This place was cute and the service was good. Our waiter ensured that we all had water and cleared our plates when we were done, while not being too overbearing. We had chicken with delicious veggies (carrots, broccolini, and parsnips) along with potatoes. For dessert we had their famous sticky toffee pudding that melted in my mouth, while someone else had strawberry ice cream that was absolutely delicious! This place was intimate, had wonderful ambiance along with an excellent wine list for very reasonable prices. Would definitely go back and recommend. read more

Made a reservation for dinner a couple weeks in advance at a friends recommendation. The restaurant even called to confirm. When we arrived they had closed the restaurant upstairs for a private party and gave us the weirdest seat ever. Even though there were proper tables avail they put us- the only reserved table in the place- at the end of the bar next to the service entrance and the stairs. Was so odd. We asked to moved- which was fine- then we sat at our new table for 20 minutes and no one even took our drink order... awful service! My god. They have a lion here! Ok, it was only a dog with what appeared to be a lion's mane, but it was impressive. I got a table in front of an extended upholstered bench and went up to the bar to get a Guinness, which was poured well and included a clover leaf . There were old people here as someone else mentioned, but no emo crowd that I saw. It was a good experience and I am tempted to offer four stars but I have three right now... Namesake aside, I do love this place. I always have fun and it's got a great atmosphere to it. I can't say I've ever eaten, but I've spent maaaaany an evening wondering where the past (insert high number) of hours have gone. Reasonable on prices for spirits, and super friendly behind the bar. Haven't ever tried the food, but lots of people regularly do - and bring big groups to do so - so they must be doing something right. Definitely an odd (in a good way) little pub. On the unlovely stretch (is there any other sort?) of the Earl's Court Road, this local pub is not off to a good start. But, despite its location, it works. It has enough oddness (piano, showroom dummy, vintage photos, bewildered punters) to make it interestin., They serve all the usual continental muck + a lovely pint of Deuchars. And Courage Directors! I thought they stopped making that in the 70s. Anyway, it's all very convivial. I always seem to be in there on a Monday night and it's a fun crowd. Some proper old people, nursing their proverbial pints, some young people, who really should be studying. And good bar staff. I've met the landlord a couple of times and he actually puts in the hard work - which makes this place a success. Only downside: THREE TV screens. I mean, the place is the size of a phone box. I was looking for a local dog friendly pub in the area & Princess Victorias was it. As soon as we showed up the staff & atmosphere were very welcoming. When we were seated, the server provided the dog a bowl of water & menu for us. I thought that was a sweet touch for the pup. They have a large selection of beers, wine, & ciders. Of the ciders, they have Strongbow on tap & a few flavored selections of kiwi lime & passionfruit. The menu has a bit of something for everyone's tastes such as red meat, poultry, seafood, British fare and pasta. I recommend the white bait, prawns & calamari appetizer to start, groups for sharing for 2. For the main, the pork belly that is accompanied by a gorgeous red wine pan sauce & mash. Found the Princess Victoria on my first evening in London after making sure I stayed up after an overnight flight. Nice pub with an interesting menu and a cozy feel. Staff was attentive and I ordered a spanish meatball main course that was a special as well as a wonderful glass of Rioja. I would love to go back and sample more of the menu as the food that was being served around me looked great. read more

What a nice surprise! Clean minimalist decor with a peaceful atmosphere missing from most pubs. We thought the tapas was delicious; Grilled octopus! Stumbled onto the Princess Victoria while we were headed for the Waitrose to pick up some groceries. This was our first night in London and we were hungry and not particularly interested in traveling too far from our flat. This place had a gorgeous exterior and the peek inside looked even more gorgeous. We decided to give it a whirl. Dear friends, this is why I Yelp. Bam! Checked-in and up popped the message, "Enjoy a complimentary bottle of house wine on us." Hells-yeah! The server was perplexed and reread my phone screen several times. I was giddy, clapping my hands like a little child. The bartender came over to inspect the screen as well - "What's a Yelp?" Love that. He called his manager who was also perplexed but gave him the go-ahead, so we received a lovely, dry red table wine, compliments of the house. The room was beautiful. Dimly-lit with extremely comfortable (yet fashionable) seating. Very chill trance music (sans vocals) pumped lightly throughout the space. Really fun and easy-on-the eyes staff (sorry dearest, but just sayin). We split the Goat's Cheese, Pear & Candied Walnut Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette for £11.00. Awww-some little deep-fried pillow of goat cheese, perfect with the pears, greens and dressing. Yum. I had the special, spaghetti with meatballs, for £13.00 (I think). Man had the pork belly and mash special for £18.00 (I think). Really good mains, not winning any awards, but above average and definitely good for the price. I was very appreciative of the fact that the pork belly came with skin-on, adding that little extra crunch that I so adore. Note: at Thanksgiving, I am the one running around stealing skin off others' plates. Great experience, obviously, but regardless of the freebie, really wonderful posh spot with brill service and good food. It is located in a residential part of Kensington, so definitely a quieter option to the pubs further down Earl's Court Rd toward the tube. Thanks again for the wine. :) read more

So the Decor in this place is fabulous, they even had candlestick holders with monkeys holding up the candles and chandeliers on the ceilings. The bar downstairs is wood paneled but in a modern way so its cosy without being over bearing. We just popped in here for a drink after a trip to the park, the bar was fairly busy and the only free tables were ones with high stools at them, so we opted for the sofas upstairs. The sofas are situated at the end of the dining room so it felt a little strange watching everyone have their dinner but the atmosphere was very welcoming so it wasn't a problem. I saw a sign offering their new cocktail menu for £4.99 a drink so I thought it would be rude not to sample one. Mine was great, I forget what I had now, but my other half sadly managed to just get a glass of ice and not much cocktail. They had made several of the same ones in one go therefore when they poured them out were not very equal. I believe they stock quite a good range of beers, ales and wines as well as the aforementioned cocktails. I would give this place top marks for atmosphere but they lost out for the miserable cocktail! read more

This restaurant was AMAZING. The food was outstanding, the best we had in London BY FAR. But more importantly, the service....In America, the service would be considered superb. In London, it was other worldly. Seriously, the second we stepped into the place, we were greeted, seated and given menues. Our server was friendly and attentive. Drinks and food all in 20 minutes. We dropped in on the Princess Victoria on a Saturday night after getting slightly sidetracked on Earls Court Road. It was sparsely populated with a young twenties emo crowd that seemed as chilled out as the twinkly Christmas lights hanging on the walls. I liked the ample bench seating and the vintage celebrity pics - it had the feel of a hip campus bar. A friend just moved into the area and we wanted to check this place out since it's close to her house. The decor was lovely and tasteful, the actual place and atmosphere itself wasn't quite as fancy as I thought but a nice place to go for a meal and a drink. Bit of a dull atmosphere but we went on a Sunday evening so that was probably why.
