My 10 year old son has came here for about 3 months. He had an arm problem from pitching in baseball. He does like all the trainers here. I can not say the physical therapy improved his arm. The place seems to be clean. I was shocked by an employee Jaelin. Her response to my husband's question about what we should do next.. since his arm is not feeling better. As I was standing by my husband and by her. I never tell strangers my medical profession. Jaelin even tho nice.. told my husband our son needs MORE physical therapy. Hhelloo that's for a Dr. to recommend after getting MRI images. Insurance companies make patients do physical therapy before paying for the mri. Complete sales here at this place. My son likes the cool guy Physical therapists so if he wants to continue he can. I am not happy nor impressed. read more

I went to the Training Room for a left ankle injury and had 9 therapy sessions over 2 months, and the issue spread to my right ankle after doing the prescribed exercises. Overall, I was disappointed that the root cause was never identified or addressed. Their billing system is also inconsistent. I asked them to switch to charging a new credit card after a few sessions, but they continued charging to the old card. They also neglected to collect the correct amount from my first visit and waited 6 months to send a corrected statement. read more

I did almost three months of intensive PT six days a week for my badly injured and replaced knee. When I started it hardly bent and I needed a walker to go 3 feet. Through the fantastic therapists (Chris Neel, Becca, and Brandon in particular, but they are all great), and the superlative support staff--and maybe a little hard work by me--I can walk again. I first began seeing Becca for low back issues, and then for cervical spine issues. Becca is super knowledgeable and I learned so much from her. I had a poor experience here. The essential problem with The Training Room Rancho Bernardo when I went there was that they didn't at all address the issue I came in for - with my request seeming to not register in their brains. I made it clear I wanted to know how to have proper form for various gym exercises (e.g., squat, lunge, lat pulldown) so I wouldn't get hurt doing them and to get the most out of them. I brought a list with me of the exercises I do at the gym and was thinking we'd go through them one by one. After telling Becca my desire on two occasions, after the second time she stretched my right leg, had me go on a stationary bike, had me do stretches, and had me do all sorts of exercises (e.g., monster circles, dead bug, side-to-sides, pelvic tilts) that were their own exercises and had nothing to do with the exercises I wanted instruction on. I don't understand what the point of checking out my right leg was. I didn't say I had any injury there. And why did the physical therapist only stretch my right leg and not my left? And if the idea of going on the stationary bike was to warm me up, why was I made to do it on the second visit and not the first? They didn't explain the logic of these strange decisions. My feeling is that they automatically put everyone through the same program regardless of their problem / issue, and don't customize the treatment to your condition / concern. It's like they're on cruise control - when they should be listening and adapting their treatment. read more

It takes more than words to establish who might be the best Physical Therapy business in San Diego. I have sustained two torn rotary cuff injuries and surgery requiring substantive PT with the second shoulder injury much worse than the first. With Rick Stauffer assembling arguably the finest and most motivated team, my recovery now is rated close to 100%. Ricks' right hand man Josh Ostrom had the very difficult task of guiding me through my more severe second injury. Josh was dedicated to me and performed the vast majority of my PT sessions. It looked pretty bad initially as recovery was slow, but he stayed with me and true to his dedication, I am now back to playing golf with zero pain. You can feel the energy that everyone on Ricks' staff displays every time they engage with clients, even those they aren't directly working with. They quoted me $5 per visit after running my insurance...10 visits later They told me it was $45 dollars per visit! They would not do anything to rectify this, repeatedly did not return my calls and even did not return the billing departments calls. This PT location is magic. I have been to a couple of different physical therapy offices for a partially torn rotator cuff and shoulder impingement over the last six years, but they didn't help. I couldn't lift my arm above shoulder height and was in pain 24/7. After six weeks with Josh Ostrom and the rest of the great staff meeting once a week and doing the exercises at home the other six days, I am pain free and have about 90% of my movement back. I came here to strengthen my leg before upcoming surgery. They are located on the 2nd floor and the sidewalks leading to the building are covered with knobby-bumps, both of which made it difficult to even get to the appointments. I had different people working on me each time, so there was no consistency in the therapy. One person I worked with seemed pretty inexperienced and never really addressed my reasons for coming in (seemed to be trying to address the injury instead of what I needed, which was building strength prior to surgery). At one point one of the techs worked with me until I had severe pain in my knee, at which point he said that our appointment was over. I struggled pretty hard that day to even get back to my car. Of the four or five techs who worked with me, I would guess that only one had experience and was helpful with directing the exercises. Even the leg massages were painful and did nothing to relax my muscles. To summarize, the location is difficult to get in and out for those with knee injuries. The staff was aloof and appeared pretty inexperienced. When they worked on me and aggregated my injury, they were uncaring and left me to struggle with the pain. read more

