We had a wonderful experience at Beekman Arms Inn. As it's the oldest continually running Inn in America, the architecture and decor were lovely, antiquated, venerable. The food was delicious, and our waiter, Phil, was so warm and accommodating. And it was fun to hear the history of the Inn and meet some of the patrons. We were so happy that we stopped at this lovely spot on our journey to Niagara Falls. read more

We stayed here last minute on our way to Catskills. Glad to get a king bed room. Check in was friendly however very confusing to find the building the room was in. We drove around awhile and eventually went back to check in and she walked us over. Love the historic aspect of the hotel. Also loved the complimentary NY sherry in the room. I wanted to shower right away and we had no hot water. That was frustrating. They ended up moving us to another building (again on a hunt), in a king 2 bedroom suite. She boasted how much money that was and they weren't going to charge us. But we were glad to get a room w hot water. When we got there, honestly, I would never pay that much for that suite. The layout was kind of awkward, and just too big for us. Plus we had a hard time shutting the door. It's old but needs a better mechanism. We liked the first room better. The toilet was way too low on the ground. The bed as far as comfort was meh. The compliment breakfast was sub par. I've had better at a motel, one I recently stayed at too. The location is great though. Check out was ok, the person behind the desk didn't know how to smile. Maybe he was new but zero personality. We had dinner before arriving so I can't comment on their Tavern food. I think it would be nice to have someone give some info about the hotel when u get there. read more

Great location in town. Park and walk to all. Really nice restaurants around. Bia was great. Le petit bistro looks good. We really liked cafe con leche a Puerto Rican spot. Also nice shops to roam in and out of. Samuels is a fun sweet shop. About the inn. Very welcomed by Ryan at the front desk. Informative and friendly. We stayed in room 22 a queen large room. Simply done and spacious. Nice bathroom. Nothing fancy just plain fine. A little decanted of sherry, plenty of towels and shampoo etc...comfy bed. When room is made up by the cleaning staff, it is done so well. All towels replaced, bed is made beautifully, shampoo replenished, coffee packs replenished. Room vacuumed. Great cleaning service. Only drawback is that you can hear everything in the lobby and outside the front door. Music from the bar too. Not loud but noticeable. Not a drawback but since the place is old it's super creaky. The floor boards are in rare form and we sounded like a herd of elephants. lol. Parking is great! Worth the stay. read more

We planned a visit to Rhinebeck and needed a place to stay and found Beekman Arms. The hotel has multiple buildings, some old some new. We stayed in the Delamater house. The house was built in the 1800's this was evident by the squeaky floors. The check in and breakfast were both in different buildings then the one we stayed in. The room was large, had a comfortable king size bed and cable tv. The bathroom had good water pressure but was tiny and the toilet was a child sized toilet small and low to the ground. The room had a ceiling fan but no AC to adjust the room temperature so it was pretty hot at night. Breakfast was typically continental breakfast with cereal, fruit, bagels, hard boiled eggs juice and coffee. The location is perfect and the town is walkable with many restaurants to choose from within walking distance. I would recommend calling the hotel to see if they offer rooms with adjustable AC if you are staying in warmer months. read more

