Yesterday I tried to do my Christmas shopping for my family an my budget was $7,000 dollars, i was thinking in some jewelry for my wife and a watch for my son but this store was open inside for some people but the doors were locked for some people like my self, I guess they just judge people by the look or color of your skin cause the hispanic guy behind the door told me they were closed but i call an i ask if they were open an someone told me yesss WE ARE OPEN!!!! Well, I can tell you this, they are a great group of people. My husband, (a black male) has never had a negative experience with anyone at this store. The staff does NOT have a racist bone in their bodies. We are not rich by any means, but they treat my husband like he's worth a million dollars every time he walks in the door. When he does buy something, he receives follow up phone calls to make sure everyone (me :) is happy with the purchase. The jewelry they show is of highest quality, and I'm fortunate to be the proud owner of many pieces. I think it's hilarious but sad that people call this company racist.......that's the furthest from the truth. Next time, take of your ski mask and maybe they will let you in. read more

I, a Black American, accompanied my Asian girlfriend to Private Jewelers this morning so she could have her strand of pearls repaired. As we stood at the door, both dressed casually (she in jeans and a fleece top, I in jeans and a Henley, the people inside were reluctant to even approach the door. A woman finally did, but wouldn't open it, asking repeatedly if we had an appointment. My girlfriend said she did not, but showed them the pearls and receipt to verify that she'd gotten the item from them. The woman kept darting her eyes back and forth from my girlfriend to me and I could see her gesture with her hand that I was standing there. Then she started pointing to the parking lot. Maybe she thought I couldn't see. I guess my girlfriend finally got the hint and asked, "Honey, would you wait in the car, please?" WOW! Only after I walked to the adjacent parking lot and sat on the hood of my car did they open the door and let her in. Without an appointment. How interesting. As she left, the people inside wouldn't come near the doors, buzzing her through the doors from far behind the counter. Now, I'm a successful business owner, wear my pants up where they should be, no undershirts as primary wear, no caps, do rags and what not. I support a number of Christian ministries and other selfless causes. None of that can be seen through my skin, but I'm sure it wouldn't matter at this place. Just as I was thinking that I was just making an issue out of nothing, a light skinned, nicely dressed Latino male approached their door. He confirmed that he DID have an appointment and even gave the name of the person with whom he made the appointment, but they denied him. As he walked away, he asked rhetorically, "What's up with that?" I told him what had just happened with me and he said, "Well, I wish them the best with whatever little they do get." With the thousands of successful, wealthy and well-to-do Black and Latino-Americans in south FL, it's good to know that we have many places to spend our earned capital WHERE WE ARE WELCOME! read more

I don't ever recommend you patronize this establishment. From the moment we walked in we were bombarded with offensive marketing inquiries about where live, if we have a second home, where my jewelry had been purchased, how we heard about them, etc. Before the rude brunette at the counter would even help service is she required me to fill out a form which included my name, my spouse's name, my number, email, local and northern address, DOB for both me and my husband and our birthdays and anniversaries despite my express instruction that we did not want to receive marketing materials. This was of utmost impatience to them rather than meeting the needs of why we came in the first place. I called ahead to ensure they could repair the print on my engagement ring and provided the specs of the ring etc and was told to come in on a specific day when the jeweler was present. I followed these instructions and arrived on that day and was told that despite he was there there was nothing they could today to begin the process. Additionally she required an appraisal from the original seller trying to dig for info on where the ring was purchased. Absolutely unprofessional on so many levels. I expressed the disruption that this caused as they did not tell me any of this up front when I called beforehand and this woman tells me that since I am already dissatisfied by their customer service that I should take my business elsewhere. My parents bought me a beautiful Tissot watch from Private Jewelers. Unfortunately the watch kept breaking. The owner,Ron, worked with me to replace the watch in a timely manner. He was so helpful and understood how much this watch meant to me. He even sent the watch back to Switzerland for repair. Then the watch broke again! Ron allowed me to choose another watch with no extra cost. He is extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about his products. I've never been treated so poorly at a jewelry store in my life. My husband and I were in FL on vacation, walked up to the door and couldn't get a soul inside to let us in! Finally after standing there long enough they finally gave in. Keep in mind, we were both dressed very nicely...apparently not nice enough. After finally being let in and telling them I was interested in buying a Raymond Weil watch, we were told "someone will be right with you." We waited for what seemed like forever and after someone was finally available, she waived us off to another worker who told us she would be "right with us." After a half hour of waiting we gave up.
