a slice of deep dish pizza
    Kara R.

Hey yelp family, another review for you . I stopped by an I got the deep dish pizza ! It was so good now , I haven't tasted a actual deep dish pizza from Chicago but for a small town it DEFINITELY hit the spot . The service was great , the people were more than helpful . On the inside the ambiance was good as well the place gave off a good feel . I will be going back , and if you haven't tried it what you waiting on .

    Toasted meat ravioli

So, since I moved to Carbondale 4 years ago for school, I've been a pretty loyal Quatro's fan. But after seeing so many Primo's boxes piled up in my dorm's garbage cans, seeing how late they were open, and their free delivery, I decided it was about time to give them a try. I'm glad I did. What's awesome about Primo's is that they're open until midnight/one AM. This is great, because most of the time when I decide that I want pizza, it's well after the usual "dinner rush" hours. As a broke college kid, I also appreciate the free delivery. Free is free. I ordered a medium original crust with salami and black olives, a two liter of Sunkist, an order of toasted ravioli, and a cherry-pineapple dessert pizza. The toasted ravioli were a little well done around the edges, but were pretty good. It's worth noting that these are meat filled, since I assumed that they would be cheese. It was a pleasant surprise. Served with marina sauce, I'd get 'em again. The pizza was pretty good too. The sauce is a bit too sweet for my liking, but that's an issue I have with a lot of pizza places. I really liked that the salami was sticking out of the cheese and got nice and crispy in the oven. There was a good amount of cheese and toppings, and was piping hot when it got to me. But honestly, my favorite surprise of the meal was how good that damn dessert pizza was. If you look at their menu, they have like 10 different fruit pizzas to pick from. I assumed that they were all just pie fillings (which let's be honest, when I'm ordering pizza at 1am I'm completely okay with this). It was a layer of cherry pie filling, but then it was topped with pineapple chunks and icing. It smelled amazing, and tasted just as good. I will definitely order from Primo's again, even if it's just desserts. I think Primo's is a pretty good late night option. When you want a good, cheap, fast pizza, this is the place to go. I'm sorry I waited so long to add this to my delivery/take out rotation.

Small sausage and pep pizza ($10)

Pretty decent pizza for Carbondale. Nothing compared to Chicago if that's what you are hoping for but compared to everything else around here, it is the front runner. Ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and it was good. Really enjoyed it

Pizza is solid but their calzones is the thing to get here. Also enjoy their chicken, bacon, ranch subs.

I wish they had a tip jar at the pick up window, the guys working there deserve it, they rock. Good pizza though.

Raise a glass to the ghost of Pags…read more For the past 25 years, this was the place that we compared all other pizza to. As soon as you walked in the door, that heady smell of rising dough, fresh-made tomato sauce and baking cheese welcomed you like an old friend. As soon as we entered the parking lot and saw only one car there at 8:30 on a Friday night in a college town, we started to worry. I had seen in the reviews here that ownership had changed, but retained some small hope that the Pags we knew still existed. But no. There may have been a wisp of an aroma but we realized pretty quickly that it must have just been a ghost. Since we still had 7 hours on the road ahead of us, we had called our order in. The fact that the staff didn't understand what "dine in" meant for our order meant that both the person who took the order on the phone and the manager they consulted hadn't bothered to communicate to the rest of the staff. So our pizzas were boxed up and waiting when we got there - but not in anything that would keep them warm. The server plated them on pizza platters, but didn't bother warming them up, so they were barely above room temp when served. And the pizza itself? Boring. Pedestrian. Like any other pizza made with Sysco products. My "thin and crispy" was thinnish, but by no stretch of the imagination was it crispy. The savory, crunchy crust I remembered was replaced by an anemic 1/4 inch rim, no crunch. No flavor. SO and YO split a "thin and chewy," which had the weirdest edge I think I've seen. SO reports it "perfectly adequate;" everything that made Pags special was lacking. "Sure was pizza." The staff were nice. The floor by the counter was really sticky - to the point that I could both feel and hear my shoes sticking. That was gross. We were last here about 15 years ago, so I guess that will have to be the Pags we remember. This one is perfectly forgettable.
