So two days ago, I was a walk-in wanting medium box braids. They without hesitation took me. I asked the price and the price doesn't even do the quality work justice. My braids are on point. I love the fact that they were gentle in handling my hair. I had locs for seven years so I've been out of the get your hair done, braid game for a long time. Anita was the main braider and then T. Jasmine also put in some work. The vibe was peaceful. They played gospel music and listened to sermons. The youngest of the ladies truly gave me hope. To see them so young and loving Jesus! Who would've thought that in the so-called "Black Mecca," finding a braiding salon that checks all the boxes--location, fair pricing, promptness, friendliness, cleanliness, and neatness--could be such a challenge? After spending hours searching online and trying several shops across metro Atlanta, I often left unimpressed. Recently, however, I stumbled upon this salon that caught my attention through its reviews. After getting medium-sized knotless braids, here's what I found: Location & Parking: The shop is about a 45-minute drive for me, located right off a major road in a busy but pleasant area. Because it's in a plaza, parking was easy--plenty of spaces available when I went. Pricing: The cost was reasonable, around average for the area. I felt it matched the quality of work. Promptness: Some reviews mentioned long wait times, and I did notice one customer waiting a while. It seems the salon operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Fortunately, I was seen right away and finished within about 5 1/2 hours--pretty quick compared to my past experiences. Friendliness: I'd read a few negative comments about customer service, but my experience was the opposite. Everyone was pleasant, accommodating, and informative. Brida, in particular, was very friendly and made sure my requests were clearly communicated to the second stylist working on my braids. Cleanliness: This was the one area that fell short for me. It wasn't terrible, but cleanliness is a big deal--especially since infection control should be a top priority for any beauty business. The chairs weren't wiped down between clients, no capes were provided, the bathroom needed attention, and the shop overall could've been tidier. Still, I've seen worse. If they improved this, the experience would easily be five stars. Quality of Service: The reviews about their braiding skills were spot-on. Along with cleanliness, this area is priority and was the main reason I decided to give them a chance--and I'm glad I did. The stylists were confident, experienced, and clearly skilled at what they do. My head wasn't in pain, the braids weren't too heavy, and I left happy with neat braids and grateful I took the chance. BEWARE when taking your kids !! they don't pay attention to what's on tv and shows are playing with people having sex ! I Just picked up my 11 year old from getting knotless braids. I dropped her off around 12:30pm but came back to check on her. This isn't the first time she's gotten her hair braided or been dropped off. They were finishing up and I walked in with my 8 yr old son and 2 yr old daughter. All of a sudden my daughter puts her hands in front of her as I turn around I notice the show playing they are having sex you see it all (sound is on) ! I said to the lady working in my daughters hair is this what you play on tv all the time she said she isn't paying attention Mind you she's right in front of the tv how can you not see if not hear what's going on! Then I say it louder to the owner / or owner sister and she goes we don't pay attention to what's plays it's Netflix it will just play whatever They have still yet to turn it off !! .. I said ok ya but there's kids in here that do watch tv and on the show they are having intercourse . There were at least 5 braiders , so you can't tell me none of them looked up at the tv Any other time I'm there they're engaged in the African shows so I know they knew what was going on There was another child probably around age 6 fully engaged in the tv , and a couple had just dropped off their daughter who looked to be around 13/14 years old. They did a great job on my daughter's hair! The only thing I didn't care for was the loud, repetitive gospel videos playing in the background and the fact that the braider doesn't accept anything but cash, so I had to go to the ATM and draw a large amount, which I'm always nervous to do as a female. I HAD TO LEAVE A REVIEW IN HOPES THIS DOESNT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. Summary: Always late/ Change prices mid service / Didn't complete the style correctly in the back/ Very Unorganized/ Poor customer service and communication It's a standard braiding shop, but it comes with a lot of chaos. They don't use capes so i always leave with a bunch of hair all over me. I've seen ppl come in for an appointment at one shop which was busy and get sent to the other location. People constantly just sitting around and that's been me each time. I can finally