We had a very poor experience. My child was injured, and they were weird and cagey about telling me how it happened, missing the moment it happened from the security tape but showing before and after. I do NOT think anyone hurt my kid, but maybe they were covering because worried we'd sue if the child tripped on something that might be construed to be their fault (we wouldn't have, but they don't know that so I wonder if that's why they hid the details). Apart from that, too much staff turnover because the owners are hard to work for. Some lovely teachers but they don't stay, burned out and cranky ones seem to be the norm. The baby area is amazing because Miss Lola is awesome, but the age 2+ area has too many crabby, impatient staff who aren't kind with the little ones. read more

My son started at Princeton at 10 months old and he will soon be 2yo. We have had a great experience at Princeton so far. My son has teachers that love him and he loves them, especially Ms. Lola, Ms. Elma and Ms. Elia. I feel that my son is safe and happy at school and constantly learning new skills. Communication is key at any school - administration (Ms. Julieta and Ms. Suzy) are very responsive and were very receptive to feedback when I had a concern to share. I have appreciated that it feels like the school and parents are a team. I love following the school on social media and seeing my son pop up doing all sorts of activities. I also appreciate the newsletters and events that families can attend. I would recommend Princeton for families in the Pasadena/Altadena area! read more

Both of my children currently attend Princeton Montessori Academy (and have since they were each 5 months old). I can't tell you how lucky I feel to have found and gotten into this school. I call it a "school" because it is far more than a daycare--It IS a school, and a wonderful one at that. My kids have learned so much during their time at Princeton--everything from how to use utensils to eat, to learning how to write the alphabet. And I was even lucky enough to have Ms. Anayeli potty-train my oldest (Thank you!!). I love the Montessori education--They are learning math, science, etc. AND life skills. The school also offers fun weekly activities like Dance, Music, Cooking, Gardening, and Soccer, which my kids love. But the most amazing part of this school is the staff: Miss Anayeli, Miss Julietta, Miss Wendy, Miss Suzy, Miss Lola, Miss Elma, Miss Ellia, Miss Emily, and Miss Tanya are all AMAZING, and care about the kids so much. My children are so in love with the staff, and it just makes me feel so great dropping them off at Princeton every day. read more

My son began going to Princeton Montessori Academy when he was 10 months old. Ms. Lola, Ms. Carmen and Ms. Susan were loving, kind, patient, nurturing teachers. My son loved them and I loved them. FOUR teachers have since quit and NINE children left... Here are some reasons why I STRONGLY URGE YOU NOT TO SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. When my son turned two he moved down to the toddler class room. Shortly after, my son was diagnosed with high functioning Autism and he began receiving therapy at the school 4 days a week. Therapist began reporting to me a number of violations. The ratio of children to teachers was high. Often times teachers were busy doing art projects and not watching children closely. A child with disabilities was singled out one day out of the blue by the owner; Ms. Niloo and then was asked to leave. They were also sighted by the licensing board for children left unattended in the bathroom. Also in the time we were there the director of the school was constantly changing. In the two years we were there the school went through 6 different directors. The reasons for this were never fully explained and explanations were conflicting at best. One day I received word from our Nanny, who went to pick up my son from school, that one of the teachers was not feeding my son. She said to my nanny... "I was told not to feed him." He had come home two days in a row with his lunch untouched. That teacher was fired. At this point we went on the waiting list at several new daycares. My husband and I both worked, have no family and could not afford a private full time nanny, and it was at least a six month wait or we would have pulled him out right away. Finally, one day we were told that my son would no longer be allowed to have therapy at the school. I met with the owner Ms. Niloo and she proceeded to tell me my son had "issues" and she felt "sorry for me" and that he was better off somewhere else. I informed her what she was doing was against the law and went against the American's With Disabilities Act. She was angry and seemed annoyed but agreed to allow him to continue therapy. After that things got hostile. Teachers informed me that Ms. Niloo (the owner) was especially upset that I had managed to legally keep my son there despite her wishes to stop his therapy. I was told the owner yelled at the teachers after I left that day that they "didn't have her back." The teachers had their own grievances with management and were very unhappy at their jobs. Management began making things difficult for my therapists. They asked them not to park in the empty parking lot that they had been parking at for 5 months. They began making petty remarks and requests to make life difficult for me and the therapists. Then a week later after my meeting with the owner I was called and told my son had bitten a student and was violent. I was devastated to hear this about my son. We were given one day notice and told we were terminated. During the time my son was there he had been bitten by other students. He came home several times with deep bite marks. I would ask what happened and who had done this and the school said it was their policy to keep things anonymous. I respected the fact that the school cared about both children involved and that biting and swatting and hitting are all age appropriate behaviors for young toddlers. Things happen. I understand that. In the case everyone suddenly knew what my son was accused of doing and it was public information that he was violent and disabled. On the next day I came to collect my son's things I made it a point to talk to all of his teachers. Two of the teachers cried, telling me they could not believe what the school was doing to us. They said it was not true. That my son was never violent. That they looked for any reason to terminate us. I said my goodbyes, packed up his things and we left. The story has a happy ending. We managed to find an amazing day care that was new and had a spot available. My son is now happy at his new school. He has not had any incidents of biting or hurting another child. He continues to receive his therapy and is improving everyday. I regret not pulling him out of the school sooner. This was my fault. At the first sign of an issue I should have taken him out of the school. I know that now. Things are not that easy when you work and have no family. It truly takes a village to raise a child. Do not let this be your village. AVOID THIS PLACE. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. read more

