Our daughter was a founding student at Modern Schoolhouse in Eagle Rock. She attended TMS from when…read moreshe was 18 months until she graduated as a 4-year-old (when our family moved from LA to Denver). It's difficult to capture the gratitude and appreciation we have for Sue and her team in words. Modern Schoolhouse was an integral, joyful part of our family's life for several years. The teachers expertly crafted a safe, nurturing, and rigorous environment that provided a strong foundation for our daughter to blossom and grow. I feel like we will always look back on our enrollment at Modern Schoolhouse as one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. A few things stand out about TMS: CURRICULUM - Our daughter was enrolled in full-time childcare for a year prior to Modern Schoolhouse. However, it was unclear whether her previous caregivers were working toward any kind of goal (e.g., Kindergarten readiness) or if she was learning anything. That changed the instant we enrolled at TMS. I remember feeling skeptical when Sue asked us to purchase a special pack of flashcards. However, a few months later our 1.5 year-old daughter was recognizing the alphabet and making letter sounds at home. We were legitimately shocked! Preschool years are so important for kids to develop foundational skills and get broad exposure to different topics. Modern Schoolhouse delivers a learning experience that feels ambitious, but not forced. Our daughter was always engaged with the current unit (e.g., marine life, camping, etc.) and excited to go to school. That is the best feeling as a parent! The regular assessments and parent/teacher conferences helped us understand her progress and make a smooth transition to our new school in Colorado. CARE - At the same time that preschool aged children are exploring new academic concepts, they're also learning how to interact and play with other children. Modern Schoolhouse does such an excellent job helping their students communicate, manage their emotions, and engage with their classmates. At TMS our daughter learned things like how to ask for space and differentiate between good vs. bad choices. Teacher/staff transitions are inevitable and unavoidable in early childhood learning. What stood out to us about TMS was the quality and consistency of the team over the years and across classrooms. The teachers at Modern Schoolhouse helped us through the various ups and downs of life with a toddler and major transitions like potty training. Now that we're no longer enrolled at TMS, we're realizing that we took for granted how proactive and responsive the teachers were with their communication. The "ouch reports" from the playground, the quick responses to questions, it's all so important for parents - especially if this is your first childcare experience. COMMUNITY - Lastly, I want to highlight the broader Modern Schoolhouse community. Our daughter became very close with several other girls in her classroom and over time we became friends with their parents as well. TMS families are diverse, kind, and welcoming. I appreciated the music day potluck, annual art show, graduation, and the various other ways that Modern Schoolhouse brought everyone together to celebrate the students. Thank you Modern Schoolhouse! We will forever be grateful to you for the positive impact you had on our family.

Until the age of two, we were able to nurture his love of creativity through art, get him engaged in reading and music, and keep him active and independent while learning at home, but his social-emotional growth needed a community like Modern Schoolhouse to truly develop. We met another family at his favorite playground that had an AMAZING experience at Modern Schoolhouse and their daughter, who was academically gifted and raised with similar philosophies, was thriving under their care. We enrolled and discovered for ourselves that Modern Schoolhouse was indeed an absolute gem for child development. Our son entered after turning two, and he was very shy/reserved at the time. The talking, dancing, singing, bilingual artist that blew us away with his funny ideas and love of learning at home, needed help expressing himself in the larger group. Over the next several years, Leonardo was able to grow and thrive his ability to emotionally self-regulate, from having a 'safe space' at home to being able to identify what he was feeling and how to 'calm his body,' to listening to others and respecting common space. What we didn't anticipate was not just the top quality of the school, the clean aesthetic spaces, and the exceptional teachers (Teacher Alicia from class 3 was truly amazing!!), but also the like minded and kind community that became a key part of our son's social life. During our son's first years at home, we studied Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia- instituting some principles of each in our approach at home. It wasn't until we met Sue and her philosophies at Modern Schoolhouse did we see some of these same philosophies embodied in an American child care setting; and we must have interviewed or toured at 5 or more local schools before finding Modern Schoolhouse. The core beliefs consist of the idea that children are competent, capable, curious individuals with hundreds of ways of self expression. The role of the school and family should be creating a structured, clean, and aesthetic environment that is conducive stimulating exploration and discovery. Teachers in this sense guide and foster collaboration rather than just 'delivering information.' Giving our son a new challenge was hard at first, but Sue and her staff were quick to offer suggestions and outside resources so we could reinforce some lessons at home, especially around his development of social/emotional skills like managing anger, dealing with disappointment, and learning to communicate when he needed space. He also was given the chance to learn how to build relationships and have positive interactions with new friends. Each 'season' and month had different themes that would be clearly delivered in monthly/quarterly emails along with chances to meet with teachers on child progress in key development areas of language, tracing, use of scissors, how to put on shoes/jackets, counting, class participation/listening, and emotional self expression. By class 3 (3 years old and above), our son was giving 'show and tell' presentations, using the 'sharing bee' to discuss their weekend, and playing inventive games to stimulate imagination and curiosity. Through the use of brightwheel, we were always shown photos and videos of our son having fun with friends and doing some fun activity. The school also offered many events at the school such as the "annual art show," "parent and me" day, and music sessions from Teacher Gaia culminating in a student led music performance (the cutest!). This year all the 4 classes made their own animal costumes and acted out various Disney themes. It was extraordinary to see him flourish and thrive under Teacher Alicia in class 3, who is truly remarkable for her ability to connect to kids and meet them where they are on the journey. By the end he was more confident in his presentations and even singing his favorite Disney songs Karaoke style to the class! Everything ended on a wonderful note with his graduation and small speech to parents and the graduating class. We were given an opportunity for a graduation photoshoot and his 'family book' with messages from all of the teachers as a keepsake that he created during his time there. As he graduated before many of the others in class 3, everyone created a special hand painted art for him with with the handprints of all his friends. It is bittersweet to go onto the next chapter, but he graduated school scoring high in every single metric of development, and he easily was interviewed and accepted into an international private school. Thanks you for being such a key part of his childhood journey and we hope to stay in touch with Leonardo and our growing family!

