Go for the Free Tastings Friday & Saturday and you'll find yourself bringing home some delicious treasures. So, some friends and I headed over to Primo Vino on a Saturday thinking it was a wine bar. It sounds like it, right? Whoops. We found ourselves in a very cute, botique wine shop. But, they had a Free Wine Tasting that day, so cheers! We got to try some great wines from a winery in California, and our wine steward answered all our silly questions without making us feel silly. He even filled us in on how one would go about pouring/serving from one of those gigantic wine bottles that you see on display. You can actually buy those giant wine bottles here! After our tasting and a few suggestions from the staff, we picked some fantastic wines to take home. I didn't realize there was a bargain bin of wine until I had already paid, so I will definitiely have to come back and check that out. Primo Vino sends info to their mailing list about what wines they will pour for the wine tastings Friday & Saturday (3:30 to 6:30pm), so definitely sign up for that. read more

Love this place. Brad, the owner is super nice and helpful. They've got a decent selection that definitely leans Italian (duh) and is more catered to the at least the semi-serious wine drinker. Prices are fair but don't go here expecting to find a better deal than the big distributors. They do wine tastings most weekends, which is a great way to get familiar with different types of wines from different regions. I have yet to get a bad recommendation here, hope they stay around awhile. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon (and a busy one at that- the G line had just opened and it was packed in Olde Town). They were doing a wine tasting, which they do every Friday and Saturday. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. They have a HUGE selection of well priced wine, and a full liquor store's worth of offerings if you're in a liquor or beer mood instead. We used Primo Vino to facilitate the booze for our wedding in June of 2017. I worked with Brad to come up with a selection of beer, wine, and spirits that would keep the party hoppin' and the guests dancin'. The sauce showed up on time, the extra unopened was whisked away at the end of the evening, and within 24 hours Brad had an updated, adjusted invoice for only the used product. It's difficult to come by specialty wine stores with a knowledgeable staff in the suburbs, so if you need to find a perfect wine for any event don't hesitate to stop in to Primo Vino. You can also visit their website and join their email list. They send out weekly specials, rare finds, and the wine tasting menu for every Fri & Sat evening. When you shop for wine here, it is like having a personal sommelier. We strolled in one day before dinner at The Arvada Tavern and met one of the owners. He took time to explain the layout by region, price, spirits, and beer. In the days when EVERYBODY is a GOOGLE EXPERT on EVERYTHING, there is comfort that this guy ACTUALLY knows what he is talking about regarding wines that match your taste, regional wines that you may like, and recommending wines that you should experiment with. I appreciate the one-on-one specialty attention to come up with selections that exceed my expectations. The owner understands that he must compete with the big stores like Applejack's and Total Beverage and keeps his prices competitive. You go to this place to actually learn about what you are drinking and why you are tasting what you are tasting. The only problem with this place is that it blends into the Olde Towne Arvada landscape. I walked in and asked how long that they were open. I was ashamed to find that they were open for more than 10 years. For that reason, this place is a hidden gem. read more

This place is full service. They have a great selection of wines and a very friendly staff that will help you if you're not quite the expert you'd like to be just yet. They also have a wide variety of high quality wine accessories for great prices, plus they have a small area for beer and liquor so you don't ever have to go anywhere else. I have been in to see Brad a few times. He's wonderful. My most recent experience was truly magnificent. I was trying to track down a bottle of wine for my employer, and (no surprise) Primo was the only shop that had what I needed. Brad answered a hundred and two questions, multiple phone calls, and even offered an alternative method of getting the bottle to me. (I used a courier service because I needed said bottle by five p.m. I work in Boulder and made the calls to Brad starting somewhere south of three p.m.) I will definitely continue to give this great shop my business! read more

We were having my wedding scheduled and we were looking for liquor to supply our venue. Needless to say, Brad was unbelievably rude to my mother-in-law. He was completely useless. Soooo, we went with Applejack. They were so accommodating and helpful. AVOID Primo Vino! I love this place and I'll tell you why. It's not gaudy, horrible and warehouse-like, such as some of the other specialty/liquor stores I've walked into. Everyone there KNOWS wine and can direct you to try something new that suits your palate and taste. I also go straight for red, and the sommelier recommended a couple of excellent and budget-friendly selections. The free wine tastings start at 4:30 on Friday and Saturday, and they're worth it! They pick a country and give you about four samples (2 whites, 2 reds). I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable but I can never learn too much about new and delicious wines. Give this delightful gem a try - you're guaranteed to go home with at least one bottle. read more

I have visited once so far and intend to visit again soon, and I'm afraid my wallet is going to get in lots of trouble here! As if this shop needs another great review - I might as well echo the crowd because it deserves another great review. I went in for a $25 Cotes du Rhone and left with exactly what I needed for the evening, plus a nice Arturo Fuente cigar for fun and a wealth of knowledge about the entire Rhone region of France and how the blends differ from North to South. I was pleased to see a variety of price points ranging from $20 or so all the way into the hundreds - so there is something for any occasion and budget. He did not carry my favorite champagne (Piper Hiedsieck) but had several others that I should probably try anyway. I look forward to returning to this shop. read more

If you need someone to provide alcohol for an event such as a wedding, DO NOT use Primo Vino. The owner, Brad, was unforgivably rude to our family in the process of finding someone to work with. He was short with us and completely rude. We decided to end this process and work with Applejack instead (who, by the way, went above and beyond). I know little about wine however I got a lesson when I stopped in here to pickup a bottle for a friends birthday. I normally just randomly grab a bottle that's on sale at an end cap of any large liquor store. This is not the place to do that, you have the most knowledgeable and approachable staff to teach you anything you may want to know about all wine. read more

They were fantastic to work with and even came to the rescue the day before the wedding by passing off stuff to our caterer when we ran out of time. Great selection of wines from $6 a bottle to $600.(Seriously) A wide selection from all over the world. The staff is very knowledgeable and will help you find what you are looking for. They do not try to sell you something you didn't ask for or need because they "listen" to what you say, ask additional questions, describe what it is they are showing you and let you decide. They are never pushy!! They offer free wine tastings on Fri/Sat as well as local wine tasting classes to assist their customers who are interested in learning about wine. The tastings and classes are NOT pretentious affairs with everyones nose in the air, they are informative and fun. I highly recommend this place if you are an expert or a novice. Called from out of town while my husband was in the Denver area on a business trip to order a few bottles of wine that this business showed as in stock on their website. Spoke to the owner who said it was no problem to get them ready and would call us if there were issues. My husband showed up at the store today and they had zero bottles of the wine in stock. We received no phone call or voicemail and on top of all of this the owner was extremely rude. Would not recommend to anyone visiting the area. Love this place. New to the area only been 3 times. Each time a different employee. All 3 were friendly, engaging and made good recommendations. If you want to talk to some laid back wine people and leave with some good bottles, go here. If you want to be talked down to by wine snobs, don't go here. The first time we went in there was an older guy working and we said we were looking for a botte of white $10 or under and he said, "I'll show you 4 and you can pick." we chatted a little and he said, "when you drink as much wine as I do, you're not buying $20s and $30s." He actually tuned us on to some Astica Chard for $6 that is VERY acceptable. I can't speak higher of this place. I'm all about service and this place is the shit. read more

From the other postings, I understand that it may be a good little winestore, but do not use it online. I had some produce shipped that was toasted, and Primo Vino was non-responsive in trying to solve the problem. So, I now have a few bottles of very expensive vinegar-in-training.
