I think it can often feel like there's nothing to wear when you can't see the good pieces through the stuff you don't like to wear. When we were shopping, Sophie got a sense of my style right away, and she didn't impose a different style on me. She made recommendations about which pieces I would use more often--what was worth the money. Shopping with her saved me time, because she can quickly spot what's good and what's not in a big rack of clothes, and she knows which brands run small or big--which means fewer things to try on. He chose a board that was appropriate for my level and tailored the lesson to the conditions that day. I hadn't surfed in almost two years, so I was a little nervous getting back in the water, but he was very patient in helping me adjust and improve my technique. The lesson also helped me better understand the areas I need to work on most, especially paddling, board control, and some fundamental skills. I felt comfortable and supported throughout the lesson, and I definitely learned a lot. After the lesson, I also had some questions about how I should continue practicing, and Keenan took the time to give me thoughtful advice. I decided to check on Amazon to see if they carried the brand and what their return policy was, and they said right on their page that returns were fine. And on top of that, the same item was $8 cheaper on Amazon!! So much for supporting local businesses that don't believe that support goes both ways!