Not to mention, our firstborn started walking the very same week at Pink Elephant. We were pretty shocked! Don't know what Ms May did, but she definitely has tricks up her sleeves with kids! She literally has answers to everything. Know that Ms May and their staffs are extremely knowledgable as well! I've asked Ms May for many advices in the beginning with our firstborn because there's just so many questions and Ms May had answered them all, and helped us with their eating/drinking habits and so on. We are so blessed to have Ms May and staffs caring for our babygirl, daily pictures are such a bonus as many daycare doesn't do so on a daily basis. Pink Elephant does, consistently everyday too, now that's commitment. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

He lights up when he sees her and loves to be in her arms. We are so thankful that Pink Elephant has taken care of both of our children.

Over the past two years, we have found our son's program to be constantly thought provoking, exploratory, and supportive for him. The teachers have always been A+ from the toddler room to the pre-primary classroom to now the primary classroom. Our son is always positively talking about his teachers and classmate friends at home, and we attribute that to the nurturing and happy environment at Little Acorn. We also get daily notifications via the Procare App, which is quite helpful for us to keep track of his progress and fun throughout the week. We also participate in the lunch program as the food is cooked fresh at the school. This has really opened up our son's taste (he's certainly not a picky eater anymore!) and the ease of having a good lunch / snacks provided everyday is amazing. We highly recommend Little Acorn for any family looking for a great pre-school environment for their children. We feel blessed to have found Little Acorn when we first moved to the Alhambra area 2 years ago, and look forward to more adventures and learning for our soon as he continues in the primary classroom.

In particular, I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Amanda's Toddler classroom. Our daughter came home weekly with beautifully crafted art projects and we received regular photo updates from the Procare app, which gave us peace of mind when she was so little. She also began potty training around 25 months old when Ms. Amanda noticed that she showed interest, and I attribute her potty training success to the consistent effort and support reinforced by her and the rest of the teachers. Another positive is that our very picky eater has been a big fan of the hot lunch program, which is cooked on-site (thanks Ms. Gene!) I would remove a star as there was quite a bit of staff turnover right as our daughter switched into the Pre-Primary classroom. This was unfortunate as the ever-changing staff made the transition more challenging for our child, and she had a bit of a regression. However, once Ms. Nona was instated as the main teacher, she was patient and worked with our daughter, meeting her at her level until she got over the hump. Though we're sad to leave Little Acorn, we're grateful that this program set our daughter up with such a great foundation. We will miss all the teachers at Little Acorn!

We couldn't have asked for a better place to trust with our kid, and we recommend blossom garden to any family looking for a daycare that truly feels like an extension of home.

