I wish I had a video or pictures from this experience, for everyone but somethings are ment to be remembered on their own..... We needed a smaller surf board to throw in car on the go for our 8yr old surfer, I called ahead to primal surf shop & Susan answered & said she would have one ready for him to pick out! When we arrived Mike showed JP all of the boards & he picked which one he wanted & Mike took the time to put the fins on the board with JP & give him a little lesson on surf safety & some surf talk! JP loved the whole experience! We've ordered other boards all online & now that Mike gave JP that experience, we will go to the primal surf shop & get the boards from now on! Mike & Susan both gave him an experience he will never forget! We got in the car & JP said Primal Surf is my favorite store! We recommend this surf shop to all surfers! read more

We took a vacation recently to Brigantine, NJ and decided to take surf lessons for the first time. Myself, my boyfriend, my 12 year old daughter, my best friend and her 10 year old son all took lessons with Primal Surf. The entire experience from start to finish was awesome! We decided to visit the surf shop before our lessons. They were on point with their COVID rules. Masks required, limiting the number of customers, hand sanitizer upon entering, and social distancing inside the store. They had a great selection of boards, bathing suits, SPF products, PuraVida bracelets, and more. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The owners Mike and Susan were super nice and we enjoyed talking to them. Our surf lessons were great! The instructors were awesome! Encouraging, fun, knowledgeable, and patient. I was nervous going into our lesson, but our instructor Jack had me popping up on that board in no time! We had a BLAST! My daughter went a few days later for another lesson. The waves were bigger and more intimidating and she was ready to quit. After a pep talk from myself, Susan, and her instructor Mike Doherty, she went back out. And she did it! She stayed closer to shore where she was more comfortable and her instructor Mike was SO PATIENT with her. He kept reassuring her that she was doing great and that he would be there with her for each wave. I can't thank them enough for making our first time (and Lulu's second time) an awesome and fun experience! If we ever make it back to Brigantine, we will be sure to visit Primal Surf again! read more

I have really fallen in love with this store. The owners and staff are very friendly and knowledgable of their wares and teachings. My husband and I took surf lessons with Primal and they were great teachers. It was fun and very helpful. I had never surfed before and they had me up on a board very quickly. I felt that I was in great hands. Then my good friend and I took their morning SUP lesson. Again, they were extremely informed and really have a strong knowledge of the local conditions and effectively communicate and truly teach you the fundamentals so that you can continue to practice or take these sports up on your own. They also carry a great selection of suits and cover-ups and Sanuks. We are really big fans! read more

They have a selection of paddle boards, kayaks and surf boards to rent. however customer service was poor and sales staff was clueless on how to use the register, leaving the owner to do most of the work. Be warned that if you plan to rent equipment you will need to transport it. read more

I love Primal Surf. It's the best surf shop, period. I'm from the California coast and Primal Surf beats every other surf shop I've been in.
