But they disappointed me every single time! First, they treat you like they are doing you a favor. Not attitude from the stylist, just straight face, not talking to you ( barely a hello) while they go away from their station to hug their regular customers. I will just stand to my last appointment to give an example of bad service.. it took the stylist 4 hours to do a pin straight her style to my natural hair. No extensions. Given that this review is way overdue, I am not expecting a response nor a good reply from them. Just look at the other reviews and you will see what I am talking about

I even went into the salon in person to make the appointment and specifically pointed out a client whose hair was being styled with curls using a curling iron and asked if they could do something similar for me. The receptionist assured me that it would not be a problem. When I arrived today, the stylist, Elisabeth, was rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. She had a negative attitude throughout the interaction. After I took my ponytail down, she told me that because I have a lot of hair and because the appointment was apparently booked only as a "blowout" and not a "blowout + curls," she only had time to blow dry my hair and did not have time to curl/style it because she had back-to-back appointments scheduled afterward. Instead of trying to help find a solution, she blamed the person who booked the appointment. As the customer, that is not my responsibility -- especially when I booked well in advance and specifically discussed and pointed out the hairstyle I wanted in person beforehand. The entire experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and extremely frustrating. Now I'm left scrambling last minute trying to find another salon before my event tonight. Completely unacceptable customer service.

And because his hair was so long in the back, she double checked before cutting that I wanted to cut it off (much appreciated!). My son's hair was short on the top so she didn't cit length but did blend it (see pics). The place itself was clean and spacious. The cut itself was $45 without a wash, which is a couple dollars cheaper than other places I was looking up. I'd come here again.

Before the haircut, I clearly explained that I had just gotten my hair cut at another salon two…read moredays earlier and that I wasn't looking for a completely new haircut--I only wanted some adjustments to achieve the style shown in the photos of me before. I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

Loren is my hair fairy godmother. She is without a doubt the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. I started out with pitch black box dyed stringy, frizzy hair. It was awful and I didn't know what to do about it. Loren has taken it to a stunning strawberry blonde that I am thrilled with. She's really a color genius and picked a color for me that really brightened up my complexion and made my eye color pop! We've also done Brazillian Blowouts that have gotten rid of the frizzy-ness and stringy-ness and have really smoothed it all out and given it some body. I get compliments on my hair all of the time now and that never happened before I met Loren! Everything she's ever done is perfection. She's recommended products that I never would have known about. I have been coming to Loren for almost a year now and she is amazing! Before finding Loren, I had been to numerous stylists around the bay and never found anyone that knew how to care for my hair properly. I have VERY stubborn, thick hair that takes forever to process and blow dry, which means I am usually at the salon longer than most people. Loren actually listens to what I want and takes the time to make sure that I am always happy with the results. I recently had a Brazilian Blowout by Loren Sartain. What can I say? I am beyond ecstatic. I waited 6 years from my last one with someone else, forgetting what an amazing transformation it does on culry, frizzy hair. I reached out to Mola on day 8 to ask about coming in for another toner. Due to scheduling conflicts, I wasn't able to come back until December 23rd. A toner was applied, which I assumed would be complimentary given how quickly the brassiness appeared, but paid $177 including tip. Unfortunately, within a week the highlights were brassy again. I reached out on December 30th to let her know. She suggested it could be due to hard water, but I do not have hard water, and the brassiness started appearing before I ever washed my hair. After doing some research, I learned that if highlights are not lifted enough, brassy tones can return very quickly. I asked if some of the highlights could be corrected, as this was a big financial investment and I was very unhappy with the result. After that, she completely stopped responding to my emails. Being ghosted after spending nearly $900 total is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I expected better communication and accountability.

She was very flexible with times and willing to rearrange a few things when I mentioned it may be on her usual day off. When I arrived to her salon suite... I was very impressed by the clean and organized atmosphere, dark wood toned laminate floors, and little café nespresso machine all within her spacious work space. Even though I was a tad bit late, Alison, took her time and did a wonderful job on my hair! She is super down-to-earth, and for the first time in my life, I was probably more up into the hairdresser's business than she was into mine! LOL She's so mellow and sweet and knows exactly what she's doing when it comes to hair. I believe I've got a new favorite go-to spot for getting my lovely lady locks done! Thanks, Alison! :-)

My boyfriend started calling every salon in San Mateo with good reviews on yelp and left about 10 messages. Alissa called back within minutes. She dropped what she was doing to come in the morning of New Year's Eve to fix my hair! What I thought was not fixable looking amazing after she got done. She's extremely knowledgable and knows the chemistry and art behind hair coloring and correcting. She's detail oriented and takes time to make it perfect! Her salon is adorable and cozy. The color came out beautiful! And - she gave me a smokin deal since I had been through the mill and already paid through the nose to get my hair destroyed. Bottom line: I LOVE ALISSA! She's flexible, sweet and is an expert at what she does!