My Ortho sent to me to the Training Room for issues related to my shoulder/rotator cuff. Lucky for me, I was assigned to Becca for my PT needs. After a thorough intake session, a plan was put in place. The PT Assistants, Jack and Luke, were great and always there to help. The entire staff is great. This facility provides the best physical therapy. I have seen three different therapists, and they are wonderful! They are caring, professional and highly knowledgeable. I was recovering from a knee replacement but I have also seen them for hip and wrist pain. I have been to other therapists over the years. I decided to try this place due to the stellar reviews. I can't say it's any better than a standard PT clinic. They have their sports theme which seems to work for some. They have some nice equipment and newer machines, which is nice. The PTs seem competent and nice. However, the aides and assistants are literally always standing around visiting and doing very little to help patients. It's actually super awkward at times as it is clear there is very little supervision on them. The last time I was there, no aide came to help me until I was about 10 minutes into my workout. Then they left before I was done so I didn't get any ice or electrical stem. People are nice but they definitely need more supervision and structure for their staff. read more

I have broken over 10 bones and have gone to over 4 separate Physical Therapy places before this one. This one is BY FAR the best one. It is leaps and bounds above all of the others. From a respectful, fun, and kind atmosphere, to physical therapists that truly know what they are doing, I have seen consistent improvement of my condition and pain levels over the months I've been here. I had a spinal fusion and had had chronic back pain for over 5 years. I am now able to spend the day at the zoo or walking around, something that would have been IMPOSSIBLE before. This is the third review I have written for The Training Room. After I returned for further PT treatment this year, I pleasantly noticed that the management had changed the way they assigned their PT assistants. When I was there last year, assistants worked with me randomly. This time Rick's assistant Emma worked with me most of the time. I really liked this new arrangement because it helped create a bond between Emma and Rick's patients and allowed her to know her patients well. Emma was an exceptional assistant who worked diligently to help me do my exercises. I was very impressed by her pursuit of perfection in patient training. She corrected each and every minor error I made and didn't stop correcting me until I did it perfectly. She also helped me set up each exercise and even helped me time my exercises. Emma was a self-motivated hard worker who always helped with cleaning the treatment tables and other tasks whenever she was available. Emma was the best assistant whom I have ever worked with. Preston, Aven, and many other assistants were also very helpful and friendly. Melissa and Mallie were very helpful to schedule my appointments. I recommend The Training Room highly. read more

Top drawer physical therapy center. For the most part everybody is very friendly and professional. I see only one exception to that in regards to friendly. This person was cold and detached. Clearly not someone that I wished to work with. I was able to take care of that issue and now I'm completely satisfied with the dedication of someone else. YOUR HEALTH DOESN"T MATTER...it's a money making machine for them. I recently visited them; after being treated horribly by the PT Rebbeca; I talked to Ricky the Director- and also the VP to teach them to have some bedside manners; they decided to punish me by quoting my $150 for my visit but proceeded to charge me $160 + 38 + etc.etc...making the bill $298.00 (ALL MOST $300). Even when I said I was struggling financially and willing to pay... Only when I opened by mouth to say the truth...the VP heartlessly proceeded with the charges...I was absolutely correct in the fact that they are RACIST!!! don't go here if you are brown folks...They will laugh in you misery.. Been warned. There are MANY other therapy places here...this is the WORST nightmare and rude, lying, untrustworthy training room. read more

