritos which I won't be able to resist during my next visit. I opted for the signature fig latte and it did not disappoint. It tasted like fall in a mug. They use Tinker coffee, beans, which Are some of my favorite.

I love it when you can drink your vanilla latte w/oat and read a book?? Dream palace books and coffee will be your new obsession. They have used books there you can get for very cheap or for a reasonable price! They also host events there like book readings so check out their socials to see what is next on the calendar.

Dreams come true! Who knew an eclectic and modern approach to brew and books blessed both eyes and appetite? Us three guys bounced in last Saturday, checking off another new coffee shop on my Indy checklist. Dream Palace about buried Rabble and Blue Mind for top bill. The cherry vanilla lemon spring seasonal house crafted latte was way too small! These guys! I tell ya, hilariously ironic some baristas get conservative given much of the shelf materials. The java juice paired perfectly to the tangy yellow citrus surprising even my spoiled history of sampling good espresso between Detroit, West Virginia, and San Diego. There's that fresh red fruit and bold vanilla too. Both us guys who had this latte were all for it. The other did a mocha and pork belly burrito. When they asked if we had fifteen minutes to wait for it, I immediately knew it would be a quality brunch. And of course I was right, in short this place needs bigger mason jars to help us fully treat our time here. A small jar isn't ideal for plopping down with a book, laptop, or staring out the window at the rain pretending I'm a struggling artist. Wait I don't have to pretend. This is the winning atmosphere, enjoyable staff, and fantastic menu we all need struggling artist or not.

Cute coffee shop near the old north side! Their hot tea selection here is great. They are also a book store which a double bonus. So this place is perfect if you are catching up with a friend or want to chill by yourself and grab a book.

Visited here for the Indy book crawl. Service was fast for the number of people visiting. The book selection is mainly used books.

This coffee shop is a neat spot to catch up with friends or on work - book nerd or not. There is adequate seating and plenty of plugins if you need them. There is street parking out front which made it easy to pop in. The drink options feel so unique. I got the seasonal Banana Nutella Latte and loved it! The standard drinks (espresso, latte, cappuccino) are there too if that is more your speed. The windows and ambiance make this corner shop feel like a perfect spot to dive into a good book or just sit and watch the buzz of the city. Give it a try!

Such a cute place!! Been meaning to study here for a while, and I had a great session. There's a coffee and seating area in the front with some books on display, and a lot more books in the back! The decor here is super cute and aesthetically pleasing, and there's a lot of natural light that flows through the windows. Lots of outlets as well, and it's open a bit later than other coffee shops--till 7 pm! Fig latte was great, can't wait to try some other flavors in the future. They have some salads, sandwiches, sparkling drinks/kombuchas, and breakfast burritos as well!

I usually save five stars for the best of a category... so I'm making a new category for dream palace because it really is unique as a book/coffee shop (which is everyone's dream, right??) anyways, popped in here before first Friday and had a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate wasn't anything special (taste wise- it did have a cute design) but the employees were friendly and the books were fun. Maybe a fun date spot with liftoff ice cream for dessert? I lived in the neighborhood while this corner spot was closed... the entire two years... so I'm thrilled for something to be there and hope they succeed!

First, this place is so cute. Love the set up- tables, seating, bar top, etc. Second, the drink menu is pretty decent for the shop. I met up with the party after they'd arrived and ordered. So the barista never asked me if I wanted a drink (whoops- which I did...) but my friends loved their hot chocolates. Maybe I'll get to try something next time! Lots of great books to choose from. Love the location. I hope they get lots of business!

Came to try their coffee and it did not disappoint! Definitely try out their fig latte. I loved that it was a very subtle flavor and not super sweet. The coffee prices are very reasonable compared to other coffee shops. The books are organized very nicely and labeled well. I like that they don't display the basic, popular books that every bookstore does. They display unique options and the shelves are labeled well.

The cutest new coffee shop! Great studious vibe with the library right next door! Dream Palace Books + Coffee has opened in the building that used to be the home of Thirsty Scholar a coffee shop known to many in downtown. From my experience with the high quality coffee here, unique drink options such as a Fig latte, and relaxing ambiance I can only imagine this place is going to be a hit! There are also great food options, such as sandwiches, croissants, breads, and breakfast burritos all for a reasonable price! Furthermore the staff was awesome and helpful when deciding between sweet and not sweet drinks! I definitely encourage those visiting to try the Fig latte while they still have it!! Will definitely be back to study here soon!

A used bookstore and coffee shop - Dream Palace is my happy place. They have a fantastic selection of used books at great prices, espresso drinks and tea selection as to be expected, and baked goods from The Leviathan are delicious. The barista was super nice. Plenty of street parking nearby.

This pistachio croissant is something of dreams. It was perfectly delicious and had a sweet cream filling on the inside. It was the type of croissant that is crunchy on the outside, but still beautifully flaky. The fig latte was deliciously, balanced with sweetness and several layers of citrus and spice flavor. The spot is very clean and filled with light! I love that is also a Place where you can get books! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There was plenty of parking in front, but I went at a less busy time. I'll definitely be back!

I would never really recommend the building for wheelchair users, though I've managed to get around it fairly well. The building began development in 1921 and was completed in 1922. Like many Masonic Lodges, the ground floor was intentionally designed to allow for retail spaces as this would help support the Lodge. If you're familiar with the Irvington Lodge, then you know that it bears on it the rather ominous "Lodge #666" marking. It seems fitting to have this be in a neighborhood recognized for its many haunted locations, but there's no denying it even creeps me out a bit. The building was rumored to be the host of Ku Klux Klan meetings in the 1920s - KKK Grand Dragon D.C. Stephenson lived only a few blocks away in a mansion on University Avenue. Until 1950, the Lodge also hosted the Irvington Post Office. The Irvington Lodge continues to be an actively utilized building. Retail spaces are taken by Irvington Vinyl & Books, Hampton Designs Studio & Shop, and LVLUP Gaming Lounge. Additionally, Mosaic Church uses the Lodge's entire 3rd floor. Accessibility is most challenging in the 1st floor retail spots, though I noticed during my recent visit that Irvington Vinyl & Books had installed a bit of a ramp trying to help the situation. It's certainly not ADA, though it is an improvement. You can get into the first floor of the lodge. There is an elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors. The 2nd floor includes a theatre room, reception room, a fully functioning kitchen, and a buffet area. You can rent these facilities and the rates are pretty market friendly. The Theatre Room has over 2300 square feet and many period touches still in place. It's rather stunning. The Reception Room is right about 1400 square feet. The 3rd floor has a couple of large main rooms. Hardwood floors are in place throughout and there's a stunning balcony that would be great for a wedding (unless you're in a wheelchair - then it would suck). This is one of those buildings I can't help but love. I'd give almost anything to have an office here, though it would inherently be a not particularly wheelchair friendly one. You also have close proximity to the Irving and nearby Irvington area businesses. Renting the facilities requires the usual liability insurance in place and a deposit, though rates are pretty friendly. They don't have preferred vendors - so, it offers flexibility that some venues don't. The Irvington Lodge was acquired, I believe, around late 2017-2018 by longtime Eastside resident Yasha Persson and a team. Given the pandemic was right around the corner, it was a challenging time to acquire such a beautiful building. However, here's hoping it continues to be such a beautiful, vibrant part of Irvington.
