My mother has been in assisted living memory care for more than 5 years now with severe dementia . The last place was a large Beautiful and expensive care facility. (I won't name names here).. As my mother became more a fall risk and fell more times than I like to remember. It was Time to move..... Her last two times required hip surgery that almost killed her.. Company policy was not to use any form of restraints hence the very tragic results... Came across this home from listening to a nurse in a local Beaumont hospital when my mother was in stable condition and was ready to be released to rehab . Believe me I am new to this so making a change like this you get very very nervous..Its not like moving to a new apartment or changing car insurance. I was praying for something better for Mom and I believe my prayers were answered.. This home north of Rochester is a residential home semi converted to house 6 residents. The 1# biggest factor to have my mother moved here was the policy of using bedrails and wheelchair harness seatbelts as a preventive fall measure. With a trained staff on hand 24/7 makes for a 6/1 ratio in care.. The larger corporate facility cannot come close to that kind of care ratio. The owner ,operator and RN , Sheila Leadbetter is just a phone call or text away to answer your important questions unlike dealing with Directors, Assisting directors, front desk employees or trying make appointments to see the on sight nurse . Her methods for hiring are stringent for CNA applicants also. So, if your family member is becoming a fall risk and your current facility has a- no restraint policy, I would highly recommend making the change.. While cutting the…read moregrass I was having chest pains for a while, which I thought was heartburn I spoke with Liza who directed me to the ER, which as a dumb guy I refused, after some prompting she got me to come into the office. After her examine she suggested I go to the ER again, which I again refused, she would not let me leave until I said I would got to the hospital. Once at the hospital I failed the stress test and after a catheter and 2 stents I found out my artery was 95% blocked.
