Truly shocking experience here today. I came in for a routine yearly checkup - bp, basic labs, etc…read more I needed to confirm the basics are ok, that nothing has changed, etc to inform my specialist's treatment plan. I also noted on my intake that I had no concerns and no treatment was needed from the AllCare provider. Just the checkup. I noticed at the check in desk that the receptionist continued asking for my 'reason for the visit', 'primary concern', 'anything I wanted to discuss with the provider'. This was connected to the very small waiting room, and another patient was in line right behind me. At a minimum, this is annoying after providing that info TWICE on the intake paperwork when I booked and confirmed the appt, but that repetition happens everywhere sadly. However, it's also a HIPAA violation, asking for that info in clear earshot of other patients. I let it go figuring it may be due to them having both urgent care and primary care there. I waited until past my appt time only for the receptionist to come into the tiny waiting room in full earshot of the other patient and explain "the provider told me to let you know she doesn't prescribe (diagnosis stated) medication so...". I said I do not need medication, and I made that clear on my intake paperwork. I also told her this is not ok to discuss any PHI or diagnosis or treatment in a public area with other patients. She really didn't seem to understand this was wrong and told me she was just doing her job, that the provider is the one who told her to come out to the waiting room and tell me that in those words. Not only was it irrelevant given my reason for the visit, it was shocking that it wasn't just a young receptionist's mistake. The provider could and should have taken me back to ask any clarifying questions involving my concerns and her scope of practice. As the child of someone who worked for many years in a medical setting, I was taken aback. I've also worked in private practices, and this is completely unprofessional. Maybe most don't know the real meaning of HIPAA anymore, but know this- a waiting room must protect patient privacy by limiting incidental disclosures of Protected Health Information (PHI) to the "minimum necessary". They cannot disclose sensitive details like diagnoses. Really disappointing after wasting my very limited free time to get there just to have my privacy violated and then have to explain to someone how to do their job correctly. Only to be met with "I'm sorry I rubbed you the wrong way". Please know I was shocked but as kind as possible throughout this interaction. That response just tells me this is common practice there and will happen again. I chose to leave without completing the appt because I had zero reason to feel comfortable or to spend my money there at that point. I'll be filing a federal complaint. Do not go here until this has been addressed. Do not see Evelyn Larson NP at any other locations because apparently she's the one who instructed the receptionist to do this.

Not the greatest shopping center to makes lefts in or out of. I grew up down the road from here and remember this building as Blockbuster. :) Ambiance: clean, modern, sleek waiting room. A little quiet and sterile, but for what the building is, that's OK. Care/service: was there for my daughter, and we no longer live in the area. Chose this place based on my Dad's recommendation, location on Google maps, and that it had great hours of availability. The gal at the front wasn't too friendly, but maybe her coffee hadn't kicked in yet because she was really nice when we were departing. The nurse and the PA who we eventually saw in the back were so warm and professional. They really put my daughter at ease. From walking in the door with an online scheduled appointment of 10 to leaving was under an hour. We saw two other patients exit, and the building was very quiet. I imagine that the wait can be FAR longer during a busier time of the day, so I am so glad that our experience was a prompt and as pleasant as it was!

I called to get an appointment with them since I had been sick with sore throat coughing headache…read moreetc.... they did a TeleMed conference with me with a Doctor Who just kept on insisting that I probably have the coronavirus, I was just tested the day before and it was negative. But he made me come in to get tested anyway even though I had mentioned I'm pretty sure that's not what it is. When I made the appointment with them they told me that they wanted to do another Coronavirus test and I informed them that I had just had one the day before that came back negative. They insisted that I have another test and to drive in the back and someone could come out to swab my nasal cavity and do a rapid test.. In the back there was potholes, the place looked like the back of any crap hole that you might see anywhere, no signs, cones, no cameras etc. did not feel safe... actually thought I was in the wrong place so called and they said oh no, you're in the right place. Glad there were no car Jackers nearby. Anyway, the rapid test came back negative so they insisted that I take another test that they could send off for results, yeah another drive behind the business looking at dumpsters and homeless people, no offense. I told them that what if this is not what is wrong can you just see me and help me relieve my symptoms. I had to insist on a strep test which they finally agreed to. Even though the lady that swabbed me was very nice, as well as the one who took my nasal sample, she did not do an effective swab, when you swab for strep throat you swab the throat and the side, not run the swab back-and-forth over the top of the tongue which made me gag... and I did not have strep. The doctor did prescribe me two pills, but nobody came out to tell me what they were for, what the side effects were etc.... I just wanted to tell them I do not have a goddamn coronavirus! Unfortunately, they only came up with a pre-diagnosis which they thought was coronavirus and was not! But they would not let it go ...it's almost as if they wanted it to be that. I have an idea, since I passed the rapid test, why don't I just come in and get a real exam! I did pay for an office visit and never stepped foot in the damn place! I will not go there again, they might have some great reviews from people that felt better after they left there, but I felt like they were just trying to take my insurance companies money by offering test after test after test. What a disappointing visit! Not everybody that is sick has Covid!!!!!! It was literally like the McDonald's of urgent care, without the hot fries. UPDATE.... After I complained to the front office, the owner of the business contacted me and have me call one of the employees there named Dr. Romeo... Now HE was a pleasure to speak to... he acknowledged my concerns, and he listened to what I had to say. I think he was also very disappointed in my perception of the place, and the care that I received\didn't receive. He was not belittling, or patronizing, he seem to take to heart what I have to say about my perception. He also stated that they would work on the back to be more accommodating to the new testing "era". In addition, after hearing of all my symptoms and why they had to go through he was surprised that I had to go through it! Final thoughts said, he finally got me the antibiotic that I needed after reevaluating, and I felt he was very genuine. Mistakes happen, we can call them learning opportunities, and hopefully urgent care at Druid Hills learn something from this.

