My husband wanted to look for some jewelry and he denied his business but let two older women in and claimed it was by appointment only. I then said oh you won't help by husband or myself and then he proceeds to say oh I didn't know that was your husband come on in. And I then walked away and told him he is a horrible person. We dropped by for a simple battery replacement. The first thing the owner said was, "who are you?" He really knows how to welcome his customers. I said my name and introduced my dad who was with me. The owner, who was not wearing a face mask/covering indoors, requested that my father take his mask off so that he could see if he knew him. My dad was reluctant, and so I said, "that's alright, we'll go somewhere else." The owner said to just take it off, so I firmly declined. He said that I was "too sensitive," so I turned around to leave. He declared it to everyone in the store, "he's too sensitive!" I was already halfway out of the first door, so I said, "thank you!" Then he said it one he more time. Parrot much? And again! Projecting now? I couldn't believe it. A new watch battery is not worth having my senior father contract Omicron from a maskless, careless, rude man. There are plenty of other responsible, welcoming businesses that can do simple battery fixes. This man was definitely an expert at customer service though... true pro. Negativity is not something I like to spread but I waited a while to calm down before posting this review. I still feel that this review is much needed to maintain integrity. I took in both a wedding and engagement ring with the intention of only resizing them and was haggled into adding more features. I felt uncomfortable but went along with the owners opinion because he portrayed himself as an expert. The owner was very condescending and rude and tried to mask his unnecessary level of harshness with what he only described as "honesty". I later realized that this was simply a marketing ploy as his only concern was to guilt me into adding more features to make more money. I finally told him to not make many of the changes that he proposed, and he went on to split the wedding ring in half and failed to resize both of the rings. Forgetting to resize the rings is inexcusable as this was the reason why I initially entered the store. In fact, splitting the wedding ring made it smaller, and he did not properly fit the jewelry together so there were awkward gaps everywhere. I felt heart broken because these two pieces of jewelry were heirlooms. I immediately returned to the store to express my dissatisfaction, and I was met with threats to throw me out accompanied by a very aggressive attitude. He shouted at me multiple times when I never raised my voice once. This man is highly unprofessional and profits off of those willing enough to accept his gaudy bravado. It took months for me to write this review, but I am still unable to happily wear my engagement ring without thinking about the traumatic experience that I had at this store. I purchased my wedding rings and a setting for my wife's ring from this establishment quite a long time ago. It was an extremely negative, rather traumatic experience, one which I have never forgotten. I have never returned, nor will I ever return. I prefer to take my business to someone respectful, and who appreciates my business. This is NOT that kind of place. We purchased our rings, went on our honeymoon, then came back to have one of the rings resized. The owner literally pointed his finger in my face, YELLED, and insulted me, right in front of my wife, and with other customers present. His behavior was UNCONSCIONABLE, not to mention disgustingly rude and completely inappropriate. He acted like a child. In a civilized society, such behavior should NEVER be tolerated by anyone, much less a paying customer. The pointing of the finger was threatening, and foolish because it could very well have caused a physical confrontation, particularly with someone who does not have the self-control of me. His intensity was so bad, that two of his associates tried to diffuse the situation saying something to the effect like "we are friends." Seriously, what the hell is the problem with resizing a ring? Are you kidding me! The man owes me an apology, but I never received that. This should never have happened. The man unilaterally destroyed what could have been a good business relationship, and at the same time, added a very sour note to what was otherwise, a very happy time. Well done! read more

We've been going to this jeweler for many years. The owner is Pham and we had always noticed he was greedy/pushy, we are seasoned consumers so it wasn't a problem for us. I don't know why we kept going back, perhaps just because it was familiar. ‍ From our last experience though, the quality of work has declined significantly. I was in the area and decided to get a clasp on a white gold chain fixed, what I got back was a clasp with two gold hoops on each side! It looked so tacky, his wife was in agreement, her face told it all! She immediately showed it to her husband, Pham, they were speaking Vietnamese amongst themselves, so I couldn't understand what was discussed, but he quickly pretended to not notice, he looked at me and said, "it looks good!" I told him it doesn't look the same and it's certainly not what I expected to get back. If you bring a necklace that is white gold then the expectation is that white gold will be used to fix it! To make matters worse, he still had the nerve to charge me! Oh and he then said that if I wanted him to use white gold the price would be more, that would have been fine with me! My fiancé gave me a gorgeous three stone, princess cut, crown setting, platinum engagement ring about 2 years ago, atop Half Dome. It was custom made by a private jeweler from Pacific Palisade. Shortly after, he sold his business. In my opinion, it was an appropriate move, because after having met Lam, and knowing the quality of service and work Lam represents, I know we could have done better then. Lam came highly recommended to us by three different "couple friends" of ours. We will be getting married this October. We wanted something to compliment the three stone engagement ring, and, at the same time, can stand on its own should I only wear the wedding band. He's a very skilled jeweler, and his prices are very good. I took my engagement ring in to get a consult because I wanted to make some changes to it. Lam asked me good questions so that he could get an idea of what I envisioned. We brought in a loose center stone (very different from my original stone in size and shape), he refitted the new stone, lowered the setting, resized my ring from 6.5 to 5 3/4, polished and recoated it - an 18K gold ring. All of this work for $75! And I was able to get it back the next day, less than 24 hours later. I was extremely pleased with the work that he did and I loved how it turned out. Lam helped me design a custom ring for my fiancé. We re-set three of my great grandmother's stones in a new custom platinum setting, and added an additional eight stones of comparable color. The ring is AMAZING. My fiancé consistently remarks that it is the most beautiful and classy engagement ring she has ever seen. Her friends and acquaintances are wowed. Furthermore, I had the ring appraised by another reputable jeweler for insurance purposes. The appraisal valued the setting that Lam created at MORE than I paid for it. That, to me, is a very clear indication that Lam delivered an extremely affordable and high quality product. The ONLY reason why I gave Lam four stars: He failed to call me on two occasions. He had forgotten to give me the two gems that were in my grandmother's setting that we didn't use -- as soon as he realized this, he probably should have called me (I remembered, and phoned him.) No big deal. Also, he didn't call me once the engagement ring was complete. I phoned him to check in on his progress, and was surprised to hear from him that the work on the ring had been completed nearly three weeks prior, which for me was a bigger deal.
