The nurse and the PA who we eventually saw in the back were so warm and professional. They really put my daughter at ease. From walking in the door with an online scheduled appointment of 10 to leaving was under an hour. We saw two other patients exit, and the building was very quiet. I imagine that the wait can be FAR longer during a busier time of the day, so I am so glad that our experience was a prompt and as pleasant as it was!

I was having basic flu symptoms- nausea, dizziness, fever, aches, etc. I went in to get a prescription for THE FLU. While I did get in rather quickly, the positive stops there. Once the doctor came into the room she ordered a urine sample (?) and said that I would need a pelvic exam (???) while rudely pushing my husband out the door. She then told me that I needed to be STD tested and proceeded to take all kinds of blood samples. When I told her I was simply there to cure the flu, she shushed me and said that I had something much more serious. While giving the urine sample, I noticed a newly forming rash on my left leg and she told me to ignore that, it wasn't a concern. Lastly, she instructed me NOT to talk with my HUSBAND about the testing, because it would probably cause conflict in my marriage, and she wanted to be able to sleep at night. She sent me out of there with nothing. ....Fast forward to the next day~ rash has broken out all over, and I go to the ER. Sure enough, I was having something more serious than the flu- a severe allergic reaction. This quack should not be in practice! For those of you who go to these Doc-in-the-boxes on a regular basis due to low cost~ STOP! I found an awesome general physician with the same copay as the clinic. Sadly, my loved one had been diagnosed for 9 months and had been treated by multiple Emory providers. No-one mentioned IMC. I learned about it through the Shallowford Alzheimer's Caregiver support group. To Qualify Before establishing care, patients must have a dementia diagnosis. Get on the wait list for a cognitive testing appointment and make an appointment with a neurologist in the interim. Integrated Memory Care Clinic (IMCC) IMCC enables patients and family care partners to have geriatric primary care, dementia care, caregiver support and education at one location with free parking! If your loved one has a cold, needs medication management, or is experiencing dementia behaviors, specialized nurse practitioners diagnose and treat with the goal of avoiding the ER and hospital visits. One Stop Shop Instead of a primary care doctor, patients' care is managed by nurse practitioners who have advanced training & specialization in dementia, geriatrics, and palliative care. The nurse coordinates care with geriatricians, neurologists and a clinical social worker. Dementia-sensitive primary care frees you from having to explain the diagnosis at every appointment, especially if your loved one has mild dementia and "presents well." Treatment/Services Services include preventive care & immunizations, treatment for acute issues like falls & infections, monitoring chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, care partner-only visits, planning for future care, cognitive assessments, referrals to specialists and an after-hours line for patients with urgent issues. Resources/Information The IMCC newsletter provides information such as virtual lectures, support groups, estate planning, clinical trials and events like "Musing Together" at the High. I've attended two empowering brain health conferences. My favorite project was "Improving Care Through Improv" at Dad's Garage where caregivers learned to use humor and "yes and" strategies to better communicate with loved ones. And we were paid! Insufficient seating for the million clients coming in and out but we waited in the car. 80's - 90's soft rock plays in the background. It's a clean environment where everyone wears masks. Which is great cause some were there for covid tests and others had preexisting conditions. REGISTRATION/COST Registration available online and via phone but I used paper and a pen. $40 copay with United insurance. SERVICE Slow. We were given a 1 hour wait but it was packed! Actual wait was about 1.5 hours but worth it. Nurse practitioner Tiffani was warm & personable. Dr. Marissa Shaw was compassionate and effective. It was a quick visit but Dr. Shaw gave good advice, treatment, follow up paperwork, referrals and a prescription. Honestly it felt more like a PCP visit than urgent care! Only negatives were the wait time and the fact that Walgreens had no record of the prescription. VERDICT I highly recommend Piedmont Urgent Care and particularly Tiffani and Dr. Shaw.

Home test still showed positive.) Doctor said she would send another round of the same medication. Day 2 - Discharge document sent (text) was NOT the correct document. Document was for my previous visit 2.5 weeks ago for UTI. Called the office 2 times; left messages saying that the wrong Discharge document was sent. NO return call from the office. Day 3 - Called the office to ask about the wrong prescription that was sent to Kroger. NO ANSWER. Had to drive to AFC Urgent Care to tell them about the wrong Discharge Papers and the wrong prescription. Finally, I received a copy of the correct Discharge document and Kroger was called to fill the correct prescription. The office did not seem concerned that I had been inconvenienced because of their errors.