Princeton Montessori is the best! Our son has been attending since he was 4 months old. He is now 13 months old and he has not had a morning where he was not excited to be at daycare care. When I drop him off, he happily jumps out of my arms and into the daycare teacher's. That make me feel like he is well taken care of and is treated well. We love this place! We have had our daughter here for 6 months, she started when she was 1 year old. The review I see below about the cockroach made me laugh out loud! This place is super clean and I have never worried about this. It is located in Altadena, the base of the mountains, and bugs and wildlife exist. That being said, they keep this place very, very clean. The outside doesn't look like much, and kept me from calling them right away. Once I saw the inside and the play yard, I was sold! The teachers very clearly care about my daughter, and she is happy every time we pull up. She had an accident where she fell out of her chair during breakfast (10000% her fault- she is a toddler and sh*t happens) and the school was extremely quick in contacting us and letting us know what happened and what they did (she was fine). The way they handled it made me feel even more confident for inevitable bumps she will get in the future. This is the 3rd daycare we had placed her in in a year, and our longest lasting! (For a reason!) it's hard to find a place to trust to watch your most favorite person in the world, and we are happy to have found Princeton Montessori. read more

We have had our daughter attending PMA since age 14 mo and we are incredibly happy and impressed with this school, her progress, and her happiness since she began here. Our girl is excited to go to school every day, although her favorite day is Friday, when she can bring show-and-tell, and in the summer, do water-play or watch a movie. She has made great friends, and has blossomed into a very articulate, happy, communicative 2.5 year-old, mainly due to the hands-on teaching, free-play, and problem-solving taught at PMA. The Montessori method has been instrumental in helping her learn to focus on a given task, complete the task, and clean up the task afterwards. The teachers in both the infant room and the 2-3 year old room are loving, energetic, happy, and born care-takers. This is obvious to me as a mother from the little things they do: from helping hold a kid's hand when she is worried or missing home, to tickling the baby's belly when they change a diaper -- it is very evident that these teachers enjoy what they do every day. Which, at this age, is really what you want and need for your child! The infant room teachers -- Miss Lola in particular -- exhibits the same loving, patient, joyful behavior you would give your own child. The toddler room teachers provide boundaries with care, by that I mean they help children who are exhibiting negative behaviors (hitting, not sharing, tantrums, etc), to understand how their behaviors hurt their friends, and then they redirect the kids to channel their energies into better activities, and help them to articulate their feelings using their words. The toddler teachers have been integral in helping potty-train my daughter: they are patient, loving, and never shame a kid for having an accident, but they reinforce positive behaviors with affection, praise, and special stickers, etc. The facility itself is spacious but cozy, and has ample room indoor and outdoors for learning and playing. My daughter loves to run around outside, play on the slide, climb the structures, check out the leaves and acorns that fall from the beautiful trees, and ride the bikes around the yard. Every day she comes home tired but happy to share stories of how the human body works when we eat food, what new songs she learned, and what noise the letter "m" makes. The kids learn how to interact, how to clean up after themselves, how to help others, how to wait in lines and take turns, how to wash hands before eating and after potty, and how to understand other peoples' feelings. They also make plenty of time for free-play and fun songs, reading books, and painting. The price is affordable and the location ideal: a mix of great engagement with nature and outside, as well as clean tidy learning environment inside. The director, Miss Lizette, is very hands-on with play and age-appropriate discipline to help children learn right and wrong. Overall, we are very happy sending our daughter here and we are confident this great school has and will continue to help her prepare to be a strong, smart, kind member of society. read more

