Wow, what horrible customer service for a local neighborhood liquor store. The daughter is extremely rude and turned me away for my chip not working on my card. She also ridiculed me for having a passport instead of an ID and told me that she could turn me away if she wanted. It was so extreme and hostile. I literally drive all the way to Louisville just to avoid this place-sad thing is, I would give this place my business since it is within walking distance of me. My girlfriend walked out crying today because the woman who runs the place nearly refused service because she "wasn't skinny enough" to be the same person as in the ID photo. We are both well above the legal age and we've been coming here about once a week for at least 4 years now. Today will be the last time. I was greeted after I walked in and was asked if there was anything I was looking for. I shared, but she just walked away and didn't point me to where they were located so I wandered the aisles to look for those items. I picked up a couple things and was checked out fairly quickly. When my husband saw that the Basil Hayden was TWICE the normal price, he asked me to return it. I went back to request a refund and was told (not by one but all three people working at the time jumped in to share) that they don't accept any returns whatsoever for any reason. I go here out of my own laziness when I go to Safeway...but its truly my last resort. A convenience store never a destination. Seemingly nice people running it, but ZERO awareness about the condition of the store: dusty and scummy are best words to describe the surfaces throughout (shelving/counters/floor). Then there are the open spaces all over the shelves because they don't bother to move the inventory around so the shelves look full. And the signs are dysfunctional and unclear. Lastly, and this is why I'm writing this, today when I walked in the cashier was spacing out watching a zombie movie or show on television that was insanely loud and a turn off in terms of what you'd expect in a retail store in a nice neighborhood. I live across town and only stopped in to buy a bottle of wine as a gift. There was a line of about 6 people in front of me all buying one item bottles. She didn't card anyone, everyone was clearly of age, but what stood out was that she didn't thank ONE person for coming in and purchasing anything. Not one. My turn and I attempted to pay with an Amex card and she looked at me like I was attempting to pay with magic beans. She asked if I had other payment and I agreed but in the meantime a black man in his 20's walked in and she started to speak her language and a few heads popped out from behind the door to watch what the black kid was doing. My favorite liquor store in town! RIght when you walk in, you can see nice wine racks set up in the middle of the floor with signs on top of wine rack to differentiate which type of wine it is. Store is very organized. They have a plethora of wine selections and beer for you to choose from and if it's not in stock, they always offer to order whatever it is you desire. They're very helpful, attentive, and knowledgable of the products. Staff is tremendously friendly, helpful and cheerful. My friends and I love coming here! This is def the to go place for every occasion. I always come here and stock up for BBQ's, house parties, and dinners. Every time I cook dinner, I come in and ask for an opinion for which wine to pair with my food. The salesperson always makes excellent suggestions for wine to compliment my dinner meals. I always come here for the wonderful selections, but also for the stellar customer service. They always welcome me with a great smile and hello when I come in and I know I can count on finding my favorite wine/liquor here! read more

I feel lucky I didn't experience the woman behind the counter as written in prior reviews. The Asian gentleman at the register was adorable and so sweet. They have an average selection of wine, but it works fine for me. If I was interested in trying a new wine, I would go elsewhere. But that's not necessary as most wines are fine. I didn't look at all the beers but they definitely had enough to satisfy the average beer drinker. Prices are reasonable and the location works both for work and home for me, so I will return. It seems most of the past reviews have been for staff friendliness and not so much the liquor, beer and wine. Short Version: This store is hands down the worst wine & spirit store I have ever entered and that includes nasty sketchy down town type liquor stores. I live in the neighborhood and have frequented this place when I am too lazy to drive to Superior Liquor. Yes it is dirty, there is dust everywhere, it is over priced, selection is terrible, dogs in the store, and yes it smells weird. Despite all of that I would occasionally drop in to buy a cheap Bordeaux or a six-pack of beer and was willing to pay the extra $2 just because it was close. Well last night my wife and I decided to walk over and get a bottle of sparkling wine. I stay outside with our children and she walks in to grab the bottle and attempts to pay with AMEX. The lady owner became very irritated that my wife tried to use AMEX and raised her voice in a combative manner saying "We don't take AMEX!" and snatched the bottle from my wife and put it behind the counter as if my wife was going to run off with it.... Next: my wife comes outside to tell me they didn't take AMEX so I hand her my wallet and she goes back in. She attempts to use my VISA when the