Family Time Games is an absolute gem in Indianapolis. From the outside, you may not think much of it, wedged in the same strip as a Harbor Freight and Subway, but inside is a vast collection of games to buy and an even larger inventory of games to play. My fiancee and I often bring our own games to play on their large wooden tables and playmats, but it is really convenient to have a wide selection of games to try out and demo. Shane and all the employees are wonderful and can provide great recommendations on games as well. It costs $5 per person to sit at the table, and that $5 can be used towards snacks and drinks as well. Additionally, you can bring in your own food and snacks for a long gaming session. The community that exists at Family Time Games is amazing. There are often people who are looking to have another person join their board game or even their D&D campaign (with an active Discord for the shop). There are always new games that come through the store along with occasional sales on the games. Even though many of the patrons trend towards hardcore tabletop and card games, the store is very approachable for novices and young children who are interested in getting into the hobby. We love supporting Shane and Family Time Games. It is one of our favorite places in Indy to spend an evening or weekend day and we will continue to support our FLGS (friendly local game store)! read more

this place is cool as heck. it's games old and new. board, cards, trivia, action basically anything you could imagine. you can of course purchase games or game related items! if they don't have something in stock they'll gladly order it for you. we walked in and had zero clue how the place operated. so the worker gave us a run through. then she asked what games we like & were interested in she made us aware of new board games to try out at the tables & grabbed it for us. their demo wall is filled with a huge array of games for you to sit down & play for free! (tips are welcome). there is plenty of table space & they sell snacks for cheap. we were a bit confused on our game and asked for help- associate came right over & was very nice! some of the other patrons were playing a game & told us about it. i think when other people are pleasant in a business it says a lot about the place & the people they attract. -- if you build figurines for games like world of warhammer they'll let you rent a shelf space to keep your players & things. this seems very useful instead of transporting it back home or damaging something you just painted. there is an unpleasant odor in here & if something stopped me from going back it would 100% be this. its super strong and stopped us from looking around or staying longer. it'd be great if lysol/wipes were required before you put a game back. read more

Family Time Games is my favorite tabletop store ever. The atmosphere is welcoming for everyone from the hardcore miniature gamers to boardgame enthusiast to the Mom just trying to find a gift for their kids. The majority of the square footage is dominated by the large gaming area with tables for everyone to get together with fellow gamers to continue a D&D campaign, try out a new game, or play and old favorite. The tables also play host to a lot of meet-ups, competitions, and events scheduled both by the store itself and other patrons. The tables are awesome but the sales side is unrivaled in central Indiana. The sheer number of games in stock ensures that they have most of the classics, and major new releases available for immediate purchase. Plus the owner is always willing to special order anything from his many distributors. If you ever need a good recommendation, the owner, his staff, or anyone just hanging around playing a game is always willing to point you to their new favorite. The friendly local game store is the lifeblood of the tabletop hobby and Family Time Games makes it easy to shop local. Family Time Games is like Cheers -- everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. The store is run by a husband and wife team (Shane and Sandra) who are as nice as they are knowledgeable about board games, role playing games (RPGs) etc. What makes it such a great store is the wall filled with hundreds of games that can played free of charge and "test driven" so to speak before purchase (from their enormous selection) as well as the huge purpose-built tables that are ideal for gaming. Also, it's an entertainment destination with every night of the week hosting players of one or more games. For example, Friday nights people gather for chess, Saturday afternoons for Pokemon and Wednesday nights for D&D. There are many opportunities to meet other gamers of all ability levels and my son and I have made lots of friends through the store. They even have a ladies-only gaming club. And as if that weren't enough they have super cool special events such as game auctions (a great chance to clear away your old games and earn store credit for new ones) and Pokemon pre-releases. Awesome game shop! Owner was really friendly and gave some great suggestions. We were looking for some games for our toddler and they had a nice selection of HABA games. But if you are looking for Euro or Ameritrash games, you will be really happy with their selection. Also lots of table space and demo games. Wish we had more time to hang out.