Our daughter has attended Princeton Montessori Academy for about 6 months and we wish we had enrolled her sooner. She enjoys it everyday. She has started speaking more, counting and singing. Prior to starting school, her doctor was worried about her being behind in her speech development but since attending PMA she is talking up a storm and so communicative. She enjoys playing inside and outside. She talks about the puzzles & books inside while also enjoying the tricycles and jungle gym outside. Susan is great at potty-training our daughter. Our daughter has grown in to a communicative & happy child and we attribute this to the welcoming staff and the hands-on teaching they provide. Also, the price is affordable and the school is only a few blocks from home so it's great! I've already recommended this school to several parents and will continue to do so. read more

I highly do not recommend this " Academy ", as I went in for a tour. There was a cockroach at the entrance of the the pre kinder classroom. If there is a cockroach at the entrance of the CLASSROOM. Who knows how sanitary this place is we are in a ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. How do we know as parents how clean and sanitized these classrooms are. My son attended here from 3 months to 3 years old. We loved it for the first couple years even though the director kept changing. By the time we left this year (along with many other families), I think we were on the 7th new director. There was a mass exodus because all the good teachers were quitting. Some quit on the spot. This was due to the owner, Ms. Niloo, who is extremely disrespectful to her employees. I witnessed her actions a couple times and have heard the stories. We really didn't want to leave the only daycare we knew, but it got out of hand. As long as ownership doesn't change, this place will not be stable for your child. First of all every parent will agree with us that choosing the right day care is one of the most important things that you do as you are entrusting these people with the care and well being of your child. This day care is one that we have come to lose that trust with a number of incidents that have happened with our 18 month old. The staff is negligent with the children & what these people have done is not acceptable. In the 3 first incidents we received phone calls by the Director but this last incident we were not notified nor was a report given. However as I was leaving one of the assistants came outside to tell us as we left and said it in a laughing non important manner that my daughter was bitten by another child. When I called to find out who bit our child the director said "I don't know, let me transfer you to Amanda (assistant) she was there" So after getting Amanda on the phone she told me that she was instructed by the Director that she could not tell me who bit my child per their policy. We found this unacceptable so I went back to the school & asked the the owner to find out and when she asked we found out that it was the Director (Lisette's) daughter who bit my daughter. The owner didn't even know about this incident until I went back into the school to ask questions & get an incident report. Is it a coincidence that Lisette told my husband on the phone that she didn't know? And when the owner demanded an answer it turns out that it was the directors child. It's clear that they were both protecting her child and her job from seeing any discipline. It is also very clear to us that our child nor anyone else's aside from Lisette's is protected there. We understand accidents happen, unfortunately, the staff members at this daycare act in a negligent manner and children suffer injuries which is not right. We highly recommend that if you want a safe, fair place to leave your precious child, this is not the place... I will never take my daughter back to that daycare. read more

She was very informative about the Montessori method of education for the young child and we have No regrets. The staff is very helpful and careing.my children have progressed immensely due to the academic curriculum. Please do not go by the negative reviews .These children were asked To leave Princeton after many incidents. The staff who does not follow The Montessori curriculum was terminated therefore they get these parents to write unfavorable reviews. My daughter has been in Princeton Montessori for 2 years and I daily see, at home, the reflection of everything she's learning: academics, continents, songs, poems, hand writing, and many more... The concerts are very entertaining and well organized. Ms. Kelly is a great teacher (Ps. Montessori certtified). The other teachers are good and dedicated, too. Ms. Lizette is a great director. The school is neat and clean; that's the reason why we chose it among the other school in the area. They always bring outside entertainment for the kids, and my daughter loves it. My daughter has been attending Princeton for a few years and I am amazed at how much she has learned! Best preschool in Altadena ,Iam. A current parent my child has been there since she was 3 months .She is now ready for first grade even though she is only 4 and 3 months she is way ahead. I do not understand the negative reviews by these two parents. I know one was Asked to leave as he could not communicate due to his speech problem and was hurting many children my child was one of them. The The schools are managed by a corporation the staff loves everyone Who visits the school from management in this industry it is really hard to find dedicated teachers and Directors. I agree they have been not very lucky with the directors . Now they have a wonderful staff and Ms. Julieta is a dear person and a experienced teacher / director the new Staff is Montessori and state qualified. Our child has been attending for over a month now and so far so good! I'm impressed with the level of care. I get the feeling that all the teachers are genuinely happy and engaged with the kids. I visited a ton of day cares before deciding on Princeton Montessori. Some of those other day cares were just scary - it was like Lord of the Flies! But Princeton is different, the kids are never left to their own devices or just running around and screaming. Plus the teachers do art projects with all the kids, even the babies - it's so cute! I also like that I can call anytime and check in or just drop by whenever. They have an open door policy for parents and that puts my mind at ease. read more

They challenge our oldest son work wise - which sometimes he bristles at - but we've seen him grow incredibly and feel he's more than ready for kindergarten.