woman with her bad attitude grabs the card from her and says" let me see your I.D. again" "This isn't yours!" and snatches the bottle away again... all the while I am outside clearly visible and waving (they recognize me as I have been in several times). The woman refuses to let my wife buy the bottle because her name isn't on the card even though they can clearly see me outside... This is all fine, and I get it... and isn't the problem...though their collective attitude is still very rude and demeaning. I walk in to just pay and I am completely caught off guard by the woman's attitude. I go to hand her my card to pay for it and she raises her voice at me to show my I.D. and aggressively grabs both my card and I.D. from my hand. I don't say anything - I just pay and walk out. My wife and I were completely taken aback by how rude and aggressive she was for no reason. It bothered me so much I went back into the store to ask why she was being so rude to us. I said I come here often and have spent several hundred $ in their store and asked "why are you being so rude?" They both (man and woman owners) without hesitation immediately attacked and said "NO NO WE DON"T CARE DON'T COME BACK WE DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS! GET OUT GET OUT!"... so frantically like crazy people. I did't even respond and just walked out. The whole way home we were baffled and were wondering if we had done something wrong to provoke the issue.... well those thoughts quickly vanished when I came home and googled the establishment and read the reviews of the woman behind the counter. It was not us, there are crazy crazy people that work here, that have ZERO understanding of customer service and could care a less about losing the business of local customers. GO TO SUPERIOR LIQUOR it is worth the drive.... you'll be greeted with a great staff, clean store, better selection at a significantly lower price than this rats nest. Hopefully this place will be put out of business when Safeway starts to sell full strength Wine & Beer come next year! My young child and I popped in here after a quick trip to the Safeway next door; I'd never been there before so asked the older Vietnamese lady where to find X. she immediately started yelling, flailing her arms, and screaming English curse words at me, saying that I should know where to find everything and to leave her "the f*** alone!" As I immediately pushed my child out of the store she continued to yell, "get the f*** out of my store!" I was gobsmacked, as was my child; actually, he was scared. I live in the neighborhood and have been to this store several times. However sad to say that as of today, they have lost my business. I decided to get a bottle of Bacardi, then drove home and realized I already had one. I returned within 15 minutes. It was the same grouchy woman who had sold me the Bacardi. She was upset and started yelling 'no returns'. I asked where it says so. Turns out it is a 'no returns, only exchanges with receipt policy' in small print posted on one of the walls. I fished through my purse and realized she had forgotten to give me a receipt. There was more yelling and I stormed out never to return again. Will be sure to drive the extra two miles to go to a friendlier store that is polite to their customers. I hate this store. Although I can WALK to this store, I enter only out of sheer desperation after a trip to Safeway next door (i.e., I'm too lazy to drive the short additional distance to the vastly better Superior Liquors). Here are several observations in no particular order. 1. The selection of everything sucks. They do not care about what they sell. They have a large dusty sign for Alaskan Amber beer in their front window, yet they do not carry Alaskan Amber beer. The wine selections are dull -- Mondavi, Bella Sera, and other similar wines are all well represented. 2. The smell. Is there a kill floor in the back? 3. The disorganization. The wines are just sort of thrown here, there and everywhere. They couldn't care less about organizing by varietal, region or price point. 4. The outrageous prices. Out of sheer laziness after a trip to Safeway, I went in to buy a six-pack of Dale's Pale Ale, which was shockingly priced at $10.49. I refused to buy it, and I drove to Superior Liquors, which had 12-packs on sale for $13.99. 5. The filth. There's dust and lint on the shelves. The floors are FILTHY and stained. They have faded, disintegrating cardboard liquor displays that were probably complimentary from distributors but don't have a single item on them. Please drive the additional distance and patronize Superior Liquors. This place deserves to die, and it's only our community's own laziness coming out of Safeway that keeps this rat hole in business. read more

I have used Yelp for years as a resource to determine and differentiate the "bad from the good". This is my first review ever. Wish Yelp had a zero star rating. This place is absolutely horrible! My husband and I have been frequent customers for over two years out of pure convenience. They recognize us as regulars, anticipating our purchase yet still treat us like us shit. I recently and casually commented that they were out of our favorite but quickly opted for the more expensive alternative and was mid transaction when the Mrs. said "I wish I could choose my customers, because I wouldn't want you". Really?!!!! We've been reluctantly patronizing your store out of pure convenience and even pay more when you're frequently out of our preference, WTF?!
