    Kids welcomed at Prince Bonaparte!

What's not to like about Prince Bonaparte? I mean of course the charming gastro pub in Notting Hill and not the dictator. But I am sure if the Emperor ate here he would have been more sociable and less murderous. We tried to go to another gastro pub in the area that we heard had great fish but they have a no kid policy after 18:00. They recommended Prince Bonaparte and we were very glad they did. Thank you Cow! Super friendly staff and every dish was something we'd come back for. I'd like to try everything on the menu now. Just a solid dining experience

Tagged this spot as the most convenient for a group of us Yanks visiting London, along with one Swedish buddy who was also in town, to get together for dinner. Turned out to be a great choice. Despite the trivia night thing blaring away in the front section of the dining room, our table at the back was far enough away that we could have a conversation without shouting, so that was a win. Food and service were really good - my onglet steak (I swear I do eat many other things, but my recent Yelp history does make me look like a homicidal threat to the bovine species) was just right, making this a great night.

I had the moat amazingly satisfying vegetarian dinner here. It was a savory beans and mushrooms dish, with roasted salsify and toasted triangles of polenta. My husband loved his salmon, and my kid loved her cheese plate. We came early (gotta love jetlag) and had to hang out, drinking bitters and eating crisps, until the kitchen opened at 6pm. The service was fine, but the crowd was sparse.

As I'm gluten intolerant, there is no bun with this burger - silly looking, I know.

A great place to chill, read, and eat well! Add the brilliant reggae music and a plethora of other funky tunes, and I'm in heaven.

We specifically came to try fish and chips, so we were lucky that The Mall Tavern was nearby. Each of us ordered fish and chips, and all of our plates were left nearly empty. My goodness, I have never had better fish and chips than here at The Mall Tavern. The fish was crispy, and the chips were perfectly salted to taste. I appreciate that chips in England are more like potato wedges than classic American french fries. Way less fried and way less salty, so you can enjoy the actual taste of the potatoes! I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese that we all shared. I don't know what kind of cheese(s) was used, but it was the perfect starter to our meal. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding for the first time. It was hard not to order another one!! We came in for late lunch, so the restaurant was empty. I assume they are much busier at lunch and dinner time. I also enjoyed the selection of beer while we waited for our food to come out. Next time I'm in London, I'm returning here immediately.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.
