Airbnb screwed up! It was 6pm at night when I called Beth Pagano. She still was a week away from opening due to Covid but she gave me one of her nicest rooms. I was so grateful and she is an excellent host. If anyone is looking for accommodations in the mid Hudson valley, the Grand Dutchess is perfect. My room was beautiful, clean and welcoming. You can walk into town for a coffee or dinner. Location is perfect. I can't wait for my next visit.

Bed but no breakfast…read more We stayed in colonial Kingston for a conference and planned on staying for 3 nights, however we soon realized how terrible a host Bel, the innkeeper was. Upon arrival Bel assumed we drove to Kingston. I'm not sure why this assumption was made as there is a train station in the neighboring town which takes you directly to Manhattan. Rather than giving us the room we agreed upon via telephone, she put us in a creepy room not attached to the same building: actually it which was several blocks away from the main inn. Because we had no car, she squeezed us into her filthy pick-up truck and dropped us off and rushed out. No mention of what time and where breakfast was served. We were not provided any breakfast the morning after our first night's stay and she did not answer her phone around 7:00 a.m. when we wondered about this. This was confusing as the inn is marketed as a "Bed and Breakfast". We found our own breakfast and went on with our day. When we returned to our room in the evening, our room was not made. It was shocking as this is standard practice among the hotel industry regardless of whether you stay at a lower end BnB or at a high-end hotel. By then we were disgusted at how unprofessional she was and thus we told her we would only stay 2 nights (over 24 hours notice). By the second morning we called her inquiring about breakfast a second time. She simply replied by saying "well I can feed you if you want". How unprofessional and unwelcoming. Why run an inn if you do not want to welcome your guests? Although we gave her over 24 hours notice of our departure (again, the standard in the hotel industry) Bel still unjustly charged us for the third unused night. She also failed to give us our receipt, and we had to ask her 5 times for it. Only 3 days post-departure did we receive the receipt. After reviewing my banking, she had actually already charged the room prior to check-in. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

Coming from Boston, I arrived to this beautiful Victorian with a huge lovely porch which is very tastefully decorated. The whole house is clean, smells amazing great decor, and Bel cooks one of the loveliest breakfasts. Omelette, coffee, juice, and granola/fruit/yogurt, turkey bacon. A++++ hostess! My room had a king poster board bed and one of the comfiest mattresses I've ever slept on. I can't say more good things about this place. But if you want a nice place to hang your hat, where you make a friend in the end Bels inn is where it's at. Excellent service, she's knowledgable about the town and places to go. After staying at the church des artistes, I know where to refer people to stay. The building is beautiful and filled with character and charm. Make sure to reserve a room on the first floor if it's important to you that you have easy access to the bathroom. We stayed in the Library Room, which has its own en suite bathroom and a canopy bed with a beautiful lace curtain. The room was spotlessly clean. Right next door there is the "great hall" with a huge dinner table which would be great if you're looking to host a group - a fireplace, comfortable armchairs, and a chess set. The hosts were immediately available when we needed them but were not intrusive into our stay at all; it felt private, which is just what we were looking for. I didn't have a chance to try their breakfast but it sounded amazing. Another benefit of the library room is that the breakfast tea & coffee are placed right across the hall from your door in the morning! perfect for putting on one of the fluffy robes and grabbing a cup of coffee to bring back to the room. I accidentally left some personal items in the room. The hosts contacted ME to let me know they had found them and agreed to mail them to me!

Each room has a nice card stating coffee and tea served in the morning but on 2 of the 3 mornings nothing was available. During our 3 day stay, there was someone on the premises for about 30 minutes. Absolutely, NO STAFF. You could order a breakfast for a $15. charge but no one was there to order from...very disappointing.

My wife and I (both early 30s) went back the Fall to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Typically, we are not bed and breakfast style people. We like our own space and don't love staying with and around strangers in an intimate setting. But after looking at some of the reviews and pictures, we decided to give it a shot. Amanda and Joe are two of the nicest, warm, fun and amazing people we have ever met. From the minute that we arrived, we felt like we just got to the home of a long-time, great friend and not a hotel/B&B. The main house where you stay is decorated incredibly well and so clean it was like we were the first people to stay there. You can tell that Amanda put in a ton of time, thought and effort in to the decorating. Everything was perfectly chosen; from the furniture to the pottery to the art to the lighting, it all came together so well. The guest rooms are SO nice and cozy. We couldn't get over the amount of thought that Amanda put in to the design and the little details. The bed is extremely comfortable, the room is ridiculously (in a good way) clean, and it just has such a nice at home, cozy feel to it that makes you never want to leave. One of the most important things to us when choosing somewhere to stay is the food. We can confidently say, that the food Joe prepared was some of the best food we have ever had. We love local, farm to table, fresh, simple but elevated style cooking and Joe is a wizard in the kitchen. The meals that he put together for breakfast were delicious. We also loved how they were pretty healthy as well and not overly indulgent, but did have a few things that were just indulgent enough without being over the top. We also opted to do the dinner at their home on Saturday night. There are some pretty great restaurants in the area, but I would recommend opting for the dinner at their house. It's a really enjoyable experience and you feel like you're out at a friends house for dinner (also you can just walk to it from the Villa, so no need to worry about a DD). The Villa is also in a really nice location where you aren't too far from towns or outdoor activities. Everything is a drive, so you can't walk, but it's not too far and the area is so pretty you won't mind driving around. There are probably countless other things I am missing right now, but all in all, 10/10 would recommend. If you appreciate great food, amazing service, a luxurious style of comfort that isn't over the top plus meeting new people, you won't be disappointed. The worst part about the whole trip was having to leave. We can't wait for our next trip up there.

(Which they never actually did.) The only bright spot were the linens, which were actually quite nice. More than all that, the owners are unavailable and really (really - believe the other reviews) don't care. They are not reachable and Chef Marc is very nice but can't do anything for you. We had to leave, not because it was hell to be there, but because of a sudden family medical emergency, and they refused to even refund us down to their 3-night minimum. We had paid in advance for 8 nights - and just the previous day, so it wasn't like anyone else would have booked it. We understood that they would want their minimum stay and cleaning fee. But they didn't refund us one penny. They are really unfeeling, uncaring people. Avoid this place!!!

When traveling with my pup I need to have a bit more ability to stay in the room for food and things so I don't leave him alone long. The space was designed beautifully to match the natural surroundings. I felt like I was in nature when I was staying there. There was a skylight above the lofted bed (which you could open the window with and also draw a sun-blocking shade) and windows you could open on the ground level to hear the brook at night. There is a sweet front porch just outside your door where you can sit outside and have coffee or cocktails. The yard outside the BnB is lush with plants, flowers, and trees. The area is very quiet as well. This was such a chill and wonderful place to stay.

We were booked for the Silvenails Suite located on the first floor with a queen sized bed, fridge and its own private entrance leading to a small patio overlooking the large green backyard. The room was truly nice. One point I always emphasize for the establishment I stay overnight is the air quality. The room smelled great, and there were no unpleasant carpet smells or residual scents. There was also a dining area where we met some amazing people. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the full breakfast. We were only able to partake in some coffee and pastries and headed for the day. I also had to mention the sound of the crickets at night. It was amazing to hear the sounds of the night as a result I had an amazing night's rest.
