The two arborists, Jason and another young man (sorry, forgot his name) did an excellent job in explaining what they were doing and answered any questions I had. They were were very nice and took their time, being careful about shaping the trees and what to cut. All the trees look great and feel confident that they will continued to thrive. So Princeton Tree Care came to my house to remove a downed tree that had fallen on my patio and roof. They were dispatched through my insurance company. They charged 4100 dollars to my insurance company. I was told 3500 for the tree (which at this point was all debris as it was down)and something like 533$ for debris. They then proceeded to bill me 33$ of uncovered debris charges and attempted to collect a late fee and finance charge for this after saying they would look into it and waiting 1 month. The work was decent although they messed up my walk way with their machinery. But the reason for the low rating is the fact they actually had the audacity to collect the 33 dollars after making 4100$ for less than 1 hour of work. read more

Had five large trees that were in various states of decay, too close to my house and, in one case, impacting the neighbor's deck/roof, so I called several tree companies for quotes. Matt from Princeton Tree Care came right out and discussed the job and the options with me. He was the only person who talked about the health of the trees and that one could be pruned rather than removed to achieve my goals. I share his belief in saving healthy trees where possible. He also gave me some tips on how I could save a very large and healthy holly tree from the scourge of English ivy which had started to creep up it. The quote from PTC wasn't the lowest, but it served the trees and landscape better than any of the others. The crew was prompt, friendly and professional. They treated my yard respectfully, were super fast, and did a great job on the removal and pruning, and left the yard looking better than when they arrived. 9 months ago we reached out to PTC for a quote regarding the removal of two dead trees in our property. Our house had just flooded due to the hurricane and we were in a tight financial situation and needed to remove those trees immediately as they were hazards. Ultimately we decided to go with a different company who quoted us 2-3k lower than what PTC quoted us. This review however, is not about that experience. Recently one of our dogwood trees had started to spread its branches near a power line and we wanted to trim it. This time we invited PTC to come out and give us a quote for it because we are in a better financial situation and ultimately, we like the company's values and wanted to give the job to an arborist who was local. A team member for PTC came out and proceeded to berate my girlfriend about why we had decided to go with a different company 9 months ago. My girlfriend explained that it was cheaper at which the team member responded by telling her that she was wrong and that the quote was not even that much, he then reviewed the quote and realized she was right, but then responded with "well why don't you just call them." The team member was very combative and he didn't even look at the tree, and told us not to call again after the seemingly 3 minute interaction. So we won't. We'll take our business elsewhere, but this time is not because we are bound financially by the burden of a natural disaster but because we would rather work with a company that doesn't treat us like we're less-than. read more

This is s first-class operation. They were at our house last year to take down an enormous dead tree that was in a very hard place to reach at the back of our yard, but they came with just the right equipment that could get in there and take care of it. Recently a neighbor's tree, a huge one, came down during a big storm, landing in our yard and luckily just missing the house. Again, a great job cutting it up and getting rid of it. We had a huge Oak in the backyard which started dying with branches drying up one after the other. I had a few tree service companies visit to try to save the tree and all said it could not be saved and had to be removed. Given the size of the tree the quotes varied quite a bit with various companies giving reasons why they were that high. I reached out to Princeton Tree Care and they had the same feedback about having to cut the tree down. Princeton Tree Care was very professional with detailed email quotes including options like stump grinding. The quote was reasonable and I was able to pay the 50% deposit online with credit card. We went with flexible scheduling, as there was no urgency. Princeton Tree Care worked with me to schedule the date and did a great job removing the tree without damaging the backyard lawn or the fence. Also, all debris from the job was cleaned up. I would not refer these people to anyone. What should have been a 1 day job, turned into a 3 week, 3 visit mess. They dented my garage siding, busted my flood light above my garage, dropped a branch through my new pool tarp, leaked 2 large oil stains in my driveway with their truck, cut a huge gash in my neighbors chain link fence, and removed a tree they were not to. My POC with them showed up randomly, never provided notification of any crews coming out, unless I called to check. Extremely disappointed. I need to have another company now come out and finish what PTC failed to do. read more