We were here from Boston to visit a friend in Rhinebeck and decided to do lunch here. The food was good and the service even better. Our server Laura was spot on and took very good care of us. The only down side regarding the food was the turkey pot pie needed more turkey in it and the biscuit that sat on top needed to be not so hard.. my Turkey Reuben was wonderful, as was the Turkey cobbler sandwich. We shared a calamari which we all enjoyed. All in all a solid 4 stars! Would love to come for dinner when we return. The restaurant itself was quite lovely and the atmosphere warm and inviting. Lots and lots to see from olden days which we also enjoyed. The bar filled up and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as we were leaving. Had a girls trip decided to stay here. We got the only room available for three people to stay in. It was not in the house but a ways away and upstairs from where breakfast is served. The steps were a bit steep. But doable for us. I stayed in the only bedroom. Which was cutely decorated and had its own ac and tv it faced the street but wasn't noisy but could be bright. I hate to pull curtains (an eye mask did the trick). The bathroom was adequate the water pressure and temp were great. The living room had a pullout couch the mattress should be changed it sloped towards the head so it wasn't so comfortable the other bed was old and rickety. The tv worked when it wanted to. But I'm a big girl and I was afraid to sit in any of the chairs. They could've put twin beds on opposite sides of the room and still would've had room for a couch. It was hard to sit in the living room w the couch as a bed. The kitchen was old looking and the coffee maker would not work we had them look at it twice and they couldn't figure it out. They also had to come for the tv too. I was afraid to sit at the kitchen table because I thought the chairs did not look strong enough. The room definitely needs an up grade. Breakfast was ok lots of bread items no real proteins. I don't drink coffee but friends said it was ok. It very close to downtown so it was nice to walk to town and have a bite. Front desk was somewhat helpful but we had to call three times to get someone to come to our room for the tv and coffee pot. It cost us $700+ for two nights not sure if it was worth that. Gratefully I have a high status on booking so that saved us about $150. Don't think I'd book here again. read more

Went with friends who live in Rhinebeck for the Sunday brunch buffet and was impressed. The building itself was worth the visit steeped in well kept history. Options for seating varied between beautiful heavy oak rooms with high backed booths to bright, greenery laden seating in the glass encased patio. The buffet has bottomless help yourself champagne drinks with juices, fruit etc. there was an omelette station, salads, meats, waffles, eggs Benedict, and even a turkey carving station. The desserts were all ace (we tried almost everything) and service was quite attentive and friendly! All conveniently located in cute downtown area- parking was a breeze. My partner wanted to treat me for my birthday, so we came here. This is an amazing colonial Tavern that has been here since 1766. It has a very nice atmosphere. The tavern room, the main restaurant, are nice, but we ate in the room with the fireplace. And we had the room all to ourselves. We each started with the soup of the day. It was delicious. For our main course, my partner had the chicken in Brandy sauce, and I had the Dutch pot pie. My partner loved her chicken, she said it was tinder and very rich. My Dish, was basically a deconstructed pot pie, with tender turkey and a wonderful cream gravy with vegetables ,and a giant cheddar bay biscuit, right in the middle. The biscuit was warm, tender and delicious. For dessert, we each had a slice of the delectable, red velvet cake, and because it was my birthday, they even put a candle in it for me. The waiter jokingly said that he would've sung happy birthday to me, but we really didn't want to hear him sing... LOL The service was wonderful, and for all we got, the price was very reasonable. Stopped in after work for some snacks and drinks to celebrate the holidays. I split a bottle of Rioja wine and it was delicious. It was a nice blend and I would definitely order it again. Someone in our party ordered Mother's Milk beer and it took forever for it to be served but they were happy as it's a favorite. We tried the French onion soup and the truffle fries. The fries were amazing but the soup was ok. The soup was not anything to write home about. We had fun and our waitress was nice. We were really wanting to sit in front of a fire but I don't think they're doing that anymore due to the recent fires. The building is super old and the first inn in America. Everything you could want in a small town in. This place has been around forever for a reason. I did not stay in the main house, I stayed next-door, room was very clean and comfortable. Much larger than I anticipated. That said, the in itself is full of charm. my lovely companion and I spent some time sitting in the lobby next to the fireplace, which was wonderful on a snowy day. I also spent some time in the library that had an interesting selection of books (I wish I had time to read more of "mutiny on the bounty"). The staff was friendly, and keep in mind this is a small in. When the sign on the desk says "back in five minutes," it might be more like 15 minutes... Set your large city expectations aside, relax, pretend you are in a Hallmark movie. the location in town is also great as it really is in the center of things (not that there is much more than the center), but all of Rhinebeck is easily accessible from this location. Prices were as expected for a boutique of this provenance, and I'm already looking for the next time I can stay here. Make sure to eat at the tavern, or at least get a nice drink or Mocktail at the bar. read more

