Called the place at 10:00 when they opened and I asked if I needed an appointment to get a cut, the barber said no and to just come up. I get there and wait for the barber to finish the customer that was there before me which took about an hour, no big deal. Then someone walks in; daps up the barber and sits down and tell me he had an appointment...I walked out. Don't tell your customers they don't need to schedule an appointment then take somebody that "scheduled an appointment" before you. Bad business with unclear appointment policy. Not the ideal barbershop to patronize. Barbers actually stop cutting your hair to engage in spirited discussions involving football, music, etc. Took over an hour to get a drop fade. The language of the barbers was distasteful considering there were children and elderly persons in the shop being serviced. Lastly, my cut was not what I asked for. I was his 1st appointment that day. I think it was 9 or 10am. FRED. I think he's actually the owner of A-1 Kutz. Anywho, I'm a woman with a low cut and wanted him to color it. Funny (well, funny now) story. I attempted to leave a review months ago but I ended up doing it on another barber's page (thankfully, it got deleted). Shoutout to JuiceTheArtist. He could've AT LEAST called and told me his ETA #2 the first ten minutes of my appointment was him cleaning up the shop like my time ain't valuable, like I don't have anything else to do. #3 I could easily tell he was inexperienced in coloring let alone a coloring a woman's hair. I gave him the benefit of the doubt since I saw some of his coloring work on instagram. He did a terrible, half-a#@ job, and I definitely will not be returning. It's nice on the inside BUT...he was very unprofessional & provided subpar customer service. I can't speak on the other barbers in there but I have no interest in going back to that shop. I was charged $40 for a low fade. I know I was getting ripped off when everyone else was being charged $25. I was taken advantage of by this barber shop. I feel I was treated differently because I am white. If this happened in a dominant white shop to a black man the shop would be labeled racist. I don't think it is right to charge more based on race. read more

I have twin boys who needed haircuts. Juice the barber did a 15 minute skin fade which did not blend on the sides. He never shaped up the top of the hair. When I asked him to fix the sides he told me that it would change the haircut. I shared with him how to blend the sides to his haircut and he refused to listen. By the way I am a cosmetology Instructor. It is very disappointing to see a barber not concerned with customer service and client satisfaction. Made an appointment online for my son who was visiting from out of state and was charge $1.00 for the booking. Rusty was the barber that cut his hair and charged $35 for a Caesar cut. The cut was good but my son's bead was never touched even though he told the barber to trim, shape and line up. I called Rusty to ask him what was the price for the Caesar cut for a 22 year old he said $25.00 but charged $35 because we booked the wrong appointment online. I thought prices are charged based upon the type of services and not appointments. He finally told my son to come back and he shaped up husbeard. They are overpriced and shady. Got an advertisement from a brotha I met at lunch, didn't get his name, but it was for the Buford Rd. location that wasn't open yet. So we looked online and found the Snellville location and didn't know they cut by appt. We sat over 2 1/2 hrs. watching others get cut and was constantly told we were next. We watched available barbers sit with empty chairs while waiting on appts or eating chips and on the phone. I can say I won't be returning to that location, but I might be willing to give the other location a shot if someone can give me a date of when it opens. So far, very disappointed!!! read more

