I was drawn in by the positive reviews, but my experience was awful -- bait-and-switch and outright shady behavior. I called and was quoted a price for my gold over the phone, and I went in minutes after that call -- yet in person they offered me a much lower number. When I brought up the phone quote they said prices "change daily," even though I called the same day and came right over. I asked for an acid test and he agreed -- but when I asked him to compare it to his 14k gold he "unknowingly" used an 18k gold ring instead. I asked to see the ring and it was labeled 18k -- he acted like it was an accident when I caught him using a higher-purity gold ring for his test with a 10 karat acid. Once his mistake was pointed out he apologized, then essentially told me to leave by refusing to buy my gold. I took the exact pieces to a jeweler down the street with no problems: they confirmed it was 14k and gave me a great price. Bottom line -- they baited me with a phone quote, lowballed me in person, and tried sneaky tricks. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

When I walked in and mentioned that my grandfather was a jeweler, the owner responded with a completely inappropriate comment asking if he had died young. After that, when we discussed resizing a ring, the owner said it would be much more expensive because it was silver, which was untrue. Then, even though I was quoted $40 over the phone, he tried to charge me $50. When I asked for the original price, he refused at first, only begrudgingly settling on $45 after another customer intervened. I came here to get my engagement ring resized from a 5.5 to 4.25. Not only can you see and feel the ridges from where the ring was cut, but it was also not resized correctly. It's obviously that they took gold from the band on the bottom and lazily molded it back together without resizing the rest of the ring. The width of the ring is still 5.5 and doesn't fit. I put another ring from home over top that is a 5.5 and it's the same width (see photos). They charged me $125 for this. Don't waste your time/money here ladies. read more

I have wanted a diamond tennis bracelet for many years. I popped into Darbini, am I glad I did! Oscar and his mother were there and assisted me. Oscar gave me world class service and his mom was so delightful. I left without buying anything. No high pressure sales tactics, just good honest service. I did some more research and 2 months later I decided to go back. I had some rings that I hadn't worn in a few years, so I decided to see what price they would give me to put as a credit towards the bracelet. Adam, Oscar's' son, was professional and also had great customer service! He was extremely fair and honest. I decided to go ahead and make the deal happen. After the credit he gave me for my rings, I had to put only a fraction of what I would have spent. The bracelet was just a little too small, Oscar said that he would only need to add 3 diamonds to make it the perfect size. After looking through the loop at each stone, I didn't like 3 of the diamonds. Oscar was perfectly ok replacing them. He had to make a mold of the gold setting to add the extra length. I just picked up my bracelet. I am ecstatic about the way it turned out. The added links looks identical to all the others. The stone were replaced and the additional diamonds are fabulous! I am really disappointed in the jewelry repair I have received on two separate pieces. One was a stone replacement that didn't last long. The other was a necklace charm repair that was done differently than I requested, but I was told it was strong and the best choice so in the end I accepted it. Now, less than a year later, the gold applied is already showing wear and I am in need of getting it repaired, yet again. I would bring both items back to be fixed correctly but I now doubt the quality of work so I essentially out the money I spent and will have to take the same two items to a totally different jeweler. Also, because they changed the entire design of the pendant/charm, I will have to pay for their work to be removed so that it can go back to how it was when I brought the item in. read more

This is a family owned business and the owner, Oscar, is extremely friendly, honest and talented. Upon my mother's passing, Oscar helped us repurpose some of her jewelry so that several family members could enjoy it. Finally getting around to reviewing this place: LOVE MY RINGS! LOVED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND! Getting married in a pandemic had its perks and struggles. Being on a budget, we were set to buy rings that were of our liking but NOT out of budget. I love the look for the "typical" engagement rings but I find them very boring, bland and not unique. I also find white diamonds boring so my now husband and I went ring shopping together. At Darbini, we were helped promptly without being pushed to buy anything but we were promised a personalized engagement ring to OUR liking in OUR budget. Paying cash up front was also a help to stay in that budget. The opal stone on my engagement ring is beautiful, great quality and not as expensive as the black diamonds on my wedding band. I also asked that my wedding band be thinner than my engagement ring since I did not want two rings making up one thick band. Once ordered my then boyfriend took care of the rest which he states: 1. Was offered a 3-D view of what the final product would look like 2. Communication was easy and stress-free 3. They made it work within the fast time-frame he needed it in in order to propose I went back to have the rings engraved and he was kind enough to get them engraved for a VERY cheap price. I had out engagement date engraved on the engagement ring and the wedding date engraved in my wedding band - both very clearly seen and perfect. It was a beautiful experience to have shopped here. My husband has been buying me jewelry here for around 10 years. We have bought 3 rings (a wedding band, and engagement ring, a gold cocktail ring and some diamond earrings. I went in by myself to have 2 pieces fixed and Oscar didn't believe we even bought the pieces at his store. I had put the items in a small jewelry box in my pants pocket and when I took them out Oscar sarcastically said "oh you carry diamonds in your pocket?" as if I had just shoplifted them from somewhere. I told him to look up our purchases in the computer and he kept saying "no" you didn't get it here and I kept saying "yes I did please look it up". Once he realized I was not giving up with his nasty attitude he looked it up and then his tune completely changed. It was embarrassing to be treated like I was some kind of scam artist. I will never shop here again. Additionally, the store was empty except me and his two female co workers who he berated in front of me because they went in the back and left him all alone with me.
