Last week I had a craving for some fresh fruit so I stopped into the Manhattan Fruit Exchange and grabbed a pack of strawberry's and black cherry's. Strawberry's with sugar are one of my favorite snacks and these are the ripest, juiciest, sweetest strawberry's I've ever tasted. Don't be fooled by the name, Manhattan Fruit Exchange has a plethora of produce ranging from common to hard to find fruits and veggies. Things to know: The space is large and refrigerated so be prepared for the chill or bring a sweater (the workers wear sweatshirts even in the summer). Self serve. CASH ONLY.

As per the name, they have a selection of nuts and dried fruits along with some Chinese candies and some other things. I was originally going to get something else but then I saw they had something that I have never had before which were Yogurt Hawthorns. Also commonly seen in tanghulu; which has become been getting much more popular; or in haw flakes, I am a big fan of these berries. The candies were $15 a pound which is very reasonable and I eventually bought $10 worth which was a substantially sized bag. It was lightly sweetened from the yogurt with a nice texture with the hawthorn adding a nice bit of sourness but not too much. This is a delightful snack being a much tastier version of a yogurt cranberry and I will definitely go back and get more. Early review so early ratings though it's probably closer to a 4 than what I am giving it.

So I didn't expect for them to have a big selections of flowers to choose from. But I was pleasantly surprised when I walk in, the whole place was full of beautiful flowers and plants to choose from. They have a great selection of colorful orchids and real potted plants. The prices are reasonable too. I would definitely be back to buy more flowers and plants in the future.

Flushing CSA is an easy and affordable way to get local, organic, farm-fresh veggies right in my 'hood. A typical weekly share had 5-7 different types of produce, some regular dietary staples, some weird and delightful. But always top quality and fresh. Having the veggies on hand forces me to eat better. I don't have to think about what to buy or wonder if something is in season or imported, its all just there for me, fresh and at its peak ripeness. And I only need to stock up on pantry staples and some meat (which can be frozen) once in a while, freeing my time and budget from regular grocery shopping, which is great, especially in the summer when my social calendar is bursting!

The price was 10 dollars a pound at the time and then later it started dropping. I was somewhat annoyed that they dropped the prices after i got it because i could have definitely saved some money from that time. They do let you sample but i will say that it is a slight sanitary concern to know that everyone is dipping their hands into the buckets and they are also using that batch to sell to others. Maybe I am just a little germaphobic, but you dont know where a lot of the hands have been so it is a little concerning along with the containers not being covered. At lease from my experience, service was always pretty nice but i think their english is a little limited so when foreigners do come by, they do struggle a bit which i do feel bad about. I think i would just have to see how their set up goes in the future if I were to consider buying from them again. I dont really think they make their products themselves, so I am curious where the products come from. I really hope they arent just repackaging other brands.

One thing that is unmistakably valued is a local Green Market. I feel fortunate if I happen by on a day it's open. While I'm nearby I take photos of Landmarks. I also grab something to eat and sit in the Katherine Hepburn Garden. I like to enjoy the many sculptures in the vicinity. This area has a peaceful calming effect on me. I'm a fan. I do stay away when the UN is in session. That's Crazy Time!