This place is like a factory. Very crowded and PTs barely give you any attention. They pawn you off to their assistants who are always chatting and flirting with each other or on their phones. I couldn't remember all of my exercises so had to ask all of time what to do next. Shouldn't someone be paying attention? read more

The training room has some very good PT and PTA. The therapy is very good at this location. The bad is they see a high volume so typically u see the PT for a short period of time (some other place spent even less time) and then move on to exercises observed by a college or high school staff/volunteers. I will say the college/high school staff/volunteers are typically trained well at this location. It is one of the better PT locations exceptt for neck issues. read more

This is my second review of the training room... I just got back from an unscheduled visit because I thought I had torn my shoulder repair. I just wanted to have a conversation about what I was feeling but Alex and Chis took the time to do a few tests on me that put my mind at ease by letting me know they did not believe I had torn the repair. Then Alex worked on me for over 30 minutes calming down my shoulder tightness. Keep in mind, this was an unscheduled visit and I had two therapist working on me. BEST PHISICAL THERAPY EVER! And I don't believe I would have even been charged if I hadn't stopped at the front desk to have them put it in the system as a visit. So, please ignore the only bad review I see her from WY. who didn't even have the courage to use his real name. I can tell you that that review is nothing but BS! read more

Slam dunk! I had a stroke 17 years ago, and have been to countless (I mean MANY) types of therapy: speech, occupational, functional mobility, and of course physical. I just figured I would have to do it all on my own because the physical therapy stopped after 1/2 an hour per schedule, and I felt like I didn't get enough out of the experience m, no matter who I did it with (several hospitals, privately, clinics, etc.), I kept getting minimal results. After I get my right (affected) hip done, I figured why don't I give it a go? Enter the Training Room, with Chris Leo, Chris Niels, Brad, Rain, Austin, and Tyler(s) to help me with the exercises. Chris N. was my main man, and he taught me ways that I could combat any pain I would feel, with ice (which the Training Room always offered), and with the correct exercises, building myself up. He stretched me, and sometimes I would get a little bit anxious because he would ultimately make me feel like it was too far - however Chris *knew* the methods of massage and he always listened to me. I spent beg of Oct - end of April in that clinic, twice a week, for 2-3 HOURS, and man! What a humongous difference, and it made me work even harder for being able to walk "normally." I walk with more confidence and ultimately good muscle tone. I can walk upstairs better, and down stairs too. I want to thank Chris for believing in me, and allowing me to do exercises for as long as I wanted two days a week, and making me laugh to the point that I forgot he is not my friend that I could grab brunch with, and that he is (only) my therapist! I highly recommend the Training Room. Everyone listens and gives you the best result possible. I cannot say enough good things about this practice! Rick is the owner, and he treats everyone who works there with the utmost respect. If you have an injury, look no further! read more

The Training Room is an excellent choice for Physical Therapy after an injury. My physical therapists, Josh Ostrom and Bess Christiansen were fabulous. I had a rotator cuff and biceps tendon repair surgery and these two with their amazing staff were able to help me out of pain as well as strengthen my shoulder. The facility is immaculately clean, they practice safe Covid-19 protocols and getting appointments was effortless. Rick Stauffer, the Clinic Director, has trained his staff to be helpful and caring. Unfortunately, due to sports, I have had the opportunity to visit several PT clinics. The Training Room is the best I have been to. Rick, the clinic director, actively participates in all aspects of his clinic, from training the PT Assistants and front office staff (all superb) to patient assessments and the overall smooth operation of the clinic in general. My therapist, Alex, is top notch. She's fun, too! The gym is large with a wide variety of excellent equipment (remember I am familiar with PT clinics). The PT Assistants 'roam' the clinic interjecting their instructions when they see a patient not doing their exercise correctly. It is a very positive environment. Here's the most important part.