The town of Rhinebeck just oozes fun weekend getaway; lots of restaurants and galleries, nearby historical sites, outdoor activities, etc. The Beekman Arms has a lovely central location and a beautiful old historical main building, but the place is in need of some serious TLC to be worthy of the $400+ price point. There is a difference between "ye olde" charm and shabby, the Beekman Arms, which has rooms spread across several buildings, has crossed that line, at least in the rooms we had. The main building itself is pretty fantastic, we didn't see the accommodations in this building, but the lobby and tavern were very charming, creaky floors and all. We had rooms in the Courtyard behind the Delamater House. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable and nicely styled, and there is a gas fire place. Nice. The rest of the furnishings and décor look like a mix of your grandparents leftover furniture and Unclaimed Freight finds. The couch in both rooms was very sketchy and seemed to be a bargain find that looked out of place. The rooms had one tiny rug over laminate floors and the curtains barely covered the windows (and were coming loose from the tracks). The overall effect was that everything, except the bed, was too small for the room. For the price, I would expect a well, decorated cozy room. Other major problems were the bathrooms that haven't seen an upgrade since the 1970s and the Courtyard buildings are pretty musty. We did have a dehumidifier in one of the rooms, a plus, the noise all night, not so much. One other strike, the Tavern, where we were looking forward to meeting up with friends, was closed on the Saturday evening we stayed at the Inn for a private party, so hotel guests had to go elsewhere. I would give the Beekman Arms another shot to see if the rooms in the main or other outbuildings live up to the hype and are worth the price. read more

My son and I booked the Christmas Buffet on Christmas day fora 3:45 reservation (time determined by reservation staff and had waited 5 days for a call back to make the reservation.)After driving 2 hours to reach our destination, we checked into our airbnb and headed straight for dinner. Only to find a sign on the door " the Inn is closed due to a broken pipe in our kitchen". No phone call to alert us even though they had both our cell phone #s and had called both of us to make the reservation. Since we were from out of town and staying at an airbnb, we obviously did not have any food supplies with us. We had to search on our phones for someplace open, drove 1/2 hour to a chinese restaurant and paid for inedible food. No one has returned our phone message about this situation or even to apologize. read more

We needed a place to stay overnight near Red Hook and Beekman Arms was recommended to us. Unfortunately we arrived there after midnight so did not take advantage of any of the amenities in what is probably a quaint spot. Breakfast the next morning was extremely disappointing with paper plates and plastic utensils. Not what we expected at all. Our room was rudimentary but comfortable especially since this was an extremely cold night. If we need a place to stay the night again we would do it again, but I would not recommend this establishment if you're looking for an experience. read more

What a fabulous place! We both had the turkey pot pie which was absolutely heavenly. It was served in a bowl with large pieces of turkey and a creamy white sauce that had plenty of veggies. On top was a very large cheese biscuit. Neither of us finished it. We also ordered the loaded homemade potato chips served with sour cream. There was a large portion of these that I was delighted to be able to take home to enjoy later. The atmosphere was incredible. You had your choice of many rooms to dine. Had a very nice lunch at Beekman arms today. They have a huge menu. We opted for a burger and a BLT. Their fries are very good. They were pretty busy... it took a while to get a table. However, once we were seated, we got our food quickly. Our server, Zach, was very nice and efficient. I plan to go back soon. We ate outside, most people are familiar with the interior of the Beekman arms, and that is worth a visit all on its own. read more

We stayed in the Firehouse Suite with the king sized bed. The room is located above the Rain Spa on Market street so we constantly heard their music starting at 8am. You have to enter via the parking lot and it's a flight of wooden stairs outside. The suite was spacious but the shower-head definitely needs to be replaced in the bathroom. For the price I'd probably stay someplace more upscale. Definitely a nice location with access to all the shops and restaurants read more