This place is shady and sucks. My first time here and I had 2 kids with me. One has a mid top not high top charged $15 still pricey for a 10 yo and second kid has more hair but not much higher. He would have to pay $20 different barber but same shop doing both kids. The barber first off was rude using language I don't understand for hair cuts and explain I didn't know what that meant. If you have 2 hours of spare time to wait to get a haircut where not one employee (out of over 6) even acknowledges your presence, then you've gone to the right place! Ridiculous prices!!! My son (15) and I are new to the area and he was looking for a good barber that's on point with the linings. He found A1 on Instagram so we went in. We got there about 2pm as walk-ins signed in for the lady barber. She was taking too long (constantly texting while clients were in the chair). By this time it's 4:10, so we decided to go to another one of the barbers. My son sat in the chair at 4:15 and didn't get done until 5:25, he got a box cut with a design on one side, we were told over the phone prior to coming the cost would be $25 but when he finishes the barber says $45. It's hard to decipher this business. Great haircut styles, and talented barbers. Of course, the barbers talk and chat, which is to be expected. However, when the chatting gets too excessive, then waiting becomes a factor. I've been there 3 times. The 1st time, I waited a good 45 minutes to be treated. I wanted a simple box top, and the barber gave me one. It looked excellent, and I believe it was right at $20-$25. So, that experience wasn't too bad. The 2nd and 3rd were satisfactory. I don't like how they don't address the next patron walking into their shop. The appointment system they have is mediocre, because seemingly, they only serve who has waited the longest. So, for example; the 2nd time I went, around 2:30 p.m., I placed my name on the list at 2:35. I waited a good hour, with other people walking in and others leaving. Roughly at 3:45, the barbers checked the list, called out my name, and cut my hair. Although the waiting was immense, I did noticed other patrons who had waited longer before me, without getting their haircut. Of course, the place got crowded, people left, and my haircut was just yet another simple box top fade. My cut took perhaps a solid hour, with a good look to it. The cost was $25-$30. So, overall; not bad, but not good. Satisfactory is a close bet. If you want a great haircut, then you got to deal with the wait, and the guessing of your prices. Honestly, they never clearly state how much each type of haircut is. P.S., I saw a sign about their rules in the shop (I wasn't sure if it was real or for comedic effect). I made an appointment at the Snellville location for my son to have his hair cut at 5:30pm. The barber we booked with is Shatera Fortner. We arrived at 5:25pm, signed in at the front desk, and was asked by the receptionist who we were there to see and did we have an appointment. After we let her know that we indeed had an appointment with Shatera we sat down. We watched this barber cut another customers hair during my sons appointment time then she proceeded to take pictures of his hair for 15-20 minutes. This entire process took an hour. After this gentlemen left she then let another person sit in her chair ahead of my son who has an 5:30pm appointment! When asked why was she cutting someone else's hair ahead of my son her response was "Why didn't you say something?" Last I checked, we were patronizing you and your business. It is your job to know when you have an appointment via Styleseat, not ours. She then told me she didn't know she had an appointment at 5:30pm and the first guy was new too. So that means what to me? Absolutely nothing. The only reason I didn't leave after 30 minutes was because I used my card to book this appointment and I didn't want my card charged a cancellation fee. Totally disappointed in this barber and her unprofessionalism. My sons cut looked good, basic, but good. His line up was on point, unfortunately her customer service was not. I may bring my son back to this location because the other barbers seemed to get their customers in and out. But, definently will not be spending my money with her. Also, I got a text message from Styleseat informing me of a 20% tip added to my total! No ma'am. Tip her for what? The over an hour wait?! Ridiculous. read more

I came in to A1 Kutz as a referral from a friend, I had good expectations for the shop. The aesthetics's the shop are great however no one acknowledged my presence in the shop for over an hour. I signed in the book as a walk in at approximately 4pm ...it's a Saturday I expected a wait. There were 3 children and a adult ahead of me And 5 barbers. Usually when you walk into a barbershop the barbers asked you if you are waiting for someone in particular introduced themselves or at least say what's up. I got none of that I sat there for over an hour, and no one said a word to me and even observed barbers taking extra long on their cuts so they didn't have to cut my hair... the barber I'm referring to had the same customer in his chair from before I got there until just before I left. Mind you this guy got a dark Caesar and his beard lined. in fact I left because after he got done with that customer he started blowing hair around the floor with a blow dryer and then started packing up to leave . I did not even get a haircut . I left and took my business elsewhere. Somewhere that has etiquette and professionalism. I would let them trim the hair on my dogs ass. A1 Kutz is probably by far the best barbershop in Gwinnett. I've been to many and none can come close to the quality service and treatment you get at A1 Kutz.
