I love the fact that they were gentle in handling my hair. I had locs for seven years so I've been out of the get your hair done, braid game for a long time. Anita was the main braider and then T. Jasmine also put in some work. The vibe was peaceful. They played gospel music and listened to sermons. The youngest of the ladies truly gave me hope. To see them so young and loving Jesus! Promptness: Some reviews mentioned long wait times, and I did notice one customer waiting a while. It seems the salon operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Fortunately, I was seen right away and finished within about 5 1/2 hours--pretty quick compared to my past experiences. Friendliness: I'd read a few negative comments about customer service, but my experience was the opposite. Everyone was pleasant, accommodating, and informative. Brida, in particular, was very friendly and made sure my requests were clearly communicated to the second stylist working on my braids. Cleanliness: This was the one area that fell short for me. It wasn't terrible, but cleanliness is a big deal--especially since infection control should be a top priority for any beauty business. The chairs weren't wiped down between clients, no capes were provided, the bathroom needed attention, and the shop overall could've been tidier. Still, I've seen worse. Along with cleanliness, this area is priority and was the main reason I decided to give them a chance--and I'm glad I did. The stylists were confident, experienced, and clearly skilled at what they do. My head wasn't in pain, the braids weren't too heavy, and I left happy with neat braids and grateful I took the chance. I also love how I can get an appointment very early in the morning. I did have to supply my own hair. They're great for styling if you want something really cute. I've since found a beautician that I can call my own, but I will definitely return for the styles that my personal stylist does not specialize in.