say i won't be back. Over the past 3 years I've been here 3 times. First experience was long but decent, so i came back. Second experience was mediocre. She started my head then left me there for well over 40 mins while she finished someone else ( who she started before me) i paid for waist length and when i tried to ask about why it was stopping short. The owner argued me down that these braid stopping at the middle of my back were going to be waist length when they were done. I'm not confrontational like she is so i let it be. When my hair was done it looked childish. So own my own at home I added hair to the ends. READ TO THE END.. This time i was desperate, so i made sure to clarify EVERYTHING upfront. We agreed on 8:30 start time..she shows up at 9:30 ..someone asked for my hair so she could begin preparing it while we waited. She took one of my two bundles of boho. Owner comes in apologetic about being late and starts a section, i tell her the lady only took one bundle she says it's fine then she leaves to get food..when she comes back and is working through the other section i bring it up again bc i knew one bundle wasn't enough (bc we discussed it on the phone) and she goes we still have some boho in the back so let's get through that then I'll take the other one. Eventually they take the second bundle. 30 mins later, At this point over half my head is done and i ask for less boho on top of the braid; move the bottom pieces closer to the ends bc i like full ends and i wanted to confirm they were going to use the whole second bundle. Then she goes "you know this is going to be an extra $50"... huh?! First off that's a huge last min up charge. How 3/4 of the way done you're changing the price?! She had ample time to tell me the second bundle would cost more.. especially before they took it from me. (Keep in mind i still had the back half that needed to be done so the second bundle was going to be needed regardless. So why am i being up charged just to get my head finished.) She says because you brought a lot of hair. I remind her on the phone she told me 1 bundle wouldn't be enough. Now this grown lady is full blown yelling at me because i didn't know my bundles were thicker than hers or that there was an up charge for extra hair. I tried to get her to see that she should've brought that up on the phone, or at the beginning when i first mentioned the second bundle. Either way i wanted my hair finished so i said fine I'll pay it, i don't like how you handled that. So I paid the extra $50 on top of an already $300+ hair style bc she said it was more work. JUST for her not to use both the bundles ANDDDDDD when i got home, i realize she rushed through my head and didn't even add any boho to the back 2-3 rows!!!! Why charge extra and NOT EVEN COMPLETE MY HAIR OR USE ALL THE HAIR I EVEN TIPPED BC I DIDNT REALIZE HOW PETTY SHE WAS UNTIL I GOT HOME AND SAW THE BACK. When i thought about the ending of the service she didn't show me my hair, she didn't say do you like it, she didn't put mouse on my hair. She just walked away and waited for her money. Over the years I noticed she's a very money driven owner who just says she care about quality and customer service, but doesn't back it up. Because this was her chance to handle a situation maturely and she didn't. She's always talking disrespectfully to her braiders when they don't do right but really her way of conducting business is what drives plenty of ppl away. I looked online to confirm hours of operation. The closing time says 7:00 p.m. I arrived at 6:00 p.m. and was greeted upon entry. The owner was clearly braiding hair. Another person who had no one was just sitting to the side. All I wanted was a blow out (hair was already washed, dried, and stretched) and 5 or 6 cornrows in the FRONT! The owner said they're closed. I mentioned the ONLY reason I drove over was because online it says 7, but she stated they take the last client at 4pm. I know this is NOT true because I had my hair braided here a month and a half ago and witnessed TWO walk-in come in after 4pm. They will never get my business again! read more

While the work done was good, I can't recommend this place in good faith because the service is not good. I made my appointment almost a week ago for a Saturday with someone specific, and was instructed to come that day at 7am (an hour before open) so I could beat the weekend rush. I was also told that I would have two people working on my head, which would make the service time go by faster. I got boho knotless braids, provided my own bundle hair, came washed and blow dried, and paid the $25 deposit prior to my visit. I've had this style before and didn't mind if it took time to do, but I felt as a new customer my service was not prioritized or appreciated. I arrive promptly at 7am and was the only customer in the space until around 8am when they opened. It took the two stylists an hour to prep my braids, and in that hour two more stylists arrived. Right before they started on me, a woman came in looking to get her hair