They said they would come around 11 am and ended up coming at 2:30 pm, but that is because of the people in the office who didn't have any idea where the people in the field were. Those who came to cut/trim our trees were very professional and helpful. They did their job very well and they were very well-behaved. Well Im sorry to have to update this bit things didnt turn out well. See, my prior, superlative review was the result of PTC's willingness to come back out and replant the tree I purchased in the spot it was supposed to be planted. After that, the tree started turning brown. Leading to its death. Company asserted my fault - for overwatering - though it seemed very unlikely as we had dry spell and my irrigation system doesn't quite reach that spot. But alas. PTC has my $500+ and I have nothing. The owner did offer me a consolation gift - a free soil analysis at that spot. So maybe a $10-$20 value? But even on that I had to follow up and I think by now (its been about a month ago) they've forgotten about me. FYI some larger nurseries (eg Kales) will guarantee their trees for a year and never try to blame the customer (my wife happens to be a master gardner btw) of being at fault. read more

We called Princeton Tree Care for an estimate to have dead trees removed. When the Tree Care Consultant, Matt arrived I showed him the trees I had marked for removal. He carefully looked them over and determined they were not dead, they were healthy, just late blooming due to the other surrounding trees shading them. They didn't need to be removed. I was so impressed with Matt. His passion for what he does was quite evident. He gave me a quick lesson in tree species and as it turns out we have a really nice selection of trees on our property. It would have been so easy for Matt to say "yes the trees are dead and they should be removed" He didn't and his honesty was refreshing. He made some suggestions for "thinning" out some of trees. He then spent some time talking about some of my other trees and shrubs and how I could maintain them in the future. I have one unusual tree on my property that very few people have heard of. He identified it right away and game me some maintenance pointers. A week or so later a team of workers came out to do the work. The online reviews of Princeton Tree Care may seem too good to be true, but these guys really are incredible. We had a tall, top-heavy tree start leaning threateningly toward the house as the the ground warmed up, and called for an estimate on removal. It was a rush job as the tree was leaning more dangerously by the hour, and to complicate the job our Comcast connection from the street utility pole was in the way. PTC re-shuffled their schedule, showed up first thing the next morning, hand cut around the cable from the street, removed everything (and I mean everything, they had a guy with a rake getting even the tiniest sticks out of the yard), ground the stump, and were done by mid-morning. All this for a fair price, and they even took a credit card. read more

I have now hired this company at least twice. They are knowledgeable and skilled and use the latest technology to provide quick and clear cost estimates and to do tree care. They might not be the cheapest, but they won't butcher your trees, and sometimes less skilled tree workers can do a very bad job. In my experience, I want a company that I can trust not to trim my trees stupidly (such as leaving blunt, broken arms sticking out) and who won't harm plantings around trees, also who are quick and responsive. I've waited 8 months to write this review. I was really angry and depressed when the workers were done and I didn't want to write something unfair. I will just write facts. I usually trim my bushes by myself or have my son do it. He used to work with another tree company in the area. That company has basically retied. We have bushes amd trees that my husband and I planted when we bought our house in 1985. They mean a lot to me. Miu tain laurel, a big droopy pine which hangs over one corner of our gouse, which is a ranch in Kendall Park. My son spoke to the guys sent out by the company 3 or 4 days before the scheduled job. He was very specific about the work we need done. He and I had talked at length. However, when the day came for the job to be done, different guys showed up. My son talked to them and they seemed to understand. They were told not to touch certain bushes but they did and it was very bad. The big droopy pine was touching the roof and they were only to trim the part actually hanging on the roof, but they really went to town and it much more than that. I wound up standing outside next to the house crying. The mountain laurel bushes were only supposed to be reduced in height but they cut open spaces in between them and made them flat on top. It looked horrible. In addition, some chic kept driving by and stopping to have a smoke with her boyfriend, one of guys they sent to do the work. She just kept circling the block. I called the owner and he came. He offered to put some nutrient soil around the base of a tee near the house for free but then somehow the original price f the job went up. NEVER AGAIN. My bushes still have big openings between them. I think they had done a job for me beforw, taking down bushes with bag worms in them and spraying and treating the other evergreens in the area. That was fine. But this job was not. read more
