Closed 12 minutes early, full counter force behind the deli. Customers are not welcome in and they wouldn't even come to the door.

I am standing outside on a Monday, no explanation, full staff behind the counters and it is 3:48pm and they are locked up tight. I don't care how good a place might be if they can't honor their hours or put up a sign to justify closing shop early, I will never return. I will rate this deli zero out of 5 for the ridiculous lack of service. They need to adjust the business hours as 4pm is not being followed- maybe call it 3:30pm Monday to Sunday. Waste of my time.

I came by on a Sunday for some "me time" solo, with a book. I got a Giants Combo, hot on a sweet roll. The bread and all ingredients were incredibly fresh and delicious. I got an 805 lager and was just thinking about how delicious and fresh the beer was and how well it paired with the sandwich when I spilled it. I came in looking for a rag to clean it up with, and not only did someone come out from behind the counter with a chuckle to help clean it up, but Rolando poured me another one. It was a small, but meaningful move that he didn't have to do. It's just so nice to experience those small moments of hospitality. It put a smile on my face, and reinforced my love for this place.

Indoor and outdoor seating, clean restrooms. In the evening, it turns into a hookah social event with Middle Eastern music. I've never done hookah, but it looks like the people doing it are having fun. The reason this place is so well run is the owner seem to be there most of the time and take a lot of pride. This is a truly top-tier spot. Enjoy.

My absolute go-to is the hot turkey dinner, it's like having Thanksgiving year-round with all the fixings. Parking was fairly easy to find, we immediately found a spot on a Saturday afternoon. They operate cafeteria style basically. You get in line, you order what you want from the carvery, and pay. We stood off to the side to study the menu before hopping in line as it was our first time. I ordered the roast turkey sandwich on dutch crunch bread, which they dipped in jus for me. They also asked if I had a preference for white or dark meat, which was very nice. I chose a mix. After I opted for all the toppings, the carver complimented my sandwich choices. So I knew I was in for a good meal! My boyfriend opted for a half roast turkey sandwich on white bread, mac and cheese, and the soup of the day. We found a table pretty easily and I liked the assortment of mustard at the table. Decor was very charming and old fashioned, but I liked it! Workers were bussing tables around us and working very hard. We're both looking forward to our next visit, very enjoyable experience! Service was great from start to finish!

Solid sandwich spot in Redwood City located right along the intersection of Broadway and El Camino!…read moreThey do have a parking lot but it's super small, probably only enough space for five cars. They have a couple of tables to sit at inside, all with barstool seating. The menu was extensive, but didn't seem to be as varied as the other Ike's location I went to. I'm interested to see how the menu changes across locations. Ordered the Hot Mama and got a bag of chips for checking in on Yelp. The sandwich was ready in around 10 minutes and was sizable. The chicken tasted like a rotisserie chicken from Costco (in other words, quality) and the Frank's Red Hot added some good spice while keeping the chicken from being too dry. However, when the Frank's ran out, the sandwich was a little bland. This is no way affected my rating, but they had an older digital POS system (it only takes card, no Apple Pay) that was a little hard to use; the cashier had to show me how to swipe my card through it. I thought this was kinda cool, cause I mainly see businesses using Toast, Clover, or Square terminals. For the amount of food you get for the price (around $13) and the quality of the meat, Ike's is definitely worth stopping by.

$13 (plus tax). Cubano sandwich is better than 3 stars, but not yet at 4…read more Good bread can make or break a sandwich, but it has to be in balance with everything else. I'm not buying a bread sandwich. The bread's job is really to frame and support the other ingredients and not dominate the experience. In the Cubano, the bread did bookend and support the ingredients, but there was simply too much of it compared to the important ingredients like the proteins. The crumb was thick and overwhelming, so each bite started with a mouthful of bread rather than a mix of the flavors. That was especially disappointing because the meats were clearly a step above what you find at most sandwich shops. The ham was carved directly from the bone which deserves recognition. Tasted alone, it had great flavor and was a quality product. The pickles were green and snapped with freshness. But these ingredients got lost behind the excess bread. With a better bread-to-filling ratio, the ham and the rest of the ingredients would have made more on an impact. As for the shop itself, when I first walked in, it felt like the kind of neighborhood spot where one of Tony Soprano's guys might stop by to collect a protection payment. I half expected a bagman to emerge from a back-room card game wearing an undersized sleeveless T-shirt with a filterless Camel hanging from his lips. It's not intimidating, but a bit of no-frills grit and unapologetically old school. I had the cashier pick between the two sandwiches I was considering and went with the recommendation. The process is straightforward -they make the sandwich and hand it over the counter. I wasn't asked whether it was for here or to go, and since it arrived in a brown paper bag, I took that as my cue to start walking with it. Character isn't this place's problem. The shop has personality, the ingredients are quality as the ham deserves praise. But for me, the bread overwhelmed everything else. A better protein:bread ratio would have earned this place another star.