braided. There was conversation amongst the stylists; the two who came later already had clients in their chair and it absolutely made sense for one of the stylists working with me to just service the other woman (who had come the day before but was told to come back the following day because it was busy). This is where things started to get a little weird. The woman I had booked the appointment with ended up servicing the return customer, and the other stylist told me she would "start my hair and the other stylist would finish it." No problem. The problem started when the stylist who began on my hair did about 2/3 of the braids. Meanwhile the person I booked with was not even close to being finished with the other customer. Instead of the stylist finishing the job that she had started, I had to wait 2 HOURS until the person I booked with finished with the customer who arrived an hour later than me. At this point, all of the braiders were working on other heads, and some were working 2 stylists/head. I'm not sure why I had to be inconvenienced based on their incompetence, and it wasn't a good first impression, especially once I saw people who came in 2-3 hours after me getting fully serviced and out the door well before the last 1/3 of my style was completed. It was so unprofessional and rude, and I couldn't believe I had to suffer these consequences that had nothing to do with me. If I was prioritized, especially being the FIRST CUSTOMER of the day arriving an hour before opening hours as requested, I would have been out of the door much sooner than I left. All in all, I was at this salon for 9.5 hours when it really should have been a 5-7 hour service max. I had to cancel all of my plans for the day because they were late. Nana, the shop owner's daughter who seemingly was the onsite manager did not apologize or try to make things right. Instead she seemingly overcharged me for my service - she said to me as I was checking out, "did she [my booked stylist] you how much to pay?" I said no, and Nana spit out a price that I guess made sense to her. She had no idea that I paid a deposit, didn't bother to outline the service charges, ask me how my service was, nothing. Just wanted my money. Then after I paid via Zelle, she had the nerve to ask me "if I sent the money". That's all you clearly care about, so no need to pocket watch me when you have the technology on your devices to see for yourself. I will not be returning, giving credit, or recommending these people. They have a blantant disregard for your time and money; and I wouldn't even bother making an appointment after the situation I went through. read more

Missy Braids does great work. I have only been there a few times and both times they did a great job on my hair. I have brought Missy pictures of the hair style I wanted and both times they created the look. The location is not that far from my house so I thought I would give them a try. The only issue I have with them is communication/scheduling. It seams like when I schedule an appointment either the tech is late or something crazy is going on. I haven't given up on them I just need to figure out a way to communicate better so that when my appointment time is scheduled someone will be there to keep the appointment. My advice to anyone that schedules an appointment would be to double check the night before and maybe check again when you are on the way that way you don't have to wait so long. read more

This shop has talented braiders, however it is completely unprofessional. Scheduling an appointment means nothing here. Both my daughter and I have had extended waits up to almost two hours when we have scheduled appointments. Recently I scheduled an 11AM appointment online (with a reminder text to confirm one hour prior) for my daughter and arrived timely. Upon walking in we were barely greeted and immediately told we needed to come back later because they were already busy. After explaining to the owner I had scheduled online and received a confirmation text she completely dismissed me, repeatedly interjected, and said she doesn't control the online platform. She asked me to bring my daughter back at 2:30PM and when we did my daughter still waited until 4:20PM before her service started. The braider also took a 45 minute break while doing her hair. When she finally finished (at 10:30PM) and I paid by card, I was offered no apology for the inconvenience and also charged over $6 additional dollars for a processing fee. This was never communicated until I paid. This information is not posted in the shop. My daughter also witnessed others having their appointments cancelled on the spot upon arrival. On a previous encounter, I arrived for a previously scheduled 10:30AM appointment and was told there was only one braider there to do an 11AM appointment. Because this client had not arrived, they cancelled her appointment and did my hair, which is unfortunate. Unfortunately, the staff braid well but their service is extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here. read more
