I benefit by their wisdom,…read morebut I am troubled by what I see in their inherent weaknesses of old age ( mental, physical, etc..) and what uncaring or even worse, unscrupulous people/companies can do under the disguise of elder services. There is only one company that has not only my loyalty, but my full faith and confidence when dealing with, helping, trusting, caring for and even loving old people with dignity and respect..... and that's Joanne MacInnis and her crew at Aberdeen. Take a bow team, this is my review .....

Ordinarily an Aberdeen caregiver is scheduled to be with my cousin just a few mornings per week, and there was no one on duty last Friday when some visiting neighbors became concerned that she was unwell and phoned Aberdeen for help. The Aberdeen Case Manager, Diana Shepherd, promptly rushed over to my cousin's house to check and take care of her. Diana then stayed with my cousin until she could arrange for Aberdeen caregivers to stay with her 24/7 until the health crisis passed. I appreciate that it was not easy to find caregivers on such short notice, and am grateful to those kind caregivers who rearranged their schedules during this busy holiday season just to be with my cousin. I live four hours away, so having this dedicated team in place means the world to me, and gives me great peace of mind. I cannot say enough good things about Aberdeen, and Diana and her wonderful caregivers!

This is a follow up on my previous review and written complaint to the facility regarding my mom's missing after her passing at your facility. It has been distressing to learn that some of her personal belongings, which held significant sentimental value, have not been accounted for. These items were not only precious to her but also hold deep emotional significance for our family. Despite my initial report and the assurances I received regarding an investigation, I have yet to receive any updates or clarity on this matter. I kindly requested a prompt response outlining the steps being taken to locate my mother's belongings. As we navigate this difficult time, resolving this issue is crucial for our family's peace of mind. The administrative director initially looked into this, but never located her jewelry. When I reached out to find out the outcome of the investigation, I never got a response.

Everything .The staff at the front desk will be nice in the beginning over time they will be rude…read morebut try and act like they are joking with you. Most of the nurse staff is rude and they try and listen to your conversations and go and report back to someone what you say .The day room was dirty with food ,my mothers room was dirty and had food and body fluids on the floor for days .The food they provide for patiences is terrible ,it is either cold or under cooked or over cooked definitely not editable . There was no bars on the bed even though they knew my mother had a risk of falling . They would keep the call button out of reach and the phone so she couldn't call anyone . Some patients said they are denied showers for weeks and only get to shower a few times a month . They have had items stolen from them and the staff does nothing about it or the staff takes things out of the persons room and claims they stole it . While changing my mother ,a nurse rolled my over on the left side knowing that was were she had pain and my mother fell out of bed . She tried not to hit the TV stand ,the roller table and her face on the floor . She had two big bumps on her forehead and a huge black eye .She said she couldn't open her eye for a few days and when she could she say blurry . The nurse told her she better not tell anyone and that she just fell on her own . She had pain on her forehead for a few weeks and her face . My mother was dying from terminal breast cancer and she would have shortness of breath at times she was afraid to go to sleep because couldn't call for help if she needed anything . Last Wednesday she was trying to get help ,her room mates tried to get her help and push the call button they said it wasn't working ,and they took her phone book so no one could call me .A nurse said "she doesn't need the call button she's going to die anyway ". That is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't get to see her before she passed and then when I asked where she is ,they claimed they don't know . Then when I tried to ask what I could do about her injuries ?I was told to move on and let it go ,she's dead now and there's nothing you can do .I'm trying to find ways to file a complaint for the way she was treated .

Thankfully, my daughters knew Caroline H. who works for this agency. After a short hospital stay which disrupted both her diet and memory, Mom needed hands-on help until a room was available in assisted living. It was such a blessing to have Emily G. and Julie R. as the aides Caroline assigned. They pureed her meals, reminded her to take medications, provided mental stimulation and even some physical exercise. One or the other of the aides was in her apartment 7 hours a day 7 days a week for 10 weeks. the care they provided was in every way exceptional and the genuine respect they showed was wonderful since she had already lost so much. And finally, the fact that my previously independent Mom looked forward each day to simply having them arrive is in the end the best testimonial of all. If I ever needed private care again I would look no further than this wonderful agency. Ruth C.