That same day, I went to another place where they diagnosed my condition and started me on treatment in less than an hour.

I was having basic flu symptoms- nausea, dizziness, fever, aches, etc. I went in to get a prescription for THE FLU. While I did get in rather quickly, the positive stops there. Once the doctor came into the room she ordered a urine sample (?) and said that I would need a pelvic exam (???) while rudely pushing my husband out the door. She then told me that I needed to be STD tested and proceeded to take all kinds of blood samples. When I told her I was simply there to cure the flu, she shushed me and said that I had something much more serious. While giving the urine sample, I noticed a newly forming rash on my left leg and she told me to ignore that, it wasn't a concern. Lastly, she instructed me NOT to talk with my HUSBAND about the testing, because it would probably cause conflict in my marriage, and she wanted to be able to sleep at night. She sent me out of there with nothing. ....Fast forward to the next day~ rash has broken out all over, and I go to the ER. Sure enough, I was having something more serious than the flu- a severe allergic reaction. This quack should not be in practice! For those of you who go to these Doc-in-the-boxes on a regular basis due to low cost~ STOP! I found an awesome general physician with the same copay as the clinic. I'l never, ever, ever go here again, and you shouldn't either.

Overwhelmed, fearful, helpless. That's how I felt when my loved one was diagnosed with dementia…read more It's extremely difficult to find resources and treatment. Integrated Memory Care is the only primary care practice in the U.S. specifically for people living with dementia due to Alzheimer's, frontotemporal degeneration, Lewy body, and cerebrovascular disease and their care partners. Sadly, my loved one had been diagnosed for 9 months and had been treated by multiple Emory providers. No-one mentioned IMC. I learned about it through the Shallowford Alzheimer's Caregiver support group. To Qualify Before establishing care, patients must have a dementia diagnosis. Get on the wait list for a cognitive testing appointment and make an appointment with a neurologist in the interim. Integrated Memory Care Clinic (IMCC) IMCC enables patients and family care partners to have geriatric primary care, dementia care, caregiver support and education at one location with free parking! If your loved one has a cold, needs medication management, or is experiencing dementia behaviors, specialized nurse practitioners diagnose and treat with the goal of avoiding the ER and hospital visits. One Stop Shop Instead of a primary care doctor, patients' care is managed by nurse practitioners who have advanced training & specialization in dementia, geriatrics, and palliative care. The nurse coordinates care with geriatricians, neurologists and a clinical social worker. Dementia-sensitive primary care frees you from having to explain the diagnosis at every appointment, especially if your loved one has mild dementia and "presents well." Before IMCC I called every state agency and none were helpful. I have two degrees and struggle to figure out Medicaid! We'd wait months for a visit with a senior doctor who was dismissive. Even with a great PCP, every appointment was in a different place and the providers didn't communicate with each other. After hours and on weekends, we had to visit urgent cares and the ER just to end up with a huge bill and no treatment. With IMCC Now I message the nurse on MyChart and receive a faster response. Neurology appointments are handled through IMCC, with virtual cognitive tests. When there was sudden pain, we didn't have to leave home. Dispatch Health was recommended to evaluate my loved one. A wonderful social worker provides emotional support, disease education and self-care tips. Jenny informed me about financial resources, guardianship and managing dementia-related behaviors. Treatment/Services Services include preventive care & immunizations, treatment for acute issues like falls & infections, monitoring chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, care partner-only visits, planning for future care, cognitive assessments, referrals to specialists and an after-hours line for patients with urgent issues. Resources/Information The IMCC newsletter provides information such as virtual lectures, support groups, estate planning, clinical trials and events like "Musing Together" at the High. I've attended two empowering brain health conferences. My favorite project was "Improving Care Through Improv" at Dad's Garage where caregivers learned to use humor and "yes and" strategies to better communicate with loved ones. And we were paid! Summary 188,000 people aged 65 and up live with Alzheimer's in GA. 374,000 loved ones are unpaid family caregivers. IMCC lessens the burden and enhances the quality of life of those living with dementia. I highly recommend giving IMCC a call!

They claim its an all in one fix. You can see all the necessary providers all in one shop. The problem is they aren't doctors they are NP'S & RN'S. They lack empathy and compassion but can put on a good front while in office. This might be the only one in the U.S right now but it lacks substance .
