From this point on no matter what your issue is they will try to steer you towards a root canal. All I had was a tooth that got food trapped in it all the time. He improperly shaved my tooth down to prepare me for a crown. The temporary did not fit, had holes and cracks and exposed tooth causing me 2 weeks of throbbing pain. He said I needed a root canal. I ran out of there to eastbrooke dental in Novi, MI and they confirmed that Dr gagoh lied, I didn't need a root canal in fact a filing probably would have corrected the problem and that Dr gagoh put on a thin misshapen temporary. Dr gagoh didn't sound professional or knowledgeable. My instincts told me to get a second opinion and I'm glad I did. AVOID LATHRUP FAMILY DENTISTRY AT ALL COSTS YOU WILL PAY FOR IT.

I sometimes forget about my regular cleanings, they have a postcard system where you fill it out and they mail it to you as a reminder to schedule your cleaning appointment. I had all of my wisdom teeth removed here as well. I chose to be numbed only but they can put you under. They were understanding that I could only afford to do one wisdom tooth at first because I didn't have great insurance. Then I had three done, and was miserable... But they helped me through the pain and the dry socket. Now I'm finally to the point where I can do invisilign and I'm so excited to have straight teeth. The work was quick, excellent and priced fair. What I really liked were how nice the people were! Every single person that you have to interact with were kind, knowledgeable and understanding. The actual office environment is very inviting & bright with books and artifacts to put you at ease. I found the music to be a bit loud in the waiting room but I'm sure if I said something they would have toned it down. DDS, Ray McKinley wrote a fascinating book; you can read it or purchase it while you are in the office.

Then they did all kinds of procedures that I didn't approve of - thousands of dollars of work was recommended. I told them I didn't approve any of these procedures done. I was given a credit and later had a tooth filled and a different tooth pulled. So the credit I had was used up. I went to a new Dentist this week they did X-rays etc and found two teeth that need to be removed and recommended another Dental Surgeon which I met with today. The charges for the two teeth is going to be less than I paid for one with McKinley. So in closing - the prices of McKinley is way to high and appear to only want to do expensive procedures. Very disappointing. I will say this the Dentist did do a good job as far as the removal of the tooth. Unfortunately the tooth she filled is now one of the teeth that will have to be pulled so I wasted a lot of money having it filled.

"The Gentle Dentist" I had previously had issues with a few dentists that claimed to be the same... they would take care of you, make sure you were as comfortable as possible. Well, that wasn't the case at the other places that I had tried out for being a dentist. To be frank, I have a horrific fear of going to the dentist. Why that is? I have no idea... maybe its the fact that for some reason its painful... you're vulnerable... you're trusting those other people to do what they need to do so that you can continue being able to eat and do it without having any pain in life. From my first meeting with Dr. Antolak, I knew that this was going to be a completely different experience than any other dentist office I had ever been to. He sits down with you, gets to know you, actually listens to everything that you are worried, concerned, or that you have questions about. He will explain everything in terminology that you can understand, and he does everything in his power to make sure you're comfortable. The staff themselves are amazing. They remember you, they know your personal details, but most of all they put your dental health in front of everything else... They don't suggest having work done that isn't necessary. Another key reason why I had found Dr. Antolak is that he has been trained in Sedation Dentistry. Basically it is summed up that if you have fear of going to the dentist, have had bad experiences, or have severe anxiety like myself... they can provide you with medicine that will allow you to 'sleep' through your appointment. You go in, take some medicine, get all relaxed, lay back in the chair.... and then that is it. Everything is done. I could probably sit here for a while and rave about how kind and friendly everyone at the office is, but I would say that if you are in the search for a dentist... Dr. Antolak should be at the top of your list of dentists to check out in the area.

When I called to make an appointment for my husband and I, I told them I didn't want passwords and logins for anything. I was originally told that wouldn't be a problem. 20 minutes later, I start getting calls and texts demanding our emails. Even though, I didn't want to communicate with email I called them back with it. I still received SEVERAL phone calls and text messages about them wanting my email. It was very high pressure! Not a "gentle" experience. It was as invasive as a door to door sales that pushed their way into your front door and wouldn't leave. I called to let the office know that the new patient forms indeed required additional logins and passwords. Instead of offering an alternative solution, the rude staff said "well then this isn't for you." I guess it's the right office for you if you enjoy high pressure, constant harassing contact via EVERY form of communication without stopping and if you collect usernames and passwords. This office is the very definition and experience of why many people don't use their dental insurance.

I made an appointment for my husband for a 9am appointment for a cleaning on a Friday morning and…read morefor me on a Saturday morning. Seems like this is a newer facility. They sent a text to fill out some forms online, which makes it easier to start the process. The staff did ask us to call our insurance rep to indicate we chose this facility for both of our cleaning to make it easier for processing the insurance and billing to us. I see why. I have been on the call on hold to speak to an agent for my insurance for over a half hour. My husband's appointment was the day before mine. He said he was in and out pretty quickly. The hygienist does the x-rays, but the dentist actually does the cleaning and the rest of the dental appointment. The dentist has an electric tool that they use for removing the plaque. He said it's a little discomforting if you're sensitive and can make you a little squirmy. There's also part of a procedure during the cleaning that's all heavy wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. My husband said the dentist has good bedside manners. The only uncomfortable part of the appointment was the electric tool used to remove the plaque. Mentally prepared me that I would probably find this uncomfortable as well. I really like that they have Saturday morning appointments, that worked out really well, since my work week is not ideal from 7 AM till 7 PM. It's located in a red brick, red roof building complex next to La-Z-Boy. Building D, nicely labeled on the outside of the building, to locate it easily. My appointment took a bit longer, since I had a chipped tooth from some sichuan food at a restaurant before the holiday. I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment. Handed over my driver's license and my insurance card. There was a man behind the receptionist desk, he got up and a younger woman took my cards. She was making the appointments as well. The same woman after I asked if they were aware that I have a chipped tooth said they would take some X-rays. I was taken back to the hygiene room and fitted with the little wipe up napkin around my neck a few minutes before the start of my appointment slot. 8 minutes after my appointment time the hygienist was in and finished my X-Ray for my chipped tooth in less than 10 minutes. The dentist, Dr. Nikki came to the hygiene room about 20 minutes after the start of my appointment. She used the electric plaque tool, while the hygienist held the suction vacuum and irrigation. Then the doctor used the paste to clean my teeth. More X-rays done 40 minutes in. There was a bit of confusion for my first appointment. It was put down for the chipped tooth only. So my cleaning was first. I would have to wait a little while the dentist to finish another patient's resin appointment before my chipped tooth could he looked at and polished smooth. The sugar and acid poster is interesting, especially to see battery acid listed at the bottom of the list. I have watched my strange addiction, so I guess it happens. My teeth look good, just the chipped pre molar. Perfectly aligned too. Not to shabby. She asked if I floss every day and brush every day, twice a day. I said yes at the least. She asked if I use an electric toothbrush. I said a Sonicare. In another room adjacent to another exam or procedural room with only the chair blocked off by a partial wall. This room has slightly newer chairs. Looks like there are air filters in every exam room. Dr. Nikki is back by to me a little after an hour of my appointment start. She was quick and finished smoothing out my pre molar in less than 5 minutes. It's so rare that the dentist is part of most of your appointment and cleaning. Dr. Nikki does have good bedside manners. A few times I couldn't understand her, but she's nice and informative. The building and facility is a bit older, maybe 20-30 or more years old. Dr. Nikki and the staff are warm and welcoming. Out the door after an hour and 10 minutes, not too bad considering I had more than a cleaning done today. My teeth feel nice and clean.
