Bed but no breakfast. We stayed in colonial Kingston for a conference and planned on staying for 3 nights, however we soon realized how terrible a host Bel, the innkeeper was. Upon arrival Bel assumed we drove to Kingston. I'm not sure why this assumption was made as there is a train station in the neighboring town which takes you directly to Manhattan. Rather than giving us the room we agreed upon via telephone, she put us in a creepy room not attached to the same building: actually it which was several blocks away from the main inn. Because we had no car, she squeezed us into her filthy pick-up truck and dropped us off and rushed out. No mention of what time and where breakfast was served. We were not provided any breakfast the morning after our first night's stay and she did not answer her phone around 7:00 a.m. when we wondered about this. This was confusing as the inn is marketed as a "Bed and Breakfast". We found our own breakfast and went on with our day. When we returned to our room in the evening, our room was not made. It was shocking as this is standard practice among the hotel industry regardless of whether you stay at a lower end BnB or at a high-end hotel. By then we were disgusted at how unprofessional she was and thus we told her we would only stay 2 nights (over 24 hours notice). By the second morning we called her inquiring about breakfast a second time. She simply replied by saying "well I can feed you if you want". How unprofessional and unwelcoming. Why run an inn if you do not want to welcome your guests? Although we gave her over 24 hours notice of our departure (again, the standard in the hotel industry) Bel still unjustly charged us for the third unused night. She also failed to give us our receipt, and we had to ask her 5 times for it. Only 3 days post-departure did we receive the receipt. After reviewing my banking, she had actually already charged the room prior to check-in. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful and the hostess Bel, is just an absolute joy and goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and have a lovely time. Felt like a long lost friend I've had for years. Great, kind, gentle, beautiful soul the owner of the house is. Coming from Boston, I arrived to this beautiful Victorian with a huge lovely porch which is very tastefully decorated. The whole house is clean, smells amazing great decor, and Bel cooks one of the loveliest breakfasts. Omelette, coffee, juice, and granola/fruit/yogurt, turkey bacon. A++++ hostess! My room had a king poster board bed and one of the comfiest mattresses I've ever slept on. I can't say more good things about this place. But if you want a nice place to hang your hat, where you make a friend in the end Bels inn is where it's at. Excellent service, she's knowledgable about the town and places to go. It's the perfect getaway to de-stress and unwind meet amazing people and enjoy life, what was exactly what I needed. The prices are very reasonable and worth every penny! I'll be back very soon! Had a wonderful stay at Bel's Inn on a recent trip to Kingston. The property is very charming and beautifully decorated with a big front porch, and it is walking distance to all the restaurants and activities along the riverfront. The rooms were very comfortable and we really enjoyed the breakfast too... an omelette and granola with yogurt and sauteed bananas. The owner, Bel, is a very talented hospitality natural who really makes her guests feel at home. She even won first prize at a recent chili cookoff! Highly recommended. read more

Initially I had very nice interactions with Bel. She was friendly and seemed very hospitable. And then..... This is a review of her AirBNB establishment/listing for the cottage, which is pictured here and my experience with that. What was initially pleasant, turned into a VERY unprofessional, mean spirited experience with her. She accused me of not telling her of the second person who was on the reservation until after the reservation was made and paid for (when CLEARLY the other guest who was on the reservation to BEGIN with, received confirmation of the reservation through AirBNB ). So she lied. She was looking for a reason to cancel. I had asked if it would be ok if my son( who lives 4 hours away) pitched a tent he had just bought for a night or 2 ( I was staying for 7), as I did not want to do anything without asking, out of respect for her and her establishment, and was FINE if she was not ok with it. I told her, however she answered my request (which she never addressed), NOTHING had changed with my reservation. I REPEATEDLY said I did NOT want to cancel to her as I was very much looking forward to staying. Within minutes of saying she would provide an air mattress and bedding, and telling me there was laundry facilities with soap for me to use, she said the mattress was "broken". Her next message was she told ME to cancel. (By doing so I would have had to pay 50% of the stay and the fees to airbnb!!) It was as if I was dealing with a totally different person! I did not want to cancel and was NOT going to and reached out to AirBNB for assistance! Then, the next day, 7 days before I was to check in, SHE canceled my reservation, which left me scrambling, due to the holiday, to find accommodations. I find her actions UNPROFESSIONAL, INHOSPITABLE, UNETHICAL, and MEAN SPIRITED. I do not conduct business that way! I have a service dog (upon my inquiry through AirBNB, she originally said, "we love service dogs" and sent me an invitation to book ) and I question whether my dog has something to do with the cancellation. I will never know. Through text she said "if I were you I would look both ways before you declare false accusations and slander" - MOST unprofessional! A under-handed threat? When I asked why she canceled, she never responded. What started out as excitement for me ended up with great stress instead, spending an entire day trying to find new accommodations. EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience. read more

It's the home you've always wanted. Old world charm, comfy, and tastefully decorated. Delicious full breakfast, fresh squeezed oj, great smelling linens, quiet, and a hop skip & jump away from the charming riverfront. Bel is beyond accommodating, gracious, and knowledgable about Kingston and Woodstock. She's so cool and friendly she even took me to a block party happening down the street from her She has created a truly magical oasis and I cannot wait to return or give a gift certificate to my mom for the wkend. read more

Such a sweet, romantic place. My husband and I came up from the city looking for a weekend getaway and Bel's did not disappoint. The B&B is a lovely old Victorian home, updated, nicely appointed. Relaxing. Most comfortable bed ever. Bel is a beautiful, kind and gracious hostess. Super friendly and helpful, but never intrusive. Unlike many B&B's we had a sense of privacy, which was most welcome. Beautiful place, beautiful room. Quiet, comfortable. Front porch with rocking chairs to while away the afternoon. I fantasized that I lived there! So much to do in Kingston within walking distance. The waterfront area is a delightful destination with excellent restaurants, shops and museums. Bel told us there is a free water taxi across the Hudson to Kingston should you decide to arrive by train at Rhinebeck (we drove, but next time, maybe we'll ditch the car altogether!). Delicious, fresh, full breakfasts made by Bel herself. Do not hesitate to book here, you will be so happy you did! read more