Very disappointing food, sloppy service. A pot pie delivered swimming in so much sauce it looked like soup. Lying atop its large biscuit was a huge serving spoon. I requested a tablespoon (and was brought a small soup spoon). A fork would have been inadequate. My companion's salmon salad turned out to be greens with some tiny specks of overcooked salmon. Coffee was delivered overflowing into double napkins atop a pool of coffee on the saucer. I requested a replacement. Flies plagued us the entire meal. An awful, and expensive, lunch. we attended a brunch buffet at Beekman arms. $40 per person and all they offered was some dried out chicken fingers and two kinds of fish there were eggs, Benedict that were cold and dried out. It was terrible. It was a miserable offering for $40 and it was in hot plates were unattended and I would not recommend ever going there and it's a disgrace to make such a poor show of a meal at such a beautiful place. Fancy dining areas yet some rooms are casual. Food is hit or miss - usually a hit. The menu used to change often and since I haven't been back in a while, I'm not sure. We used to go frequently because we lived half a mile from "The Beek." Back in the day (lol) they had an enormous Sunday brunch which we frequented, always with our three young children. We've moved out of the area and have been to many other "historic" dining establishments, but none compare to the old time charm as this one. Definitely a nice glimpse into the past. The building gives the colonial feel with its wood plank (creaky) floors, low tavern ceilings and history of pre-revolutionary times. We went to eat there as a novelty for this historical site. I see some negative reviews posted mostly because of service. Our party experienced a longer than normal wait just to get a server to come over to take our order after we were seated. We had to ask random employees walking by a few times to get us a waiter. But, aside from service, we enjoyed the food. I thought their French Onion soup was one of the best I ever had. Everyone else in our party loved their dishes too. Our waitress was nice and accommodating. The host could have been a bit more cheerful when seating us. Still worth the wait and a nice view into the past. read more

We stayed in the Delamater House which is two blocks from the Beekman. Check-in is at the Beekman and then you walk or drive over to the House. The House is set on a campus with other accommodations and is probably about 150 years old. We stayed in a room upstairs. There is a downstairs sitting area which is nicely furnished and renovated. Our room clearly had last been updated over 40 years ago, with a "boob" light on the ceiling, a cracked sink, worn woodwork and a stained carpet. The highlight was a sign over the window which stated "emergency exit," an exit onto a sloped roof. In any case, the window wouldn't open, but I suppose in an emergency, you could smash the window and go flying off the roof. Rhinebeck is a very nice town and hotel is centrally located and in walking distance of everything. The breakfast, which was included, is the sort of breakfast you get at the cookie-cutter hotels along Route 95 to Florida, completely undistinguished. I thought the price at $300, including taxes, seemed a bit high, but maybe I was paying for the location. read more

We enjoyed a lovely stay @ The Beekman Arms - every minute from the moment we arrived! Easy to park in the rear lot near a fabulous Antiques Center. We entered the lobby, greeted by Christina @ the Front Desk, right on time for our lunch reservation where the wait staff provided excellent service. We took a walk thru the charming village, did a little shopping @ Oblong bookstore and Hammertown Home Furnishings. We stopped for a casual dinner at Fosters where they offered hearty, homemade menu choices, and desserts, and then relaxed back at the Inn to sit by the fireplace, so comfortable. This morning, the breakfast & service at the Delamater was more than we expected - a perfect way to end a 'sister's' get-away. The beds / mattress here are horrible and cause incredible pain. The mattresses of very low quality, very hard, springs are felt when you turn and sleep on your side. I tossed and turned all night. I woke up in pain in the middle of the night. The next morning I barely could move my back. And was in pain for two days. They need to be replaced. I woke up stressed out because I didn't get any sleep and was exhausted the next day: I was also placed in a back building in a parking lot in room 42 that was a motel style and it was not attached to the Inn. It was pretty run down. And musty. Laminate floors made of a cheap material to look like wood. This stand alone building is bizarre and I do not recommend anyone stay in it. Also, when we went to get coffee the next morning in the lobby of the inn, the woman working the desk never once said hello to us or good morning. She stood there in silence behind the desk. Rhinebeck is a beautiful town, and I think this in his writing on the coattails of his reputation and that's why it gets booked, however the whole place needs to be renovated, while keeping the history and charm. read more

