The space itself was very clean and comfortable - we felt right at home! Breakfast was delicious and coffee was soooooo good too! Truly nothing like a home cooked meal. Their dog, Buddy, made a few appearances as well. :) All in all would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfortable stay in the area. The entire purpose for staying at a Bed & Breakfast is the experience. Any Inn or B&B, the owners open their establishment, makes you feel at home with a warm cup of coffee along with something freshly baked from their oven. When I checked in, I was told via text there is none of that because of the pandemic. We find that to be an excuse because we just left a B&B in Cold Spring that had everything! It's a bunch of nonsense, the owners could have baked and individually wrapped things. Just like the B&B in Cold Spring.... Oh wait, we were served a sit down breakfast. And coffee! What a concept. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm thinking I can get a few tips about the area. The door was locked so I rang the bell. I'm assuming its the owner who answered the door. I tell him I know I'm early, I'm looking for a few things to do locally. He said there is nothing here to show but I can send you a text? Ok.. The town of Rhinebeck is very cute, there are shops that are open while walking around. We had a glass of wine and some charcuterie while passing the time. Once it's 3pm, we were sent a text for the door code. Walking inside, The Gables Of Rhinebeck is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It also seems we are the only guests based on the parking lot out back. And the parking lot only has room for 3 cars? Our room is drop dead gorgeous. The bedding is adorned with a beautiful quilt. It's a suite so there is a nice sitting area. I walked downstairs to the empty parlor, grabbed two wine glasses and opened a bottle of wine that I brought from home. The bathroom, there was a lack of shelf space for our toiletries. Its a large space with a claw foot cast iron tub, very pretty. I had plans to sit outside after dinner and smoke a cigar. The lights weren't on, there is no one to ask and at that point, I really didn't care. I'm ready to leave and that is just a shame. It's not the feeling you want your guests to have when they leave. Do you agree? I asked about breakfast the next day in a text. Coffee? Oatmeal? Anything? Nothing I'm told in a text. The restaurant next door opens at 8am. Mention we're guests at The Gables Of Rhinebeck and well receive 20% off our bill. The restaurant at 8:50am was closed. At this point we jump in the car and leave. While I'm sitting down in another town, I text them saying the restaurant wasn't open at 8 or 8:30. They text back: OMG there is Bread Alone and so many other restaurants in the area that we could have chose. Overall, this was a sucky stay and I'm glad it was just for one night. They charged a premium price for the Bed but not the Breakfast?! And they weren't hospitable! Yeah OMG.

Airbnb screwed up! It was 6pm at night when I called Beth Pagano. She still was a week away from opening due to Covid but she gave me one of her nicest rooms. I was so grateful and she is an excellent host. If anyone is looking for accommodations in the mid Hudson valley, the Grand Dutchess is perfect. My room was beautiful, clean and welcoming. You can walk into town for a coffee or dinner. Location is perfect. I can't wait for my next visit.

Bed but no breakfast…read more We stayed in colonial Kingston for a conference and planned on staying for 3 nights, however we soon realized how terrible a host Bel, the innkeeper was. Upon arrival Bel assumed we drove to Kingston. I'm not sure why this assumption was made as there is a train station in the neighboring town which takes you directly to Manhattan. Rather than giving us the room we agreed upon via telephone, she put us in a creepy room not attached to the same building: actually it which was several blocks away from the main inn. Because we had no car, she squeezed us into her filthy pick-up truck and dropped us off and rushed out. No mention of what time and where breakfast was served. We were not provided any breakfast the morning after our first night's stay and she did not answer her phone around 7:00 a.m. when we wondered about this. This was confusing as the inn is marketed as a "Bed and Breakfast". We found our own breakfast and went on with our day. When we returned to our room in the evening, our room was not made. It was shocking as this is standard practice among the hotel industry regardless of whether you stay at a lower end BnB or at a high-end hotel. By then we were disgusted at how unprofessional she was and thus we told her we would only stay 2 nights (over 24 hours notice). By the second morning we called her inquiring about breakfast a second time. She simply replied by saying "well I can feed you if you want". How unprofessional and unwelcoming. Why run an inn if you do not want to welcome your guests? Although we gave her over 24 hours notice of our departure (again, the standard in the hotel industry) Bel still unjustly charged us for the third unused night. She also failed to give us our receipt, and we had to ask her 5 times for it. Only 3 days post-departure did we receive the receipt. After reviewing my banking, she had actually already charged the room prior to check-in. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

My room had a king poster board bed and one of the comfiest mattresses I've ever slept on. I can't say more good things about this place. But if you want a nice place to hang your hat, where you make a friend in the end Bels inn is where it's at. Excellent service, she's knowledgable about the town and places to go. The…read moreinn was clearly a motel in a previous life, as it had that lengthy structure with outdoor entrances to each room. The parking lot was gravel-based, so vehicles were parked a bit haphazardly, but the lot's spaciousness ensured that it was not really an issue. The hotel was right on the stream with a lovely grassy area dotted with Adirondack chairs, hammocks, and other ways to enjoy the view. The office was located right next to that little park and was also where the continental buffet breakfast was served. The small room had a great view of the water from its few tables. The breakfast options included various hot beverages, several types of milk, yogurt, berries, granola, pastries, breads, hard-boiled eggs, lox, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. It was really the perfect few bites to start the day with energy and wellness. While the inn had a few larger cabins, many of the rooms were supposedly rather tiny, including ours. The room had a queen-sized bed, nightstand, wall-mounted television, and wooden desk with matching chair. There was a closet with some hanging and shelving space, as well as a hair dryer and coffeemaker. The room really left a lot to be desired from a space perspective, as it was hard to navigate. For instance, the room might have come with 2 luggage racks, but there was really only space for one. The bathroom was also tiny, and it was near impossible to use the toilet without sideswiping the pedestal sink on your way. The shower was a decent size at least. The bathroom came with fluffy towels and Aveda products, which were both appreciated. We also loved that the temperature and pressure of the water were phenomenal; in fact, the shower was like a fire hose! Though the room was small, it was SPOTLESS! Also, its individual heater packed a great deal of warmth. There was not an abundance of electrical outlets, but the alarm clock had one built in, as well as two USB ports. The extremely gracious staff had also left a binder of local recommendations for us on the table. The bed, however, was lumpy, and the pillows were cheap and uncomfortable. From a location standpoint, the inn was only a few blocks from either end of town, depending on which way you wanted to travel. The residential roads were very dark at night and many did not have sidewalks, so we definitely needed to be alert walking to and from the main drag, even though we knew the town was overly safe. The Woodstock Inn on the Millstream made up for its lack of amenities and small rooms with efficient, friendly service and clear dedication to guest satisfaction.

Their Continental breakfast is above reproach. Every day they make a fresh new breakfast pastry today's is chocolate chip, pumpkin and it was delicious highly recommended especially if you have a pet.