Teachers kept us updated on our children's progression and needs through the school's app. Communication was straightforward with teachers and administration. The teachers and staff are incredibly attentive and caring towards all the children. This is a nut free school to protect individuals with peanut allergies. The school provides snacks throughout the day. Initially, lunch was not provided so parents were responsible for bringing their children's lunches. I think Blossom started a lunch program but you'll need to inquire because I'm not sure if they still offer it since it does not apply to us. We prefer to pack and bring our children's lunches to school. Overall, both our children have learned a lot from their teachers. My child has learned so much here, especially in STEM-related subjects. His life skills, independence, and hands-on abilities have improved tremendously. The school also provides a wide variety of enriching activities, including science fairs, carnivals, puppet shows, bubble shows, and animal petting events where the children can ride ponies and interact with rabbits and other animals. The school also hosts special Mother's Day and Father's Day breakfast events that make families feel very involved and welcomed. Every year, the winter and spring performances are what I look forward to the most. It is truly impressive to see a group of 4-year-olds confidently perform three English songs, one Chinese song, one Spanish song, and even a dance routine on stage. The children always look so confident and joyful. This year, my child will be graduating, and I am incredibly grateful to Ms. Joanna and Ms. Regina. Look no further, this is the best day care within San Gabriel Valley!…read more My wife and I visited many different daycares and before we found awesome Kids Klub, my family had a terrible experience at a different daycare in Pasadena, which really traumatized our daycare experience and didn't know if we could trust another daycare. We were afraid we couldn't overcome such a terrible experience that gave us nightmares or we couldn't even sleep just thinking about our child's entire experience and how can a daycare run with advertised as "high quality/STEM," but no integrity and moral values....We absolutely could not continue our child's daycare program there anymore. We continued our search again for another daycare and big thank you to San Gabriel Kids Klub and staff for being there for us since the very first day we took our tour. What we saw was night and day, compared to the previous daycare and were stunned that we didn't find this hidden gem daycare earlier. My wife and I kept saying "what a blessing in disguise" that we found this place after such a horrible experience at the other daycare. What we saw on our tour: - front desk greeted every single family/childs name. - children are all so happy - the teachers knew all students names, even if the student was not in their classroom. - all students were engaged in activities (not a single kid by themselves or a group of 2-3 by theirselves). - the teacher/student ratio was fair. - All the teachers engaged and were attentive to all the students. - My wife loves the scheduled program and Curriculum based for developmental skills for each age. - Staff is extremely caring - Diverse and Cultured - Private kitchen for entire school/cafeteria - Children's Restroom are separate from classroom - All students knows each other from all ages - Tons of different activities for kids - Easy to talk to and welcomes you with open arms - Respectful where rules around - campus is strict but fair to understand We love how all teachers work together and care for each students personality. They all take their time with the students and consider the parents, along with understanding how important it is to teach culture to all ethnicities. This showed me how special it is to be a part of Kids Klub. Also, they have 3 locations and have night and weekend programs as well. We love the flexibility Kids Klub offers, from different schedule of programs, to night/weekend care, to seeing Summer CAMP, to picking up older students for after-school care program. It's been over a year here at Kids Klub and our 3year old has shown so much confidence, knowledge, skills, discipline, speech (talks so much ), learned how to control emotions, the list goes on. The hours of the camp are dream come true for working parents (7:30- 6 pm), and even when I get off a little early, my kids beg to stay til close to closing. The field trips are also great. You can truly tell that they genuinely care about every child. My daughter knew all of her teachers by name and looked forward to seeing them every day. She was always happy, clean, and well cared for when I picked her up, which was such a relief for first-time parents. Being able to leave your child knowing she is safe, loved, and well cared for is priceless. One of the things we appreciated most was that she learned so many new words, especially in Mandarin, which was exactly what we had hoped for. The teachers made learning fun and meaningful. On her last day, Landy's even organized a farewell party for her. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to our family. We are incredibly grateful to Landy and all of the teachers for the love, dedication, and positive influence they had on our daughter's early years. These are memories we will always treasure. I wish I had more children to send to her but I don't. My son was taught everything other schools probably would never have focus on, he was able to dress himself and be fully potty train by the age of 14months. I just had lots of laundry weekly The whole school was super clean, it's a home daycare/preschool. Speaking Chinese at home was required to come to her school so she could continue this with the kids, I'm so glad I found her. My little boy speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin because of this. The bad thing about being at Landy's is that the families especially us all got spoil, now trying to find anything close to this will be difficult and transitioning my son to a public school has been hard....he now comes home all dirty Another thing I have to praise her about is that she stayed open for all the essential families during the pandemic, she gave life to the kids while the rest of the whole world was suffering with in-home learning with their schools.