Only one was bad enough to send back, which was the prime rib - couldn't even cut through with the knife and was completely cold. We had a great stay at Beekman-Arms in part thanks to the concierge, Ryan, whose customer service was superb. We were initially in a first floor oom in one of the Delamater Inn buildings and the ceiling had very little soundproofing so we could hear everything above us. Ryan found us a second floor room and was incredibly kind about it all. That room was perfect, quiet, beautiful. The continental breakfasts were very satisfying, and we had good meals at the tavern. We were in the main hotel on the second floor. The beds are so creaky as well again not good. Heat omg the heat is controlled for the whole hotel not a fan of that. Room air conditioners that are so old. Do not stay in the summer. In the fall and winter manageable but not awesome. 3. location is awesome to tour Hudson Valley and Rhinebeck. 4. Restaurant within the hotel was excellent and we had great service. 5. Parking - they were paving our whole stay so we had to park a few blocks away, not a fan of that at all. read more

Spent the weekend and "upgraded" to a king room (#46). This room is separate from the hotel proper, and is accessed by a flight of stairs via either parking lot or street front stairs. It is over a spa/salon, which allowed us to hear their thumping music when they opened, and their parties held after hours. The room itself, while spacious, was in a sad state. Torn wallpaper, windows that leaked cold air (and it was 16 deg. F), blinds that didn't work, and furniture from the 60s, a large closet with 5 whole hangers. The TV was the size of a computer monitor, while modern upgrades like more plugs, adapters for USB plugins, etc., were not available. The stairwell going to the street (10-12 steps), did not have a railing, which I consider unsafe (it meets code?). The doors had cheap locks that look to be easily defeated. The bathroom setup was strange: tub/shower with toilet and sink on one side, with a sink and long vanity on an opposite wall on the other side of the room. There is a step-down from the toilet area, so if you're not careful, you could end up going over the railing of the steps. We experienced life over a span/salon. In the mornings we heard their incessant thumping music, while at night (after hours), we heard their loud partying. This room comes with a reserved parking spot, which was often occupied by other cars, and to sum it up, the front desk staff didn't offer one apology for any of this! "We can't do anything about the cars" (oh no? How about at least a parking cone or a sign threatening towing!). "We don't own the salon" (ok, but how about contacting them and letting them know some folks have complained!). We were charged $350/night. Maybe that's normal for the area, but I would have expected that some money was spent on the rooms, and training staff. read more

Our party was in three buildings and everyone was happy. They are one of two hotels in the immediate area but treat you like they have to earn it every day. We stayed at Beekman 11/18. Which was our anniversary. Very disappointed. First room had a very musty smell in hallway leading up to 2nd floor room. I have asthma. I inquired at the front desk about changing the room. Was told 'You never told us about your allergies'. If it's musty it's mold. Manager changed the room. Second room tv didn't work. My husband had to work at it to make it work. But in the morning it stopped working. I attempted to take a shower but couldn't figure out the instructions on the wall to get the shower to work. Contacted front desk and I received a laugh from clerk. Not a 'we'll get maintenance over to help you. I just gave up. We will not be going back to this place again. read more

We stopped in for a few local beers around lunch. The inn is dark and cozy and makes you feel a part of its long history. We did not have lunch, but our bar companion had a wonderful looking BLT and fries. As the kitchen sources chefs from the nearby Culinary Institute of American, we were told that some of the chefs are better than others. Looks like this one is one of the good ones. If you don't want a meal, at least stop by to drink in some history...see what I did there? read more
