On July 9 I visited this Printer's Alley location. I had a sample of fabric from the Raleigh location. After not finding anything I liked as much and they did not have my sample in stock, an employee said she would check with the Raleigh store to see if they still had the fabric. She said she would call me if they still had the fabric. I appreciated her willingness to help. She called later that day while I was driving home (I live one hour from this location and two from the Raleigh store). When I returned home I called and was able to purchase the fabric over the phone. After taking my payment information she offered to have it shipped to my seamstress . I gave her the name and address and she told me she would take care of it when they received it from Raleigh. I thought everything was taken care of at that point. On August 2 I heard from my seamstress that she had not received the fabric. When I contacted the store they had received the fabric but said they had no idea who it belonged to. They told me Raleigh had sent no information. Raleigh would have had no information since I didn't purchase it from them. When I picked my fabric up I was told the same story multiple times even though I explained multiple times. The woman I dealt with was right there. She had my name, number, payment information as well as the name and address of my seamstress. She never bothered to follow through when the fabric was sent from Raleigh. They continued to blame the Raleigh location for the mixup. This Greensboro location dropped the ball and refused to take responsibility. That is no way to run a business. It shows a total lack of integrity. If they had taken responsibility for their mistake I would return when I needed fabric but that is not the case now. I will never shop at this location and tell everyone I know that is looking for fabric to never go there. read more

While Printer's Alley has a beautiful selection of fabrics, I must say that I am very disappointed in their Customer Service. Actually, there was no Customer Service! I made a very large and expensive purchase of fabric to recover 6 Parson's Chairs, as well as, another fabric to make 6 pillows and cording for the pillows. I brought with me actual pictures of the chairs from a couple of angles, along with measurements of every part of the chair. I also had pictures of the pillows with measurements. The person helping me told me how much fabric I would need for each. I used a very reputable Upholsterer, who called me when he unrolled the fabric for the chairs. There were two cuts of fabric on the roll. He called me because he said they sold me twice as much fabric than I needed and that they should at lease take back the second cut of fabric that was on the roll. When I called Printer's Alley, they refused to take anything back and said all sales are final. I understand this, but not when you trust them as professionals and they then take advantage of their customers! Especially when there was a large amount of fabric on the second piece of fabric that they cut. The people at Printer's Alley cannot be trusted and hide behind their "all sales final" to take advantage of their customers by selling twice as much fabric as is needed. Buyer beware!! read more

I read two negative reviews on Printers Alley and have to speak up. Perhaps the niece and aunt do not realize this yet but Friday evening to Saturday is the real Sabbath so they should have made their purchase or came back on Monday. People act like bumps in the road are a major crisis. The man asked you to hurry and explained they were closing if he did this with every customer then he is putting consumerism above the creator. Sabbath is the seventh day of the week from eve to eve. You should not be touching money after dusk anyway. read more

I will start this review by saying each time this company receives an unfavorable review, it "pays" to have it removed which probably bothers me even more than what transpired the last time that I visited. I am local to the area and recommended it to my aunt who was visiting from Colorado. She was looking for a place to purchase fabric as she was in the market for new custom comforter and bedding pillows for her master bedroom. We visited around 5:30PM on a Friday afternoon and immediately found a very attractive fabric that we thought just might have done the trick. We asked for a sample of it and the store associate gave her a very small square that didn't encompass the colors in the sample. She asked for something larger and very rudely, he said you are going to have to buy a 1/2 yard, which we had no problems doing. Sometimes its all in the way you present things. Perhaps a nicer way to say that would have been, "ma'am I can get a larger piece for you if you purchase a half yard, which won't cost you much, just right around $5.00", but we let that comment slide and I didn't allow it to bother me, but what happened next was simply unbelievable and nothing shy of UNACCEPTABLE! After going to the register to pay for the half yard, my aunt noticed a bedding ensemble in the back of the store that was even more perfect than the sample that she'd just purchased. She was so very Excited to find what she viewed to be the fabric that she had been looking for! She immediately begin asking questions about each fabric used to construct the bedding ensemble and right in the midst of this very large purchase that she was about to make, the store associate, said he didn't have time to look it all up for her because they were closing. I was flabbergasted!! Closing?!! By this time, it was 5:52PM and the store still had 8 minutes before it was officially closed. I even saw the perfect portrait for sale, hanging on the wall that encompassed every color using in my color scheme at my home that I also planned to purchase and my aunt then said, not only did I want to make a purchase, but my niece also has (2) pictures that she would like to purchase and the store associate then said, "well she needs to make it quick". Wait, make it quick?! I have NEVER been talked to that way by anyone, let along someone whom I was about to patronize. We left the store on that note and will honestly NEVER go back. I have been in there many times before and the associates never really seem friendly and rarely offer assistance. However, I never had a blatant reason not to return until now. What has happened to the customer service industry? Why would an Associate turn down business of any kind? What was so important that he close the store 8 minutes early? Why were we made to feel as though our business was not welcomed? These are all questions that still run through my mind given this very HORRIBLE experience. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Do your research, find a fabric store to shop where your business is welcomed, where all customers are treated equally and fairly. No one and I mean, no one deserves to be treated the way in which my aunt and myself were on this Friday afternoon. The Associate certainly didn't mind treating us the way in which he did. Consumers deserve to know the truth! I called the store soon after leaving to express how embarrassed I was to even have suggested the store to my aunt who was visiting me from Colorado and a female Associate said if we drove back to the store she would assist us, which struck me as odd considering the male Associate made it seem like an emergency to close his register and in so many words asked us to hurry up and leave. Clearly by all of this we were completely turned off and unwilling to waste our time returning to a store who said they were closing and who treated us so very badly during our initial visit. There is not one ounce of this story that is not true. So, my last question is Why would the Owner of this store refuse to accept this review of my personal experience while shopping at Printer's Alley by paying to have it removed? read more

My niece and I were treated badly by a male salesman at Printer's Alley. I was visiting Greensboro from Denver, Colorado and was looking for fabric to do a complete makeover of my bedding. So my nice suggested Printer's Alley...so off we went. After looking for and choosing a fabric, I paid $6.00 for a sample of the fabric ...to my surprise as I walked around the store, I found a more brilliant shade of the fabric on display in the store in the form of a comforter, and a combination of other matching fabrics covering 3 pillows, 2 shams, a bed skirt and a blanket, quite a beautiful ensemble!! I simply loved it and told the salesman that the display was exactly what I wanted, let's order the fabrics!! It was around 5:45 by this time... very abruptly he said the store was closing at 6pm and he would not be taking my order. My niece stated she wanted to purchase artwork and he snapped... " the cash register is closed", she asked if it was closed already, he said not yet so make it snappy. The salesman treatment of us is unacceptable ...we were totally disrespected. No salesperson should treat customers this way. After he practically put us out of the store, I began to replay the treatment of my niece and I from the time we entered the store and realized we had been treated poorly the entire time we were in the store. Unacceptable!!! This treatment put a dark cloud over my entire North Carolina experience....hard to swallow! read more
